A Hike to Seathwaite Fell from Stockley Bridge, The Lake District National Park

Free Parking at Seathwaite along the road just before the farm.
This route takes you through the farm along The River Derwent to Stockley Bridge, a lovely old stone arch Bridge with Seathwaite Fell behind. It follows Grains Gill, passing numerous waterfalls. it's an easy stone stepped path heading up eventually to the dramatic Ruddy Gill gorge , to head for Sprinkling Tarn. Seathwaite Fell is accessed from here to follow a faint wet grassy trod through rocky outcrops and around numerous tarns hidden amongst the rocks. it's definitely worth an explore.
The route then heads to Styhead Tarn, a popular place for wild camping, then along the Styhead Gill back to Stockley Bridge and Seathwaite Farm.

That was a great walk Tracey, fantastic scenery all the way. The area with all the little tarns looks like an interesting place to explore or to take a break in fair weather. Lots of good camera work and angles made the video a real pleasure to watch, thanks for sharing, ATB Roo.

One of the best that Tracey. Beautiful light when you started. Sprinkling Tarn is a wonderful place and Seathwaite Fell itself may not be particularly dramatic but its situation between Gable and Great End makes it really worth the effort. Been in windy weather on the fells many times but I've never seen the water being blown up the waterfall before. Amazing (and funny). The map section at the end is really useful for those who haven't done the walk. Well done.

So catch you all again on another adventure very soon.... Loved the ending reminded me of when I was a kid at the Saturday morning cinema. A smashing video Tracey. Looked like you had a real battle against the wind too. Seathwaite Fell is amazing with all its little tarns, humps and bumps. Great stuff and thanks for sharing

Fab video Tracey, some great scenery and the classic shot of the waterfall going upwards was amazing! Im glad you mentioned the steep route up the nose to Seathwaite Fell rather than the long walk round. I do fancy going up that way but it always looks a lot steeper in real life than than on videos. Another beltin walk! Have a great weekend All the Best 🙂

Morning Tracey, brilliant video, it certainly was a wild old day. I think that was the day we were on Carrock fell and Great Calva, it was blowy. It has to be windy to blow the water up a waterfall. Haha You got some amazing time lapse footage, very dramatic. Thank you for sharing your adventure as always, take car and all the very best, Dave.

Hi Tracey, Another walk demonstrating the beauty of Cumbria in winter even if the wind is made of iced sandpaper. No one dipping in the tarns, just ducks. Just how many hats do you take with you? Would you consider doing that route again in say late spring as a comparison and cutting from footage to footage? Cheers Graham

Thanks Graham , I've yet to find the perfect hat , it either too hot, too cold , too itchy, too floppy , too boofant ( how the hell do you spell that!) you get the drift haha its been a proper wild winter this time round and not enough snow but it does keep the tourons away so that's a bonus 😉

The best time to drive through Keswick & down Borrowdale when everyone is still eating their breakfast 😂 That was what I term 'bloody windy' 😂even the water was going uphill 😮😮 never done this walk so will have to get up to the lakes really early sometime down the line to get parked up & off before the masses arrive! Good to see Andy on fine form & of course Billy being Billy 🐶🐕❤ hooe all is well with you all Tracey 🤔 & how is your dad doing after his fall🤔🤔❤

Thanks David , dad is OK, he has now had an op on his head which required a skin graft and has had to go back each week for 4 weeks , only problem is he has to be carried up 87 steps to his front door by the ambulance staff which takes 4 of them every time 😲 but at least he is managing to get down the steps now.
