The original version was sung by a young man and his mates in a poppy, happy light. This live version is an older man and his mates looking back with a mix of emotions, maybe a bit of regret at some paths taken/life's curves, a bit slower and lower - more melancholy. it's really beautiful, true and honest.

One of the best voices in music - Morten Harket. In their song "Summer Moved On" he keeps a high note for about 20 seconds. A must hear.

this is a really cool version decades later, but the original pop song version from the 80's is incredible. it is perfect pop music. 10 out of 10.

If you look at KZread stats, this is theyr 1985 over 1 billion views monster hit,and i remember it all as i grew up with theese guys! The sad part is that they are criminally underrated, and what baffles most of us that follows them the closest and knows just how impressive they are,is that they are looked at as a 1 hit wonder. A common rector on youtube i wont mention by name (because i dont want to promote others,as it is a bad thing to do) But we made him aware of a-ha like 1 year ago,and yesterday he thanked us personally for taking him down the rabbit hole of a-ha. He has fallen madly in love with theyr sound, theyr composing, producing, song writing abilities,as well as theyr instrumentals, vocal abilities. Morten Harket on lead vocals still has the guinness world of records for longest sustainable note in a pop song, with one of theyr "comeback songs" in 2000 with Summer Moved On. The more people get exposed to a-has other songs, the more they cant believe that they are considered 1-hit wonders, wich is a straight up lie. Also the fact that theese guys has been together, the original lineup without replacement members, for 41 years and counting,is something you only combine with straight up legends. To name a good example,ZZ Top from the US is one of the few that can brag about having the same original lineup for that long. Sadly only disrupted by theyr bassist and keyboardist Dusty Hill passing away recently. And we know the status of that band, they are categorized as living legends. I see 1 or 2 other reactions from you with a-ha,im gonna head on over there afterwards. If you ever need suggestions to more songs,im like an open book regarding a-ha. My grandpa and mom bought me my first cassette walkman way back in the day,and one of the first albums i ever got for myself, was hunting high and low, theyr debut album with Take On Me on. Want to hear a funfact though? Thanks to Morten Harkets fashionista skills (he doesnt follow any trend,he just mixes colours and fabric by what he thinks will look good) ,he made Paul Waaktaar-Savoy grab the attention of his future wife,Boston born Lauren Waaktaar-Savoy. They have a sideproject band besides a-ha where both Paul and Lauren sings, and plays instruments. Lauren has lived most her life in New York,so they got themselfs a top apartment there to remain contact with Laurens family. While also having a villa looking home in/around Oslo,Norway to also remain contact with Pauls family. And theyr Norwegian Grammy winning song and debut album together also has an available music video on youtube: Savoy - Star (Im Not Stupid Baby) Its Lauren on vocals, declaring her love for Paul coming into her life, being so loved and appreciated with her own family, basically changing her life around. I believe they wrote this song together, but Paul made Lauren sing it and therefor declare it her love song to Paul. And Paul wanted to call theyr band by Laurens family name, thats when you know the love is deep and genuine. Savoy - Star (Im Not Stupid Baby) Savoy also shares a song with a-ha called Velvet: A-HA - Velvet 2000 (for a fan upload of the official music video) and SAVOY - Velvet (Live / HD) [@ NRK 'Wiese' / on-air: Feb. 23, 1996] for a live performance, where Paul is the one singing, with Lauren on backing vocals.

A-ha werent only huge in Europe, they were HUGE in South Anerica, especially Brazil. They even had the world record of most paying attendance at an outdoor concert at Maracanã Stadium (200.000 paying attendance) at Rock in Rio (in 1991). They drew more people to their concert than the likes of Gun’s N Roses, Billy Idol, Prince, INXS, Joe Cocker, Run Dmc, NKOTB, George Michael etc. You should react to their Rock in Rio performances from 1991. I dont understand how they werent more appreciated in USA. Very strange....

This is beautiful & the lyrics are very meaningful slowed down. It was a pop hit in the 80s but the lyrics weren't appreciated faster. The original video was cool. Cool fact: him & the girl in the video were dating. ** Can you do " Don't Dream It's Over" (original version or mtv Live w/original band It was a big hit in the 80s. The band is still together & had massive success in other countries.

Interesting concept as to what a one-hit wonder really is, even if you're only talking about a US one-hit wonder. Wouldn't having a #20 in the US hit disqualify them? (Which, by the way, is awesome in its live, acoustic form, too.) Or does a hit this big dwarf the other one so much, that it's still considered their "one hit?"

Someone on this actual video made the best post I have scene summing this up and I will probably butcher it But the original version if the song felt like it represented the pure joy, exuberance of your future when your youth. This version is more feeling like looking back at life as an aging adult now recognizing the weight of reality and longing for your innocence back! I wish I could quote it. Thanks!

It was a very popular song when it came out and the video for it was cutting edge, combining animation and live action before CGI existed. I'm sure you'll remember it when you see it! At the 1986 MTV Video Music Awards, the video won six awards. In the early version he belts 'I'll be gone--" but instead of dropping down again for 'In a day or two' he takes it up further! He's lost that upper most top of his range to age I suspect. Anyway, here's a link so you can check it out, whether you react to it or not. Thanks as always for your reactions. kzread.info/dash/bejne/lp6Kk5ORksafYZc.html
