Can we also appreciate the fact that Morten performed this while sitting on a chair. One of the best male voices in pop music EVER. Love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥

I see a-ha, I smash thumbs up. Such a talented band with great longevity but also with such fantastic variety and creativity to their songs, some very clever arrangements.

@@SaeedReacts. This is probably the type of music they wanted to be known for from the beginning, but Magne had created this guitar riff in his early teens that was so catchy, it screamed to be used in a song. Pål in particular was lukewarm about it, it was somehow too "American youth in the sunshine" for them. They were dark, Norwegian souls, after all. Morten pushed for them to use the song with the riff - he realized that it had hit potential, and he was right. Then it happened that three rather dark souls became poster boys on countless magazine covers and girls' rooms. Can you expect anything else from a band that creates amazing music and happens to look like they've been taken out of a fairy tale? They weren't experienced enough to realize that they should have put the brakes on, they were just happy that their music was being brought out to people. They lived for a long time with the disappointment of being taken for something other than what they really were. This is the real a-ha, but unfortunately large parts of the world, and especially America, thinks otherwise. "Take on me" is a classic, and when you hear the Unplugged version you understand where it comes from.

@@SaeedReacts. I’ve been listening to a-ha since I was 12 years old, I’m now 51 . They have been with me since I was a child, and are still with me to this day. And they are still active, their latest album true north released in October 2022

Thank you Saeed! It is nice to experience someone who goes into the lyrics of the songs, reflects on the message, and then connects it with how the music itself expands the experience of the message. A-ha consist of exceptional musicians and the band also has amazing songwriters, each in their own way. Pål as the mastermind both musically and lyrically with good competition from Magne throughout all the years before Morten also started delivering great songs. Three very creative artists who all want a hand at the wheel. Conflicts are inevitable when such strong personalities come together to create magic.

A-ha is one of the best selling bands in the history of music...selling over 100 million records. I recommend watching this same song as the opening song in a concert A-ha performed at the Derby Festival in Argentina in 1991. This band is legendary, and their music is sublime. Thanks for the reaction.

This performance of the song tells me about an action or deed that was done in the moment and the slow/sadder ending speaks to me of the regret that comes after... when the calm comes in and you get to see what happened with a fresh view. I've sometimes thought the song might be from the singer to himself, about losing that grip on reality in the heat of anger or passion or jealousy. Just my take on it. Great song.

Great song, great live version. These NRK recording from 91 are legendary for a-ha fans. Take On Me is most people idea of a-ha's music. That's true BUT !!!! That was snap shot of a much much longer story. The Master and Mark Webster are well known champions of a-ha on KZread and any of their recommendations should be considered as great choices to react to. Great reaction !!

About murdering his partner. The rain didn’t wash the colour out of her eyes, the gun did that he put down on the bedside table. But I want the guilt to get me, thoughts to wreck me, preying on my mind, this was a-ha’s. First single off their second album. a-ha were and are sooooooo much more than take on me that sadly so many people think is all they were.

This song was from only 1 year after Take on Me, part of the Scoundrel Days album, which was a more rock/pop infusion than the previous album. However it wasn't that surprising, since synth pop was already starting to fall off, but still a big departure from what made them famous. They kind of backtracked with the 3rd album, and mixed the 2 styles, but then abanonded synth pop completely from their 4th album and onwards.

He's shot her. ("Set the gun down on bedside table")That's why it wasn't the rain that washed out the color of her eyes. He's in shock that he's done it and keeps asking her to talk to him...He's lost his way for sure!.
