    key takeaways for those who don't have time to watch the full video: Fear of the unknown and fear of potential negative outcomes often prevent individuals from pursuing their interests and goals. While it's natural to fear how friends, family, or the wider internet might react to your choices, allowing these fears to control your actions can prevent you from realizing your potential. Overcoming challenges is part of the growth process. By avoiding new challenges, you may inadvertently stifle your own growth. Change doesn't need to be drastic or immediate. Gradual shifts towards your interests and goals can be more sustainable and less overwhelming. Seeking external validation is part of the process of understanding how your actions or contributions are perceived. While it shouldn't be your sole motivation, feedback can be helpful in guiding your journey. There's no need to be the "best" or "unbreakable." The main focus should be on your ability to navigate through different terrains of life. Understanding your worth and acknowledging your interests and values can help guide your decisions and align them more closely with your true self. While financial stability is important, it shouldn't prevent you from exploring and pursuing interests outside your current job. The compounding effect of small, daily decisions can have a significant impact over time. Every small step in a new direction can potentially lead to substantial growth. Acting in accordance with your heart or curiosity, rather than from a place of fear or scarcity, can lead to more fulfilling outcomes. Recognizing that you're allowed to pursue what you want and live a life that aligns with your values is a crucial step towards self-fulfillment. Slow and steady progress is key. Transforming your life is not a quick fix, but a long-term journey that requires patience and perseverance.

    It takes all my time to just take care of me and my dogs. I wish I had more time to think about purpose. But I don't. What I found out was that being. And staying alive is purpose enough. Breathing. Watching the sun rise. Watching the sun set.. And everything in between.

    You are living your purpose. Loving and having fun, spreading joy is our universal purpose. There are ways to find what our individual purpose is through numerology and astrology (these are our blueprint or maps for ourselves for the energy we are born with). But the main purpose of life is to create, love, and have fun. Western society makes us forget about that with the false agendas/ propaganda they push. Wishing the best for you and your doggos. Peace, Power, and Love 🕊️

    Listen to your heart and soul, curiosity and do not be afraid of doing what you want to try. Do self improvement 24/7. What resonate most with your soul? Psychology, wood working, it stuff, traveling? Ask yourself and pick 3 that resonate most. Don't care about opinions of other. Its better to get some hate and still do what you feel than do something that you hate and betray yourself. Remember by being authentic and doing what you love sooner or later you will meet right people.

    That moment at 13:51 when you say "You don't want to go into that unchartered territory" - and then you take a deep breath. That moment says it all. I'd love to know what your thoughts were, what you were feeling in that moment. I recognize that moment (I think I do anyway), I've experienced that moment many many times. Your words, this whole video, that breath, have all resonated with me deeply. I am both cursed and blessed with a mind that leans towards existentialism on a regular basis...and I see it in you too, David. And it's good to know there are more of us out there, as those exisitentialst thoughts can get pretty lonely.

    Thank you David, you have great content, keep it up! I am turning 31 this year and and until my late 20s I was totally lost. I was successful by society and "matrix" means - had great career, always tried to keep side hustles going on - some were successful and some not so much. Had depressing negative times keeping up with everyones expectations while pushing myself back. Was also changing country to country just to realize in the end that I was just running away from myself. And we all know that's impossible :) Then started to think things through, analyzed myself and came to realization that all I want is freedom - freedom from of everyones expectations, freedom of own choices, no-one bossing around and live the way I WANT, not the way I HAVE to. There is some time where we have to live the way we HAVE to for a while, not the way we WANT, but that's a transition "bridge" period. I have learned so much on my journey that I also decided to make own channel to show my transformation and share the knowledge with people. So many younger and especially older people are lost and don't know what to do. The older ones especially as they (well..we, 31 coming here tho) think that time is lost and everything seems pointless even though its not a all. And one of my purposes is to disrupt that thought in people.S till searching for other purposes as well but I am more than sure I will find them. Great content, keep searching, understanding and developing yourself bro, glad to watch meaningful content🤝 Liked and subscribed.

    Choose something without an expectation, keep at it for a while, see if it sticks. If it doesn't, maybe you found a new interest on the way. Looking at life fluidly rather than as a set course of action(s). It's good that you added in financial realities to ground the topic. The external validation piece you spoke of is something that I've been without, for the most part. A very limited social life, closed off. In part a consequence of this day and age, the other part distrust and disappointment. Best to you and your channel, sir.

    An alternative is to study Maslow's hierarchy of needs, seek a psychotherapist etc and admit that we're lacking in some areas and then working out what we can do to compensate. For example, not having a family life where we have social interaction on tap will have a major influence upon our social and mental health; and thinking up strategies to compensate such as shopping, voluntary work in the community etc rather than travelling aimlessly is a more positive strategy for some. I don't think we're here for a 'purpose' anymore than a blade of glass blowing in the wind has 'purpose'. We're at the mercy of our biological makeup and experience this being buffeted about by our physical and social environments without our consent most of the time. But we do at least have a say in the current script our life is taking.

  • @hcf555

    @hcf555

    As I've got older I'm more inclined to this way of thinking too in respect to purpose. Also think that the 'lower down' you are physically and mentally on the hierarchy the less you are able to think about purpose and 'actualising'.

The day I found my path I quit my job took a vow of celibacy and basically dropped off the face of the earth for more than a decade. I supported myself with odd jobs. I started doing art. I found a patron after a long time and that stabilized my living situation and my health. No, I don't recommend it for anyone else. Know what? Did it bring a change in the world? Nothing. I am a fool. Lol. But that's tao and I've never strayed from it. Even now it's time for my vows to fall away and the path is still underfoot. 😂😂

    What makes me angry is that life isn't fair. Diseases and natural disaster can affect our lives and choices so that we are not free to create the life we would like to have even if we knew what it is. We are so fragile. Maybe that's why I'm also so "brave" in a way, cause I've been sick for so long in my life. There really is no time to be unhappy and scared, we gotta savour every moment of blessing. But still, we gotta pay bills.

  • @Lyrielonwind

    Although life is not fair (illness, inequalities, etc) I think we blame life when we should blame society and how we interact with each other. Life hasn't hurt me as much as my conditioning, brainwashing and gaslighting starting with my family ( I'm the scapegoat) and from that point on with most people I had to interact with. Although life must be tough and pain unavoidable, the suffering humans has been inflicting towards others just for the sake of control and power is what bother me most. We shouldn't blame life when we are talking about back stabbing, betrayal or just lack of empathy for others.

    Life not being fair is like getting a bad number when one rolls the dice. Unlucky. People not being fair is a different issue. We can respond to them anywhere from ignoring them to calling them out, all the way to taking action against them, that is, whatever suits us at that point in time. Life not being fair can be fun to play the game of life even if the odds are stacked against us. We have got to be calm and not let it break us.

    David, has anyone told you that you are a GIFTED ADULT (haut potentiel intellectuel, in French) ? I can tell you that you are, right now, because I was diagnosed 4 years ago at...64 years old and it is obvious to me. It's worth checking because if I am right, you are about to find out who you are, man. Believe me, it's quite something. Brace yourself. All you'll have to do is decide on your Ikigai or raison d'être : it will be something you will burn for that will connect you to something bigger than yourself, an absolute priority that nothing will ever equal. You won't have to work on it, it will be IT. Intensity, complexity and drive : The Gifted are born with a brain that is wired differently from the norm -- high speed, arborescence and complex thinking, unusual connections that allow to see more and feel more, more developed zones, neuronal efficiency and neurodiverse brain, high IQ. Medical Imagery is revealing many surprising findings that make perfect sense. You can google the following : "The Gifted Brain Revealed Unraveling the Neuroscience of the Bright Experience." Nicole A. Tetreault, PhD and Matthew J. Zakreski, PsyD When you are a Gifted person, you search for meaning, you're a seeker of ultimate truths, you function according to an intrinsic drive and set of values and have a hard time falling for extrinsic rewards like money and power everyone else seems to want, even though you know that's what's expected and maybe needed ? You feel aversion for rules and authority, you doubt, you experience constant and complex thinking. Talent, talent talent, gifts, gifts, gifts, the feeling that one is different, constant quest for authenticity which is very important to you, you have great humor with an off-beat twist, you have exceptional verbal skills, writing skills, existential depression, depression, depression, high integrity, extreme sensitivity and awareness, difficulty in finding people who match, people don't get you easily, boredom boredom boredom, aversion for small talk and superficial stuff, acute awareness of lack of meaning of what others seem to crave for, you set high standards for yourself and are your worst critic, you can see many sides to one topic, you react strongly to injustice and suffering in the world, you need complete autonomy and yet are dependent in some ways. I could go on and on but you get the idea. Here is an excerpt from Mary-Elaine Jacobsen's book - The Gifted Adult: A Revolutionary Guide for Liberating Everyday Genius (get a hold of it and see what it does to you; there are a few excellent books and ressources on the subject out there if you are interested) : "Are you relentlessly curious and creative, always willing to rock the boat in order to get things done . . . extremely energetic and focused, yet constantly switching gears . . . intensely sensitive, able to intuit subtly charged situations and decipher others' feeling?" The author knows what she is talking about and she has an interesting approach : it should catch your attention. If it does, seek an expert in the Gifted, a psychologist who specializes in the detection and guidance of the Gifted Adult and has deep interest in the subject plus good experience -- personal if possible. We need to understand our gifts and vulnerabilities so that both serve us well. Both are our strengths but depression can lift once we know who we are and what we are here for. It could be something you've never imagined ! Tests are available but they are crazy expensive. In my mind, you won't need them because once your mind is set on this, you will quickly get to know everything you need to know ! Whatever you decide, it's your choice. Know that many people hesitate. PS : be cautious with your entourage. This is loaded and people can have strange reactions of denial, disbelief or push back because it is intimidating and they will have a hard time understanding what it is and all the implications. It's worth being prudent. Cheers, mate, from France ! Jany 😊
