The first thing I check is the AC filters. Almost every hotel I have stayed at with a split cycle AC "worldwide" never cleaned the filters! Lol, I end up having to do that job! Dirty filters look disgusting, and you can usually tell just by listening to the sound it makes.

I visited the city in 2010. There is a special temple that you can visit. Also called the AIDS temple. It is more of a shelter for HIV-infected people who have lost their family or work due to their infection. Which is also typical of these cultures that are completely based on losing face. I visited this place and I must say that I was a bit shocked by it. Yet I was welcomed very kindly by a local guide. What was also very special is that almost everyone who worked there was HIV positive. For those who still live under a rock: HIV can only be contracted through unprotected sexual contact or through infected blood. Very sad but interesting place. There are also videos on KZread.

Peter, you said you were the only foreigner at the temple but I think I saw Beckham. Can you confirm ?

Nice video about the hotel. Have been to Lopburi in March 2024 and I must say.... if you want to see thre monkeys it is not worth the tour. You are done in 15min to 20min and you will realise that the "monkey plague" like "monkeys tyrannise a whole town" is absolutly exaggerated. One of the most overhyped places in Thailand. Instead of sterilising the monkeys there they should rather do something against these straydogs. They are more dangerous and everywhere in Thailand. I stayed by the way in Lopburi Inn.

@@ThailandBound Yes, but compared to Ayutthaya or Sukhothai? Not really much to see in the town. What is nice is the surrounding. I drove to the "Floating Train" at Pak Sak Djolasid dam. Not much to see, but anyway a very Thai place.
