This song got my me through ( I know we all take it our own ways) my alcohol addiction, I didn't find a "higher power" or much of any reason. The first time I heard this song, with Christina, it was cool, but not the power you see and feel when he sings alone. I had a bottle of rum in front of me when I first watched this video and the words just clicked, I literally just stared at the bottle and played this over and over. Anywhere I would have followed that damn bottle, it was the one that I loved and I was saying goodbye. Say something, I'm giving up on you. That bottle couldn't say a damn thing. Been 1 year now. Sometimes we find a meaning in a song that changes our lives, this has changed mine everyday.

This song is about leaving people you love and problems where your loved ones fight. In the music video, it represented ending a relationship where you were drifting apart, a child who wants her parents to stop fighting and an old man saying goodbye to his dying wife.... That bit makes me cry every time to watch the video...

i lost my grandmother two years ago then i heard this song one month later it reminds me of her every-time, especially seeing her at the funeral knowing that she won't be able to see my face again and that of her children!just seeing the one person whom inspired my mum and didn't force her to marry off some guy whom she didn't love like the tribal African traditions. A mother going against the traditions just to make her daughter happy, is a mother worth to be cherished, thank you grandma! your love showed to us the true meaning of true love, grandma wherever you are, i know you are watching over us, we miss you daily wish you could say something !

My husband is a Marine. I am so proud of him. He said this song is one of the most powerful songs he has ever heard.

The passion he puts into this song is incredible and it just makes you realize there are still some singers out there who put their heart and soul into what they do and it's not all about the money!.

I first heard this song 2 years ago, I had just caught my now ex wife cheating but I still wanted her back... the night I decided I had to let her go was the night I was laying on my best friends couch and this song came on the tonight show, luckily no one was around to hear me cry, but it changed me and helped me realize I had a lot of poison in my life..I'm so much happier now

Most singers sound like crap live compared to all the editing they do for their recorded versions. This guy is different. He's the real deal either recorded or live.

What an awful response to a beautiful song. Leave him and be done with it. Your concern in a break up like this should be the person who loves you more than anything and is gonna get his heart broken. Think about starting on your own once you've handled the heart of your partner in the most caring way you can. Don't talk about it on the internet, it's a private matter until you stop being a coward and resolve it like an actual adult. I love his passion,emotion and energy in this song. It certainly hits a spot watching him.

I love this way more than the duet with Christina. I think the emotion of his frail voice holds far more emotion than that of a diva ever could singing about heartbreak.

The truth is she will never come back, I did clean all the chat history, and zoning out when I look at her pictures, reminisce all the days that I stayed with her

My favourite song at the moment.

I could watch him play all day, such passion!

Very moving I felt the power in this performance and it left me in tears. A movie played in my head and I could see the struggle to keep this dying love alive. Beautiful song, beautiful soul that wrote these words, deep and passionate performance. A joy to watch and to hear. Thank you.

Ugh he has such a natural voice. He doesn't use any pop techniques like temoloing his voice or trying to drag out notes. He doesn't need to. It makes me sick with jealousy.
