I think the Marine Corps has the right idea running 13-man squads, leave plenty of Manpower for the assaulting element and support elements while leaving enough to establish a security element and the squad leader focus on leading rather than having to fight and Lead at the same time. When I was in the army our nine-man squads just seemed a little too small and squad leader always seemed overworked

Some of the Regiments are also transitioning to 15-man squads with a Assistant Squad Leader(also assisted by the new Squad Systems Operator) to spread load the control more, while still keeping the FT Leaders and pushing the billet ranks one higher

Use the LVSR in the SUP category or either the Super Stallion or Ospreys to bring in supplies. Click the unit then you can have them transport infantry and/or supplies from the spawn and unload wherever. The supplies drop a radius that will reinforce infantry, repair vehicles and replenish ammo for all units until you run out from that load of supplies. This is good for setting up fallback positions so you don't leave weak units on the front to die needlessly.

Playing this demo made me want to have a co-op just to have somebody play as CO and the other as XO. Coordination of forces and Sustainment is so freaking important in this game. It's hard to play as both roles. I always seem to lose my IFVs and APCs when I drop back to manage sustainment. Supply takes getting used to. It is different enough from wargame that it ends up being unintuitive. Vehicles must unload supplies in order for units to use it. You also have to deploy them with supply, you can't just call in the roll-up truck, it'll show up bone dry if you don't fill it with supply. This allows you to build supply points while having vehicles do supply runs. It is annoying that units cannot just take supplies directly from the trucks, even if it makes sense in the case of the roll-up. The cool thing is airlifting supplies works pretty well in this regard. Unfortunately the recon task force lacks amphibious or air assault-able logistics vehicles. Makes sustainment crossing the canal pretty problematic. Units end up having to pull off the line instead of just having the truck drop off their resupply right behind their building. That or your helos are doing death-runs with speedballs of ammo to the poor guys stuck defending the apartments. In my playthrough of the mission I took the initial marines and deployed them to the left side in the apartments. I figured I'd need the majority of my combat power there to clear the heavily urbanized areas. I deployed dragon teams to the center structures with the Force Recon cats and ordered in more mortars when I had the points too. Pushed through the first block of apartments and paused for sustainment. Pre-assault bombardment from 3 LAV-Ms gave them cover and acted as pre-assault bombardment. Note: You can queue up several linear fire missions in a row. Drop 2 on the objective, a 3rd with smoke, 4th and subsequent end up being a walking barrage to the rear to disrupt reinforcement or counterattack. Once the smoke drops I know fires are shifting and the assault can begin movement. While sustainment was happening on the left, I called up 2 more recon teams in LAVs and started leap frogging through the residential district on the right. Next stage got pretty hairy. In the next block of apartments we ran into heavy enemy resistance from mutually supporting infantry elements, BRDMs and T-72s. Infantry must have support or will die horribly. I withdrew the mangled infantry squads, using the buildings as cover and mortars covering the retreat. I had the dragon teams leap frog up through the apartments on the left until they were supporting the marine squads. I ordered fires on the known enemy positions and pushed up with dragon support. Enemy vehicles ended up dying horribly to the dragons and I called up the AAVs to assist in dislodging the infantry. Note: Attack move seemed very useful here. Even suppressed infantry seem to be able to engage vehicles with AT very effectively. M2s and MK19s outrange RPG-7s though. Best to keep your light armor out of range. The center apartments and remaining houses on the right went rather smoothly with the tank company destroyed. Fixed the enemy with direct fires, reduced them with indirect, and destroyed them with marines in close combat. The marine counterattack ended up being very, very ineffective. Linear fire missions down the two high speed avenues of approach quickly reduced their combat power and their attack floundered. The recon marines on the right ended up taking little to no contact and were free to maneuver on the enemy counterattack. So I gave the order and the dismounts and LAVs ended up making an L shape and further reduced the enemy from range before assaulting through. Ended up losing a an LAV and two AAVs to a BDRM with Konkurs on the beach protecting the last two IADS launchers. Ended up shelling it with the 81mms until it died. The commander ended up yelling at me twice before I captured the starfort. I organized a big resupply with the Super Stallion. Called up the remaining marine squads and landed forces on the far left and right of the star fort. I had expected the star fort the be heavily defended so I opted to encircle it before assaulting. One LAV-M was on star fort suppression duty with alternating smoke and HE missions. The other two were tasked with supporting the left or right pushed. Lost a Viper and a Osprey to AA vehicles on the far right side. The right side pincer then went vehicle hunting. Left side sweep encountered isolated infantry squads, but there isn't much putting up a fight against a platoon of marines with AAV support. Once encircled and AA vehicles destroyed, I sent 4 squads of marines up the fort behind a creeping barrage just to find it abandoned except for one remaining gun. Then the enemy airborne counter attack happened. Which like... I would consider it a ballsy move jumping onto a beach LZ covered by a platoon of marines, but that's what happened. So the left side counterattack died as soon as it hit the ground, but the right side must have been reinforcing by ground as well. I think I counted something like a dozen BMDs destroyed... I lost the apartments mostly due to lack of resupply. The VDV counterattack did not skimp on MANPADs and I lost an Osprey attempting resupply. The right side ended up retrograding significantly, only being bolstered by a platoon of LAVs in the forest to the upper right of the star fort.

Devs said no mod support at launch, but they did say they'll decide on it later. Also, a few people with older builds of the demo unlocked the editor already, and it is really powerful.
