Thanks for sharing, Steve. I've heard it described as a God-shaped vacuum in each of us that only God can fill. So glad I learned the truth of that in my young adult years, after growing up in church. Yes, Ecclesiastes can be puzzling. A man who asked for wisdom, and God was pleased to grant his request. Yet he went on to make some very un-wise choices.

Hi Stephen, I strive daily to fill the hole in my heart by drawing closer to God by excising my Faith. I lean on the verse “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Someday I pray I will be so close to Jesus the hole will no longer be visible. Have a wonderful day and look forward to next Sundays devotion.
