Excellent game & superbly explained.

I was a little hesitant to watch a 27 minute chess video on just one game. But it was worth it! Nimzowitsch was in it for the long haul. The battle for the c4 pawn made me think of the saying "The threat is more powerful than its fulfillment"

One of the best games ever played! One can still nowadays appreciate the value of Nimzovic revolution, how deeply it influenced the strategic concepts.

hello, great video. I have a suggestion (that would make the game easier for me to follow), I hope you will consider it: you show a lot of very cool variations, and that's great, do not stop doing that. But, sometimes I get a bit lost in the variations compared to what is the actual game. I would suggest you have some kind of "variation indicator" on the screen (you have plenty of room on the right side of the screen), for example a big text somewhere that says "Variation from the move E6", and it stays on screen while we look at the variation. And then when you come back to the game you change the text to "Actual game" or something. Or maybe some kind of color code where you have the orange board for actual game and change the board color to blue for variations. I know it will be a pain to edit, and most likely, stronger players than me have no problem following, but personally that would help a lot. In any case if you do it or not, thank you.

"Epic Chess" has solved this problem. When showing lines not played in the game, colours on the board appear slightly lighter. Check it up; in my opinion it's a good solution. I recommend it to "Chess Wisdom", whose presenations are otherwise great indeed.

Thank you for informing me about this problem, I wasn't aware of it. I actually can't edit videos, I've never done it, but I might learn it in the future. But I will keep your suggestion in mind, and will try to make it clearer in the next videos.

No one does this, and it's unnecessary. It doesn't matter what's the "actual game," as real chess players know it's equally necessary to consider it all, regardless of what was eventually played. Just get a little better instead of asking chess commentators to adopt to a new format that caters to your personal preference as a complete beginner.

Seconding another comment on making it very obvious when you are showing a variation vs. the actual game. Either like an icon, or turn the border frame around the board a different color (gray?) when showing variations. Otherwise, great video!

The problem is White cannot prevent the opening of the h file, after which his king will be in trouble. If White plays f5 after Kg7, the following variation is possible: 17... hxg4 18.hxg4 - Rh8+ 19.Kg2 - gxf5 20.gxf5 - Qxf5 and Black is up a pawn, while the white king isn't safe.

I think White didn't want the black bishop to X-ray his queen on e2. For example, after Qe2 and Ba6, Black might think about Nxd5 as the c4 pawn would be pinned.

Nimzowitsch is *TOO* careful and methodical, some would even say *"SLOW"...* If it were Tal playing, he would have finished the game by move 25.... *....AT THE LATEST !!! :P* .

Yes, you're right, Rg1 is also possible. In this case the black queen will move to f3 with a check and after the white king moves to e1 the black rook captures on e3 and Black wins.

What an incredible game by Nimzovitch. Nowadays he would be accused of cheating; enough accusations and the poor sportsmanship.
