A forest full of abandoned cars

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Today we're working with PLSBEND.ORG to remove a few abandoned cars from the forest in preparation for the weekends trash cleanup event. Getting the cars out of the way makes it easier for the volunteers to come in and pick up all the garbage left behind in these camps

It is unbelievable how much of a slob some people are. I live at a beautiful little beach in South Texas that offers up to 14 days of FREE camping. We find that the homeless and the day trippers are the worse. Most all of the campers not only clean up after themselves but help keep the area clean. I rarely drive down the beach without picking up at least a 5 gallon bucket of trash. I commend you for your work you do to assist in the cleanup. I wish there were more out there like you@

The forest is where thieves drop stripped, stolen cars. We used to find them all the time on trails of the Sam Houston National forest back in the 70's. Probably still going on. Just about the time the forest is clean, the damned criminals drop off a whole new batch.

These cars are at least not coming back on the US Forest Service Law Enforcement Rangers computer as stolen. As you probably noticed, each of these vehicles had a orange sticker on it, that is a tow citation from the Forest Service (USFS) advising that they will tow the car if not removed, I would imagine the USFS also run the vin when they cite the vehicle. Being as remote as they are they might wait to run the vin until they are back at the station.

Thank You Casey and PLSBEND! Raising my children in the Lakota way and outdoors, I never let them just take anything from the lands we canoe camped and hiked through. On one trip to Three Rivers Idaho my son's Great Grandma commented about how he wouldn't take a pretty rock but he picked up trash. My son was almost 5 at the time and I know now in his late 20s he behaves the same. Stewardship is not just cleaning as you go and cleaning up after others, though I appreciate all your time and hard work. Stewardship of our public and private lands is also good parenting and being an example for the land. Thank You all who protect our beautiful country by keeping her ready for future generations like my grandchildren. You are in my prayers Hoka Hey

When we moved here in the mid '70s, one of the FIRST things we noticed was the fact that town and most of the surrounding areas were so VERY CLEAN and devoid of debris.... .. UNFORTUNATELY, Central Oregon has been "found out" and with the increase in population (less than 10K/Bend, 2K/Redmond back then) you also get the dregs of society. THANK YOU CASEY AND EVERYONE WHO CAN MAKE IT TO THE CLEAN UP!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️ (how do we find out the fate of those towed vehicles?? Could use some pieces and parts from the FORD!)

It is unfortunate that this is pervasive over the whole country. Here in the NE snowmobiler’s go into the mountains in the wintertime to enjoy the wintertime scenic beauty. Like everywhere else, there are a few who think these wilderness area are their own private dumping grounds. It is left to the local hiking club, who go in each spring, to clean up their mess and like your group it is tons that are removed. Keep up these great videos and I hope they inspire others around the country to do the same.

Those "historical" cans just have me scratching my head. But what do I know....LOL.

Loved how you went straight for the liquid gold and checked that jerry can right off the bat.

What a small world that was the exact truck Casey. Stranger things have happened. Pretty sure I have seen that Honda in Portland before. Indeed they don't get towed, just stolen left and right. Thank you for hauling all these rigs out of the woods. I find that utterly stupid that it is a historical treasure to leave rusted cans by the hundreds out there. #getyourtetanusshotupdatedpeople SOOOO glad you did not lose your tow remote.

One of the first vehicles I could drive was my dad’s 69 F250 Camper Special, green and white. I loved that truck………

I'm surprised you didn't take the jeep home! Good spare parts find: wheels, sheet metal, transfer case, axles etc.

The first truck was camping In a "no camping zone" for weeks before the truck and campsite were abandoned. If the forest service enforced their own rules (14 days limit and "no camping" zones), it would cut down on the collection of litter and abandoned vehicles. Yet I see no enforcement of these rules in Central Oregon . . .

Enforcement of "rules ". That is what is wrong with this country. We have the law called the constitution. Not rules.

Casey, It is great for what you do for the environment and people. My hope is others will follow your and Kevin's example of caring for our forests and help spread this around the country. Good content as usual. 👍👍
