A Food Tour in Little Italy - San Diego
While in downtown San Diego, we took advantage of one of the most highly rated food tours in the United States. Little Italy is a small immigrant enclave in the heart of San Diego that has gone from home to fishermen, canneries and Italian immigrants to a robust cultural festival of food, history and entertainment without losing its roots. In fact, it is its history and reliance on the hard work of those who came before that has made it such a successful revitalization project. We visited 4 restaurants and tried 10 different dishes during our tour. Our guide, Anthony, told stories, shared recipes, and introduced us to the people behind the restaurants that made this meal so special.

You called it. Seriously amazing! Hard to pick favorites as everything was good. But the artichokes, focaccia and gnocchi are Jenn’s standouts. Jonathan can’t choose a favorite.
That was fun! Been forever since I've been in San Diego. Anthony was marvelous!

We’re heading back to Davanti. Their food was spectacular. Anthony is the real deal and really puts together a fabulous tour.
All that food looked amazing and very nice to have the guide to explain things more in depth. I love how you personalized your suit case with your channel name - very clever and probably makes it easy to spot on the luggage carousel.

The food was really spectacular. And the neighborhood is such a good example of authentic revitalization. Anthony, our guide didn’t want me to film him telling the stories. He’s so good in person and everyone deserves to hear him live, but we hope you got a sense of his storytelling ability from the “b” roll.

We both feel like we know San Diego, but this tour was absolutely magnificent. If you're ever in the area, this is a tour worth doing. You won't get a better dinner anywhere, and the history is well worth the price of admission!

If San Diego is ever a port you cruise from, tack this on. You can book it privately or through aviator, TripSdvisor, etc. so worth doing!!!

One of the better tourist traps in San Diego. Family friendly, and nice restaurants to visit, day or night. But the video hosts are are disappointing when they make comments concerning it's recent past. Little Italy was authentic, affordable to locals and visitors. The "New Little Italy" is now $$$.

While it is more expensive, so is most of San Diego, and in this case you really do get a revitalized community that shows off its history in an authentic and entertaining way. We aren't trying to take away from this "old Little Italy," just to highlight how enjoyable the "new Little Italy is."
