A Flock of Ford Hot Rods Found in Fairbanks, AK | Barn Find Hunter - Ep. 52
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Tom finds himself in North Pole, Alaska, where he meets John, an eclectic car guy with all sorts of fun stuff. You’d never guess a stash like this- that includes several Ford hot rods and some very interesting Studebakers-could exist in a remote town in Alaska. But after many years of collecting these vehicles, John seems more than ready to part with most of them... for the right price, of course.

Especially in such a cold climate, Who are we kidding, In a polar region! He must either remove the batteries & store them indoors where it is warm & keep them tended... Even in the North East/Ohio Valley, Keeping one's battery warm is an issue!!! That is my kind of person!!!

Well sure most of them run! He doesn't have a wife or girlfriend who distract him from working on the things he most enjoys!
Gotta love a guy like John. He is keeping it alive and running, way up in Alaska.
This guy was on another level. “Why not?”
This guy's operating on a different level. He works on these cars, drives them, enjoys them and sells them! So satisfying to see.
Agree with most, this guy is on another level a real old school hot rodder. What really blows my mind is that most of these cars start better than anything i've ever owned
What a character! Cool cars too. Who ever thought Alaska would be filled with vintage tin. Thanks for sharing. 😎👍🇺🇸

Now this guy really knows his stuff... and by the sound of those sweet running engines, he also knows how to build an engine and keep it tuned nicely. One of the best episodes yet... wish this guy was my Uncle...!
This man is amazing . All of his cars started ,no problem .
This guy is a real car guy, his cars actually run, as opposed to some of the hoarders you've shown who just let their cars rot.

Ricky - Thanks for watching!
when i lived in Fairbanks in the early 1990's i got to know John, and eventually found out what a great mechanic he is. I bought a mild custom 1964 Chevy half ton trom a young man, and come to find out, John had built the truck. it had a 292 inline six out of a GMC truck that had a warmer cam, twin carbs and headers. I drove that truck for five years, even driving it down to Kentucky and back to Alaska. Gas mileage sucked as he had put a rear end under it out of a three quarter ton truck with rather steep (4:10) gears. Custom interior out of a 1970 Montecarlo. I still regret selling that truck. It currently lives, and drives, in Wasilla, Alaska.

Wow I could spend time in his shop just working on his old cars and trucks, imagine what he knows about them.... best episode ever !!
That dude is a legend, I mean damn near everything he owns runs, how cool is that?! I really liked the Ranchero and the '50 Ford hot rod.....
Yeah, dryer sheets. Tom, you are truly a kind soul.
That was amazing to see that many cars actually start. They were all just ready to drive...blew me away
I like this guy , everything starts right up. He works on his cars and doesn't let them rust away. How much for the red and white 32?

I watched an old NASCAR video with Tom as a contributor. Many years ago when we were all much younger. Keep up the Barn Hunter videos. Great series.
My favorite episode so far, but then again, I have a '33 Ford truck with a '51 Mercury flathead in it. That guy is such a character, wish I lived down the road from him.
Obviously, that guy knows how to set up a flathead. Inline or V8. They all start in less than one revolution !! "KOOL" !!! That four banger with the overhead conversion purred !! 👍👍👍
Would have loved to have heard a word about the green wood sided hearse / ambulance you kept walking past.
Have this guy on again he and his collection is fantastic!
Wow, great seeing classics I never knew existed, thank goodness for passionate people who keep these alive.
Best episode yet. This fella is just the greatest tinkerer ever.
Sweet, love to see old guys still so enthusiastic about their cars.
“I haven’t started it all summer”. Vroom !!!!!!! Lol. Great Mechanic! Thanks for another great lazy-Boy adventure for me!
This came up in my recommended, and I am glad it did. From the UK, once the bug is in your system it'll never leave, even tho I have a modern motor now, still love Hot Rods.
It Speaks Volumes About The Man That Everything Starts & Runs!! He Is A Funny Old Man Too!!
50 years ago in New Zealand ,one of the guys i delivered News papers too had a 37' Stude coupe .His had no front fenders, just guards made from a 36" Ford spare wheel cover and a GMC 302 Six engine. They are one stylish car.

You get a flathead! You get a flathead! You get a flathead! Flathead HEAVEN! The Stude coupe was the queen of the ball here for me. Rare beauty. $18K? worth every single penny. It was all great, though. He has legit toys with soul. If I hit Powerball I'll hit him up and get a few tractor-trailers loaded up. .
Love people like this dude! Doing his thing, living his life enjoying his passion and just getting on with it. Respek!
Very impressed with John that he had so much stuff working. He deserves to have every one of those cars and will leave a legacy of great vehicles behind. Very knowledgeable and capable. I have no doubt he doesn't take on a project he won't finish, and he ish't afraid to drive his stuff. Such a neat collection of restomod, full restoration and sympathetic restoration too. It makes me sad when you see a yard of cars that will rot and die on false hopes from a horder that could go elsewhere and have something done with them.
How fun. I used to drive some of those old cars. Love them. Thanks for sharing.
Great episode....this is one of the only episodes i seen where the owner starts the cars up and they fire right up.....Sweet
Wow! What a nice collection !
My Dads been using dry sheets since the 90s but just the right amount of moth balls added will keep the classics smelling classic every time you pull them out for the season 😁
Kinda restores my faith in America. Thanks Tom and Hagerty.
Thank you so much for these videos. Father and son in Norway, Europe watching it.

Thanks again to Haggerty & Tom, this guy John...only in Alaska does a guy with a Rat Fink t-shirt not know about dryer sheets BUT does know how to keep vintage iron running! Btw..the Studebaker looks better with the original bed then the later Dodge swept style that was on their 1/2 tons.

Impressive collection and tasteful upgrades !!! A pleasure to see this and several of the other great videos in here!
That Power Wagon ambulance is the BOMB
The person is so cool and has so much knowledge of his inventory, he has given all details asked and is a real car person who is never bored about talking of his car, awesome.
Amazing collection!! And they run and drive.. this man appreciates his cars.
I have been watching these Alaskan videos and LOVIN' them . I never would have thought there would be so many old car folks up there .Really enjoyed seeing John's collection of very unique automobiles , cool guy .
