I appreciate your opinion and I LOVE this song as well, but, if you enjoy this, look up the songs 'the hat ned kelly wore' or something like 'moreton bay'. Garry Shearston has a whole album that is just brilliant, sings in the style of luke kelly but with Australiana lyrics. The Cobbers are good too. We actually have some wonderful Australian folk songs about bushrangers and our history of rebellion and uprisings against tyranny. I didn't know about it either until very recently, give it a try

My God girl - what a thought. Can you imagine what these elitist socialists would put into a new constitution, the poor Brits are now fighting to loosen the bonds of the EU. So few people nowadays have any idea of how government and politics is supposed to work - all hand outs and crony subsidies. Actors, ABC, all corrupted socialists and I doubt this man is any different, just stirring the pot without much thought. Don't give any more power to these elites who have taken over our political systems. Sadly Australia has always tended towards socialism and the Unions have corrupted the work place. We would end up with Apartheid for starts, most of the outback is closed off already. Careful what you wish for.

@SnJester by your logic, everyone in the world is pretty much from a different country, but we all like independence, hence why australia isn't called britain 2. (i know thats not the real reason) Australians have an accent, a country, and a culture, that are all separate from our origins. I'm half irish, but i call myself an australian, because i am. this is australia, and thats where i'm from.

Keep the flag. Hopefully Britain leaves the EU properly and can start focusing on making the commonwealth great again

@bostonjack100 Personally, I think the Eureka flag should be our National Flag. But who knows, maybe the Aboriginal flag should be our national flag?

I respect my ancestors who fought and died for this flag John. If you don 't like it go somewhere else. Have some respect for the diggers ,they fought for this flag as much they fought for the country . Learn Aussie history and your family tree .Go and see where your ancestors came from not just going to England but find the towns your family came from and you might have some respect for your family and the diggers .Very proud Aussie. English ,Irish ,Scottish, Welsh , convict ,highwaymen , Bush ranger , First fleet Family history no longer JW fan .

well the diggers didn't fight for the flag They were mostly young blokes looking for adventure and travel because Australia in the early 1900's was bloody dull. when they got into turkey and started getting killed they suddenly realised holy crap this sucks and England is using us so if were going to out live this we need to stick together and that's where the ANZAC legend was born.

Australia was also founded by Chinese , Arabs, Americans, etc. England does NOT have a mortgage on this country. Read your history, Churchill was willing to sacrifice Australia to the Japanese during WW2 and would have, but for Curtain telling him where to get off.

I for one am proud of our flag. I have no problem flying it and yes, it does say where we came from. So what! enough of the white guilt trips, we are what we are and we came from where we did.

Reading between the lines here somewhat. It appears that the Ned Kelly connection comes from the myth that Kelly intended to proclaim a Republic in North East Victoria. However, that was nonsense dreamed up by Ian Jones who was a Kelly fan who wrote books, lauding Kelly, when in fact he was a vicious stand-over-thug and murderer of police. Ned Kelly NEVER mentioned a republic, and it was all made up nonsense. By the way, I really like John's music. Fav song is Cootamundra Wattle.
