I bought a SJ20 weeks ago, use it after work on the way home, 7~8pm. Works fine for now and the video is indeed brighter than the Akaso that I have been using for months. Will keep guys updated!

It's so weird how the outer edges of the frame are like they are out of focus, low light is poor, slow-motion looks like frame doubling, SJCAM has really fallen so far back from years ago. Great Spot on Review

I hope that this year there might be some good new actioncams. HiSilicon seem to be back, and Ambarella have some new developments. Sure, the best years about action cams are behind us, but I always hope to see something fresh ❤️

It's fun watching these reviews. Yours was refreshingly honest, others, well, after reviewing this camera myself and knowing that it's capable of not much more than a calculator, I know who's on the payroll and who isn't. For a similar price you can pick up the DJI Action 2, a camera light years ahead, and funnily enough, a couple of years older.

Nah, there are some pretty awesome reviewers that liked it because they probably didn't use it for long enough. It is not horrible, just not worth the price tag, in my opinion.

@@TechMishka I guess comparing it to the latest from the main three players it's hard for me to look at it in any light at all. The image wasn't even the worst thing, but the sound and OS. Personally, I wouldn't spend a penny on it, and I feel bad for the company as they seemed really nice, but their product is just not ready for production in my opinion.

Good Job with the Review . As for the 2nd night lens havve you checked if it is real and not just a fake ?

Only bought this because someone was selling it cheap in Marketplace and I need a camera right then and there. I can say that I'm happy with the product despite its flaws. Let me explain why. Coming from the M20 and SJ6 Legend, (M20 won't turn on no more, while I sold the SJ6L because it's not using USB C) I like the camera, the stabilization and the underwater performance of this SJ20 better. I only shoot at 1080/30FPS and for me the quality is better than my previous cameras. Underwater vids are a lot brighter and more detailed than the SJ6L. The only thing I don't like about this is that I wished to use it as a car dashcam when I'm not using it as an action camera but the body and case that it came with won't allow me to plug it in on a car charger while it is being used as a dashcam. I'm now considering the C300 as it can be mounted and charged at the same time.

I have a sjcam c300 and it's ok at 2k and considering upgrading to gopro hero 10 for night time filming but does it have video zoom function ? Cheers

The video zoom function is usually just a software zoom. Low light videos are usually not good with action cams...

@@TechMishka indeed a pocket action camera will not make a low light area any brighter I was thinking of illuminated area's that my sj c300 does not do. I have watched videos of gopro videos at night i in illuminated area's and it appears like what the eyes see and I should have explained that I meant does the gopro have some digital zoom or not

I wonder if the manufacturer for SJ Cam has just over bought these sensors thinking there would be a much higher market share. so now they put 2 in the camera hoping they will sell through all of them. And then they can buy more modern better hardware to put into their cameras

Can you help me by telling me what is the maximum memory cad for sj20? I only have 1tb micro sd and it seems like its not capable of handling 1tb.. i did some search and some says just. 64gb some says 128gb is max some says 256gb and some says 512gb. I dont know which one if true. I dont want to buy multiple micro sd for me to do a trial and error. 😂😂😂😂 hope you can help.

This model has so much potential but sadly they're not investing in producing better video and image which is the sole purpose of people wanting to buy it at the first place. I don't mean on par with current DJI, GoPro or Insta360 but at the price point of $200, we can easily choose to buy a used DJI Osmo Action or Hero 9 that can perform wayyyy better than this SJ20.

It is. Click mechanism is much worse though.

Currently the hero 10 is only 10$ more ! And has much better quality than sjcams joke Get the hero 10 if your on this pricepoint The 11 is 60$ more if you want that ! Dont forget to consider dji an insta 360 for great cameras

Why not talk about bigger brands like DJI or GOPRO with very big problems of overheating cameras. Do you think they did anything about it? Did they withdraw them from the market? So compared to Chinese companies there is no difference in terms of custumer service! Samsung at least pulled its phones when the batteries exploded, but when you spend a lot of money on a camera and you can't hold it for more than 15 minutes because it burns you, do you still think it's worth it?

These thermal issues are exaggerated. And we talk about two very different things. GoPro, DJI and Insta360 work fine and offer quality software experience letting you go for close to professional grade footage with the right kind of knowledge and expectations. Yes, some of them might overheat - and this happens if you leave them on a hot day recording 4K120 FPS. And they do have this protection added in the firmware. They have the sensors for it. SJCAM may also overheat, and you may find out about it after the SoC is fried and no longer usable. For the record - Sony mirrorless cameras may also overheat. And this is fine - these are currently the limits of today's tech. But selling 2018 technology rebranded as award-winning camera is ... in my opinion - close to criminal.

Of course it is not going to match the top three brands, those top three brands are also a complete rip off with action cam technology moving at a snails pace.
