Thank you for a very good review, good pace, clear and to the point. I planned on buying it until you also mentioned the downsides: Wind noise not filtered out, unsatisfying Internal Mic, and especially NO effective EIS (!) - that last one is critical for Action sports of course. So I ended up going for the Akaso Brave 4 that costs half the price of the SJ8 and answers my own needs (great EIS).

Great review 😊. But when u record with SJ8 dual screen, does the screen activate on both front and back or just one of them?

It's one sided at a time with shutter button working to change from front to back and vise versa.

Hi, great review thanks, I recently purchased the SJCAM SJ8 PRO camera plus the SJCAM Gimbal 2, great kit except cannot get the app - SJCAM Zone to connect to the gimbal at all plus trying to connect the camera is a nightmare. Does anyone know if there is a solution to this or if there is any other app that will control the gimbal? TIA for any input.

Given the experience with SJ cam 6 legend I would say that a gimbal is a must with SJ cam.

Hi, it doesn't really have stabilization, it's good as an overall camera. I use it as a secondary camera as can't get as good as a go pro but it's much much cheaper

I have this camera, totalled it into a wall trying to poweloop a bridge with my drone 🤣

They have a c100 plus that I own too, good cams but for drones there are better options such as go pro and insta360, for your use case scenario it's perfect though

@@droneuk yeah I saw that thanks. still not decided here though. particularly bc the lack of stabilization. watched another video of guy on a scooter and stuff and not so good. seems the more i research these more affordable than GP options the more i just get sent back to GP...

Does it have a microphone?

Do I need a card reader or can I check the footage with the card still in the cam

All videos and images can be seen in the camera screen directly from card or on mobile through wifi with the sj cam software.

does it have a 3.5 mm audio jack for microphone

You'll have to get the sjcam external mic. One with a mini-usb for older cameras up to the sj7 star or the usb-c for the sj8 and above.

You have to download the SJ cam software from app store to your phone. Open the software, switch on wifi on both sj cam and phone and choose sj cam from your available wifi connection shown on screen. Once connected you can control the sj cam from phone or copy media from sj cam to phone.

Please does it support external mic

Correct. It doesn't state this has image stabilization. For how I used the camera it's good for its use. But if you want smooth footage unfortunately it's the higher end action cameras you need like the Go Pro. I use this as a secondary camera where it doesn't need to be smooth

For about $100 you can get image stabilization on the Akaso v50x.
