A Dream Family Tiny House Design

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this weeks episode we meet an inspiring couple who have designed an incredible tiny home for their young family.
There’s plenty of space, with a large living room and kitchen and a playroom for the kids. Everything has been designed with easy family living and safety for the children in mind, with secure features added throughout the home to give the parents peace of mind.
Mitch and Taj have created a beautiful home for their family here. This home goes to show that with some good design and with a little help from some great philosophy, it’s possible for a young family to thrive in a tiny house.
Completely off-the-grid and parked up on a stunning rural section, it’s a dream place for them to raise their beautiful family.

In case Taj sees this message, re your Early Childhood degree, you might be interested in John (Caldwell) Holt's work and books, and Peter Gray's at Freedom to Learn (find him at Psychology Today). They're not the big names, like Piaget and similar, but they made - and in Gray's case, is still making - an incredible contribution re their observations of learning and experience in children (young, and older). You'll probably find their perspectives particularly intriguing, because they tie into your holistic and free-range lifestyle. P.S. Gorgeous tiny home! Love it.

Those steps are a genius build, especially how you can make the lowest disappear for safety reasons with the kiddies. The kitchen - is to dream for! So much room. Your whole home is a dream. The only thing I would not be too keen on is the headspace upstairs - but for the kiddies it is absolutely fantastic. You have really made a beautiful home, lacking nothing. The deck is really something! Think I would have added insect screens around the deck lol. I just love how you have done everything, it’s gorgeous and so functional - you are so lucky for the help you had. I wish you all the most awesome family life there. The living room/lounge area is a great size in this house, with room for them to change as the kids grow. They certainly have room for a longer sofa in the future, or to add a reading chair. And having the office corner is a great feature as well. The projector screen is perfect as it both eliminates the need for an actual TV, and also provides extra privacy in the evenings. (Obviously the need for privacy is dependent on where they the home is parked.) And their kitchen has more counter and cabinet space than I've had in any standard house I've ever lived in. 🙂

Thanks Bryce thanks Rasa, thanks to to Mitch & Taj for letting us see through their lovely home... Such a loving couple, cute kids, safety rails around the patio that is very sensible. Gate at the top of the kids stairs excellent...but I'm I'm sorry what was with your child chopping lettuce with that big sharp knife or had the blade been filed down, I had to go back for a 2nd look I thought I was seeing things, nearly gave me a heart attack... love how the kids are allowed to play with the musical instruments.. please watch the littlie with that plectrum - so easily swallowed in the blink of an eye... gorgeous well planned home. Its so great how NZ'ers will open up their land for someone else to get a little home of their own...its not a difficult thing to do and probably that little corner would have just stayed vacant anyway, thanks to all of the land owners who open their hearts to give young families a go.. **I heard on the news tonight that in Oz 'granny flats (and I hopefully Tiny Homes too) have been given the green light to be built without the red tape - what fantastic news, maybe this will encourage people to put one in their yards and rent them out to singles or couples with or without kids, I'll certainly be looking for one to easy our rental burden in sth wst WA... see below for the 'cut & paste....apologies for this long comment "The relaxed amendments to Residential Design Codes (R-Codes) will boost housing supply by removing the minimum lot size requirements for an ancillary dwelling, commonly known as a granny flat. The alternative housing type will no longer require council planning approval and can be constructed on any property lot size.30 Jan 2024"

Lovely home and location. But the lack of height upstairs is bothering me. I don't see how it works when you need to clean and make beds, and as the kids grow beyond toddler hood... having to crawl down a long hallway to get into the children's room to read to them or anything else would grow old pretty quickly for me. But, I'm tall like Bryce. I agree with everyone's admiration for Bryce and Rasa's quality videos. They are heads and shoulders (sic!) above others.
