    Sally is a treasure. I just adore her. Its sad that the teachers didn't know how to work with her son. These are the people who should be good at critical thinking. I really hope the hosepipe story was exaggerated for comedic effect but it probably wasn't.

  • @BooRadleyTube

    @BooRadleyTube

    2 жыл бұрын

    I don't think that's fair. It sounds like the teachers are doing their best and engaging with the parents as much as possible, but every child is different, so working out how best to help them is a learn-as-you-go experience. Just because they got wet doesn't mean they failed, and it doesn't sound like Sally was criticising the teachers.

  • @beatrix380

    @beatrix380

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@BooRadleyTube The problem is that mainstream teachers and, crucially, TAs in mainstream AND specialist provision schools are horribly undertrained in special needs teaching. Teachers do their absolute best with what they’ve got, and get paid a pittance for it, but the problem is really with teacher training itself and professional standards for the job. I think that most teachers go into the job with great intentions, but, unfortunately, good intentions do not make teachers equipped, and as more and more kids with additional needs are in mainstream, the more urgently teacher training needs to be completely changed.

    Her comment although sarcastic about the downside of feminism is actually quite funny and self-deprecating which comes off as kind of charming and funny at the same time. "They don't care about the clothes you wear sweatheart.. they just want you to use up here." :) And actually in reverse parallel of her sentiments. Aside from wanting to be intellectually sound, I've now taken to dressing smarter too, so I'm hoping I look good walking into a room as well as years of practice trying to get the brain in a good space. These are great little vingettes with Romesh. Again, loving the content BBC 3 is putting out lately.

    Dude.. did you even watch the video? It was a click-baity "controversial" title just based on a joke she made about the downside of feminism. Hardly calls for discussion on man-hating feminism. And basically I'm watching their homeless series and one on poverty in UK and another doc about the GrindR killer that may have been found quicker if the police took seriously the evidence from friend of one of the victims. One about drug-dealing networks extending to small towns in the midlands featuring young men, groomed by older dealers for a life of crime. Nothing radical or feminist about it - just good documentary filmmaking. Look if just watch Count D, Sargon and Computing Forever videos you'll see everything like that. And while those guys are right a lot of the time, it doesn't mean everything is like that. . And BBC might put out some crap like that every now and then but doesn't negate the some of the quality they've put out recently, particularly on BBC 3.

    oh yeah voting rights, divorce laws, access to contraception, the ability to get jobs, not having to stop work as soon as you get married... All downsides obviously. Let me just get to back to my husband and talk to my mother about who we’re going to marry my 14 year old sister to! Sorry to disturb you- a little woman like me should not be expressing her opinion!

    Let third wave feminists tell you about how useless their movement is. Unless you accept it and engage with it, you are surely ignorant to the benefits it brings to the 1st world.
