A Doctor's Guide to UK - SHO and Registrar (Episode 3)

In this third video of our series, me and Aditya discuss our experiences of working as an SHO and then as a Registrar in the NHS as part of the Mch Wrightington program in UK. A brief summary of the medical education system compares to the one in India and what to possibly expect in those designations.

Hi Sindhuja, if you can get a registrar job that would be great. However, if that's hard to get, even taking a SHO job might not be a idea to get into the system and then work your way up.. Training numbers need you to go through the process of it all. Send us an email on yourmentor121@gmail.com if you have further queries !!

A very generic query my friend. It completely depends on your expectations and goals in life. However if you are contemplating a long term in the UK without the option of going back to india, the sooner you move to UK with lesser experience in orthopaedic training, the easier it will be in the UK to enter specialty training, although the route will be slightly longer. the sooner you decide, the easier will be for you. you can make a list of all the pros and cons and decide in accordance with your long term goals

  • @EkanshDebuka

    3 жыл бұрын

Both options have their pros and cons. If one was so easily better than the other, everyone would have opted for the one choice. PLAB needs you to clear the exams and then start at the bottom level of training. Getting into PG in India is hard but if you do, there's a chance to start at the specialty training level. Also depends on what specialty you want to do. Advice : don't try and find the better option, just try and understand both options as best you can and you'll know what's better for you :)
