I suspect it's all a narrative, though it would be sad if all of this is true because the way its delivered just feels too much like the beginning of some online fictional story. EDIT: also something like 'Halloween Mixtape' states Mindspring Memories was involved in the making of that one, some other people must have known this group, unless it was remixed afterwards

begotten is just Geometric Lullaby's owner and he wrote a very amateur thriller to hype up his project. The story writing is better this time but there's zero mystery to this artist.

I’ll admit though, you do a great job with these videos. You make them sound so much better sometimes than they actually are. I do want to thank you for introducing me to towers, nullobite, and hallmark 87!

I’ve listened to the original story video you made at least 4 times. Makes for a great tale, real or not.

What does this bizarre music community you speak of consist of?

My theory is that this is all Dennis. It’s too elaborate of a story. For an obscure unknown label as well as a fairly unknown band, doing something like this makes perfect sense to bring attention to your self. **** update on this. I’m pretty positive it’s Dennis. Hear me out.. The Chinese emailed on forgive and forget is the note left by Death from Mayhem , at least lines from it. and Dennis would of recognized this immediately as his band is categorized as “black metal” so I’m sure he knows the Mayhem history. His band also “ gained notoriety for marketing themselves as being from China”. The music is cool and the story behind it is interesting. Good marketing.

Bro labeling every Geometric Lullaby release as "Disturbing" for clickbait while they're simply albums with a dark atmosphere.

This story would be so much more interesting if begotten's music was actually mysterious and unorthodox instead of like, slowed and reverb beattapes. Like all of the music videos are pretty basic stuff. Most of the images are pretty clearly taken from other parts of the internet and one of the albums samples fucking spooky scary skeletons.

After four long years, an internet music mystery is revived

I still have each album from begotten since the moment i watched your first video telling his story and inviting us to hear his music, man, what a ride

I did not know that one of the members of ghost bath, a black metal band I really enjoy, ran a label and was involved in this story. Well, the more you know!

This is weird. I've liked Ghost Bath for years and last month I stumbled across Begotten and other bands on the Geometric Lullaby label on Bandcamp during a Friday and the whole catalog was incredibly affordable so I've been listening to loads of this music for a month or so now never the wiser about the metal band connection or any of this backstory.

@@angellane1848Looked up that shovel quote, from the tiny bit of digging I found a post from 2008 saying that the lead singer of Static X said it's from some South Carolina news show, I'll do a bit more digging into it tomorrow, seems like a decent lead since there'd be an interview out with a music magazine or show of the singer saying it if he actually did. Edit: found a website quoting him talking about it being on the news and happening somewhere in the backwoods of southern california, probably sometime between 1996-1999 based on when the album came out.

I know how this sounds through a KZread comment, but I was there that night at the Ghost Bath/Harakiri for the Sky show in Atlanta at Boggs Social that night and even got to hang out with the bands after the show. While I didn’t want to overstay my welcome and spent most of my time with them talking to one of the opening bands (Unreqvited), I don’t recall any conversation like this taking place, at least while I was out there on the patio with Dennis and the guys

As someone who grew up in the Witch House era and took to it hard, chances are Begotten is a fake promotion lore for the project. That was extremely common back in Witch House where artists weren’t commonly known many people had totally whacked out backstories just to keep their project sounding witchy.
