A Deep Look at That "No Talent" Laker Roster: LeBron's Excuse Train 2024

You might be shocked by the stats I found on this Laker team that took the blame for LeBron's failures.

That's true. Unfortunately, the Lakers don't have the balls to move on from LeBron. They won't just trade him. If the public found out the Lakers were taking trade offers for LeBron before he had a chance to make it known he was okay with being traded. Like "Thanks for giving us permission Lebron!" almost as if the Lakers are scared of getting in trouble. It's like a kid afraid of getting caught lying to their parents or an employee who's nervous for keeping something from their boss. Last I checked the gm/owner/head of operations was the boss. But here we are. The Lakers are at Lebron's mercy, unable(unwilling) to make a move without his permission and letting the media know he's demanding to be traded/released so it all looks like his doing. To remind everyone that he, Lebron James, is in control. And what's sad is that even though I wrote this half joking, it really is true. When you give a spoiled bratty kid everything they cry for and fail to tell them no while standing firm, eventually all control is lost and the kid runs the house. Swap out spoiled bratty "kid" for spoiled bratty "NBA basketball player" and that's why Lebron James tells the once proud Los Angeles Lakers what to do and it really is pathetic.

That’s because LeBron is literally “dead weight” on both ends of the floor. He brings the offense to a screeching halt as he chases stats, and on those rare occasions when he actually drags his old ass down to the defensive end, he looks lost and confused as players go right by him for easy scores. When LeBron sits out, the Lakers get to play team basketball and actual “5 on 5” defense. They don’t have to constantly cover for a washed up narcissistic stat-chasing diva when LeBron is off the court.

  • @jaketerpening3284

    @jaketerpening3284

    Ай бұрын

@@labynoe One of the biggest things is they just bring up the ball way faster without LeBron. He takes the full 8 seconds to get across the half court and then dribbles at the top a bit. They are basically playing with a 14 second shot clock when LeBron is bringing it up, whereas they usually are playing with a good 19 seconds when LeBron is out. I really think they could be great if LeBron played 20-25 minutes of intense basketball a night. He has the capability of being a good defender, but not the stamina, and offensively he's best getting downhill to the basket, which is most frequently available by pushing the pace in transition.

@sugarnads You make excellent points. Yes, Lebron wasn't the first to be proclaimed the next best thing before accomplishing anything. Jordan was a gun his first 6 years. He carried and got ghost fouls, but the entire league has always adapted to the officiating and the stars have always gotten their fair share of ghost fouls. But Rodman didn't arrive til 95 and Pippen was a Bull for 4 years before they won, and anyway, it is a team sport, you need other players, and they were a crappy team when Jordan arrived. I think you'll agree that much of the roots of the Lebron phenomenon began with Jordan, but he didn't create it, push it, or believe his own bs. And he did earn his stripes. I don't think you can equate Jordan with Lebron, it's night and day. And just so we're clear. I'm not a Jordan fanboy. I'm a lifelong Celtics fan who is so old that I once criticized Red Auerbach for drafting Larry Bird. Glad I was wrong.

If you were managing a team, I think there is a critical equation when it comes to building a team around a single all star - you need to look at points, rebounds, blocks, assists and turnovers per minute played multiplied by expected minutes played per game to decide if there’s value in the strategy. I think where LeBron screws up the equation is with so much attention they’re looking at ticket sales and press coverage deals instead of winning basketball.

He's not enough of a threat scoring from range to draw defense and when he drives no one bothers bc you're not allowed to touch the guy. Larry would draw the double or triple and find the open man and when he got fouled he was a lock at the line. One of these things is nothing like the other

Thanks for making this video. Lebron is a great player, but his style of play requires a specific roster set up. When the team doesn't have that... somehow they end up getting thrown under the bus. That been evident on every team he's been on. Unfortunately that includes coaches. Darvin being the latest victim.

I always find the number of points a player gets argument interesting for any game, because the results of the game may or may not be different depending on it. If Player X scored 30 points but the team lost by 10, it wouldn't have made any difference if Player X had scored 20, and Player Y scored 10 or even 15, Player X scored 5 and Player Y scored 20, or Player Y,X, and W each scored 12. Getting more of other people scoring only matters if they score enough to win. At the end of the day if one person scores all of the points and the team wins, that's all that matters. So I find it weird when people argue that other players aren't getting to score or one person is scoring too much. It may or may not make a difference. Somebody else may have a hot hand and getting them the ball would be important, but if you're not playing the total game and keeping your opponents score in check, it doesn't matter how well somebody is shooting.

@@yeelahowah7476 ... I agree.... I suspect it's the reason for all of these arbitrary, insignificant stats nowadays, the IST, and especially the focus on analytics. If you want to see how analytics affected sports in the past, see a pretty decent football film titled, 'North Dallas Forty'. It's just a film, yes, but it was a liberal account of the book of the same title written by Peter Gent, former Bangor, Michigan and Michigan State star flanker who played briefly with the Dallas Cowboys. If you do see it, pay attention to the lockrroom diatribe near the end of the film by one of the lineman characters played by John Matuzak...it hits the nail on the head about analytics.

That is one nice side effect of LeChoke's whining. That the in-season tournament is a joke. He doesn't value it. He convinced the Lakers to fire their coach despite having won it. 🤔 I'd bet that since he doesn't care about it anymore there won't be in-season tournment next season. The excuse will be it was an experiment or it wasn't drawing the expected viewership.

The difference between Nuggets and the Lakers is not about the roster it is about playing together and playing defence and they have Jokic of course who makes everybody play better and Murray that makes big buckets! LBJ does not let his teammates play better but worse because he does not play defence and everybody has to play for him. When LBJ is not playing the Lakers play definitely more as a team. My advice to the Lakers, get rid of LBJ! His time is passed.

I watch Kobe go 8-23, and I just watch Spider go 9-23, 11-27, you need the ball or shots to be much more effective..you can't get that with Lebron and when Ham was coaching period..especially if you're not an alpha male

You know I always find it fascinating… over this past offseason when the Lakers “retooled” instead of “rebuilding” by trading for Kyrie, the media AND his fans PRAISED the Lakers and talked about “how much better they were” than last year.. talked about the IMMENSE depth and quality players.. but as soon as they start losing it’s “the support isn’t there” and “his team sucks; we need to trade ALL of them for (superstar(s))” narratives start.. it’s BULLSHIT! I believe one B/R (lechoke puppets) article said this is the “best team” he’s had in 5 or 6 yrs? Yet when the team loses, it’s that supporting cast to blame? How is LeCollapse’s play not on film EVERY day? His standing around on offense? His not getting back on D? His absolute TRASH transition D? His close outs? His “help” D? His abysmal shooting outside of 5’ or when guarded in the post by Jose Alvarado? That’s been his problem since 2003!!! No coach EVER held him accountable.. when the Heat lost in 2011, it was Wade that took accountability saying he needed to let LeFake be the number 1 option… even though Wade was the best player on the team THAT year… every one knows James is an all time great player.. there’s ZERO debate there.. among Bird, Magic, Kareem, Wilt, Oscar, etc… but being lazy and complacent once you won a couple is what has gotten us to this point and why he can NEVER be the GOAT… it’s Jordan then Kobe… Period… Timmy is there too… weird how Nick Wrights stupid ass and Reddick dumb ass say “20+ ppg for 20 yrs makes him greater”, yet Timmy was winning titles his 2nd to last year? With the same damn team he was winning with for the other 16 years?! His fans need to quit assuming we all think LeBron has “sucked” his whole career… no one is saying that.. what we ARE saying is over the last 6-9 yrs, his play has degraded sharply… avg 25 is easy in this NBA… especially if you’re a number 2 option, all time great, and have the keys to the franchise and take 20 shots a game… of course the refs and the nba are doing their part to keep that ppg up too… lol.. it’s trash and why the ratings have dropped precipitously… I’ll bet these playoff ratings go up quite a bit now that Durant, kawhi and PG AND lebum are out of them… no one will have to hear the weak narratives or the bullshit script anymore.. it’s now “just basketball”… I’m convinced that if one team decided to play basketball the way they did in the 90’s (full speed 100% of the game) they would DOMINATE this current NBA… watch the way these current players “hustle”… like AOHF has said before, their cardio now is garbage… they would puke by the end of the 1st if they played at the speed and intensity of the 90’s… lol…

LeBron been doing this for awhile, but just becoming more clear on the lakers is the fact he is a chemistry and locker room destroyer. All stars become shells of themselves and everybody always seems pissed off and selfish. He also as the leader consistently throws teammates under the bus, argues and blames refs for everything, disrespects the coach and won’t listen (then fires them for “losing the locker room”) and makes everything about himself. No one wants to play with that and it sucks all the life and chemistry from a team. In this landscape, energy and chemistry is genuinely 50% of a great team. When you’re happy to play together and work as a unit and run actual sets, role players get looks for them, stars get open looks and everybody is 1 unit. NBA has gotten so focused on stars and talent but it does not matter. LeBron needs to be on the same level as historic locker room destroyers like KD, Harden, old Irving

i think everybody is missing the point. the big problem is Lakers and everybody expecting Levbron to lead a championship team in his late 30s, All the respected super stars of the game were a shell of them selves at 39, He has done his time , move on from him and start rebuilding a team , build a better culture at the Lakers because currently there is no strong front office. if not then go get a coach that has won multiple championships to challenge Lebrons thinking otherwise same result, we can see what happened between Kyrie, Kevin Durant and steve nash. But when Lakers with LeBron lost in 1st round, suddenly it's coach's fault, and not enough contribution from the bench. Partially it is fault of Darvin Ham, because coach did not benched LeBron in time and allowed him to choke, like LeBlame usually does in the 4th.

Interesting that the Suns have the same issue that the Lakers do. Someone is sucking up all the offense and clogging the flow of the game. I believe its Booker. I remember he was out and Allen was the point guard, the offense flowed so well and they easily won that game. Allen had like 20 assists too. Just too much ISO and then when they cannot sustain it in the second half, especially the 4th quarter, they became the worst 4th quarter team. Yet "fans" and media blame the support. Yet the other guys are not allowed to get in the groove and when its time for them to do something, they arent in the flow of the game. Team ball wins...

Most all of this is the media's fault. Either directly or indirectly. Indirectly, they refused to criticize him at any point in his career. The closest is after 2011, or the occasional criticism of below average free throw percentage. Anyone else would have been questioned for the two-week in-season trip to Miami, which magically improved his game in 2015-16. Anyone else would have been called out for the flopping and exaggerating of contact. Plus, there was very few who pushed the "he can't win in the playoffs when it matters" that the media pushed onto Jordan in the late 80's (talk about no talent on a team), or even Hakeem, Kobe (without Shaq, and surrounded by absolutely no talent until Pau), Dr. J, etc.. Directly, the constant sucking up is insane. The continuous praise for him while not questioning the criticism of teammates. I even heard Bill Simmons say on a podcast how "smart" LeBron was for finding ways to rest while on the floor. Yeah Bill, that's normally called defense.

Simmons is a fraud and I just wish people would STOP LEGITIMIZING his opinions when he's VERY uninformed about basketball. He simultaneously talks about Bird being the GOAT while IGNORING the fact he lost FMVP to Maxwell. And in the same breath he'll diminish Kobe's accomplishment because he lost FMVP to prime SHAQ. Smh. The thing is that all this kind of analysis should be done by "real analysts" paid to do that, instead they get paid to de-analyse games to make LeBron look the poor superstar with no help, what a sharp contrast to MJ's era when if they lost some games the fist thing the media would do was to point fingers to MJ not the rest of the team...and Lebron James should be the most scrutinized player in NBA history? History itself doesn't teach us nothing if in a few decades we don't remember what happend and many media personalities where there and they should say it but even the most pro MJ media people say nothing about this!

The entire organization knows there's a problem, knows what the problem is, but won't do anything to address the problem because that's just gonna make King James through another tantrum. So they'll fire a coach or two, trade a few players, change the name of the team to the Los Angeles LeBrons and whatever else they can think of to appease him... and if they're lucky they'll end up with another decent team that still has an anchor named LeBron James chained to it's ankles.
