    One thing I love about this channel, you spend months on a video in order to resolve things all in one video. You go from getting the comics, to getting them back from grading, all in one video. I love the effort you guys put in.

    Always pay to have a key issue cleaned and pressed. It's typically a 10 to 15 dollar service and can really make a huge difference on grade

    Checked out Alpals video where he picked up those books and left some notes. After watching this vid, seems like there was still no mention of newsstand editions. I’m sure there was definitely some in the collection, and that’s a whole case study in itself. Some books in a 9.8 newsstand are double a normal direct edition 9.8 When some books have no “key” significance, yet command value, they tend to be iconic stories and/or covers. Many people follow select cover artists for example your Batgirl and Supergirl Adventures Books. They’re iconic Bruce Timm covers, so ppl want them just for that reason alone. Love this gents. Hopefully you do more with comics and learn about them as well.

    1000% crack and clean and press for a regrade. I'd also recommend finding a comic shop local that does clean and pressing. Much better to build a network, you also can save some money that way. Much much better. Or since i know you guys got a press for game boxes you could have some of your guys learn how to do it yourselves down the line. Very rarely is it a good idea to submit books without a clean and press and you could easily hit the 9s with one from a 7.5 depending on the notes. Main thing to look for is any notes on color breaks, you cant press those away.

    You should crack it open amd send it back in and see what it gets, without the press. Would be funny to see it get a different score without actually doing anything to it. Then if it gets the same score resubmit it with the press. You're potentially out a little time and the $30, but it would be a fun experiment. Especially if a different grader at the same company looks at it and gives it a good grade. Grading is done by a human, and we are flawed. Some people are better at their jobs than a coworker etc. I think it would be well worth the money to see this get returned a 9.6 with absolutely nothing done to it. Or even returned at an 8

    CGC like most grading companies has no consistency with their grading , i have seen books that had no business being 9.8's get that grading and other books i defy you to find a flaw get a 9.2 . Also for people that buy graded books you will get returns from them even with it graded because the book does not look like what one expects from that grade, it has happen with me (for 4 years all i did basically was sell on ebay comic books for a dealer.) Also graded books can be sun/light faded if stored wrong or displayed and that of course wont translate to the grading because it is obviously graded already.

    It's your money, obvs, but I'd support pressing the Batman Adventures #12. You can advise your new sellers to be safe and risk averse, yet still take chances with your own, very robust, cash flow for the sake of educating your viewers. I don't know the economics of it, but it'd probably be worth it just as content even if you lost money on the deal. Tho, it seems like the worst you might do is break even 🤷‍♂

    Chase and Team: Consider also doing creator-specific comic buying and selling. What I mean is: Find a creator whose work sells and what series / characters they have worked on and then buy those. This helps you because it's more broad -- there's no need to know a lot of details of nearly endless characters' first appearances, deaths, guest appearances, etc. It may also enable you to do faster turnarounds on books. So here are some names and titles the sell consistently and quickly: Rob Liefeld - X-Force, Deadpool Steve Ditko - Spider-Man, Mr. A John Byrne - X-Men, Fantastic Four, She-Hulk Jack Kirby - Captain America, Fantastic Four You can look up the years those creators worked on those books and then go from there.

    30:00 CGC pressing service takes a long time and they don't really do a good job. Take a trip to your local comic shop and see if they clean and press or know someone that does. There's a bunch online, but less risk with local. It's also very easy to do. I learned from youtube videos (and some trial and error) and clean/press before every submission.

  • @TimothySmiths

    @TimothySmiths

    9 ай бұрын

    Depends on value of it for me, but if it is decent value then invest in Gemini shippers, they really protect 1-3 comics the best when shipping them, you can fit up to around 7-8 in one pretty well, i personally if it is a more valuable one will order from USPS their legal size envelope.A Gemini box fits into it nicely and that way you can get the priority mail flat rate fee of one and not have to worry about the weight. A lot of people ship comics media mail, but you are taking a risk doing so, because i have had chargebacks by post office for doing so since comics arent allowed to be shipped media mail technically. If you ship graded comcis, best way is using a medium priority box and i think it is #1092 or 1097 i cant recall offhand priority box, i bubble wrap up the graded book really well, put it in the 1092 and then that one slides into the medium flat rate, so you get it double boxed as well and helps protect it even more from damage, only ever had one damaged shipping that way and the post office looked like they dropped that thing from a skyscraper.
