A Day With The Best of The Best: ICON Shop Tour Pt.1 // Revival Daily

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

We count ourselves lucky to be friends with an ever-growing list of builders, creatives, and enthusiasts of the highest caliber. Amongst those friends is the always inspiring Jonathan Ward of ICON. Jonathan is known for a handful of things, namely ICON( bespoke, hand-built utility vehicles) and TLC, (The nations leading Land Cruiser Service center), but we are probably most inspired by his unrelenting quest for performance excellence and dedication to the craft of true customization.
We spent a day with Jonathan and the ICON team, touring the shop, talking about cars, and receiving a genuine lesson in creativity and dedication from the man himself.
Alan and @Jonathan Ward take us on the first leg of our ICON shop tour, starting with the entrance to the shop, a few of Jonathan's personal rides, and the first ICON derelict build, to get things warmed up before we jump into the real thick of it.
Stay tuned for part 2 of our tour, coming soon.

I really want the Volvo. I've been a wagon guy since I was a teenager. But there's no way I can afford one of Jonathan's Derelicts. Fingers are.crossed for a huge lottery win. lol

Ok. What about taking a bit of what Icon does and use it in the MC world? Not the exact same, but a bit of inspiration. Hear me out. Take a capable, cheap cost of entry super bike from the last 10years and backdate it properly. Like a CB1000 and then put handlebars on it, a cool seat and tastefully minimize the bodywork. (I know they make a CB1000r, I’m not done). Then take those parts and sell them as a kit. The problem with most naked bikes is the silly aesthetics. No character, and they mute the power for “rideability” around town. Ever ride an ‘18 S1000rr? I did. 20k miles in 3 years, commuting. It was great, but I hated the riding position over time and I was never giving to a track… so yeah. The point I’m trying to make is when I replaced it I wanted something cool but didn’t want to lose the full-fat version of what I had. Long story long, if I had a kit I could buy that transformed the bike into something better for my commute Ida done it. Old school looks, taller bars, bag mounts for bags that don’t look like a Jansport, taller windscreen. Ida bought a kit in a second and kept that bike. What did I do instead? I spent way more money on a new Streetfighter V4S that still doesn’t check all the boxes, but at least it’s not neutered down. The market is missing it. It could be a real thing. A Revival kit for a super bike. That was way more words than I wanted to write. Great video.

We've certainly discussed this sort of thing in the past. I think one of the biggest challenges is the size of the market willing to shell out the money for a small batch run of a kit. There are shops that do it but I don't know if it's sustainable over the long haul.

Big difference between the volume of the video, and the commercial @ the end. Looking forward to part 2.

One alternative to putting a little blurb at the end asking for your support would be to pump the video full of commercial breaks that you're forced to sit through. 😘

I want one of those Derelict builds. Really cool. I wish you guys would restock your t-shirts on the website. I see a bunch of tee's that I want but you've been out of my size for months.
