Totally agree. It’s so important that he’s documenting NY’s street scene in my opinion

I like Ribsy's pattern "Hi, . . Can I take your picture? I'm shooting on film, so don't worry about this meter"

Ribsy's ability to relate to people from all cultures and of all ages is commendable. What a fantastic Walkie Talkie.

Ribsys energy made me want to go engage people. I also have to say, native New Yorkers are different....love the interactions

i don't comment often but I loved his integrity and honesty in his approach to capturing people on the streets especially his sensitivity to photographing women. mad props

“The internet is the best and the worst thing for artists.” Really interesting point. It must take discipline to not be sucked into doing what will generate approval on social media rather than the work you really want on a personal level. If you genuinely post a series of streets portraits representative of a community, but then the one portrait of the attractive young woman gets 10 times the engagement of everything else, it’s gotta take quite a bit of discipline not to be influenced by that even on a subconscious level when going out to create work in the future.

100%! Especially when money is involved as well. Artists need to eat & pay rent too. When a certain style or subject gets them more attention & money it's hard to resist that...

To me Ribs is one of the most honest and well leveled photographers online right now. He has a great attitude towards life and I've already been trying to get him out here to Tokyo. Good work guys 👏👏

This easygoing way of talking and photographing strangers is a level of charisma we can only dream of achieving.

Love his commentary on having to respect your subject. That's so important because as the photographer you have a responsibility to portray the subject to the world with dignity, love, and respect.

I agree. There was this guy on another episode of Walkie Talkie who would just flash people in their face and then basically run off and it seemed so cheap and disrespectful.

Ribs is the kind of dude who makes you want to get out and shoot asap. He's a talented cat, I wish him all the best on his journey.

This is one of my favorite ones so far. His approach is awesome, his empathy is amazing, he loves the people he's trying to capture and it comes across. I think that respect comes a long way for what he's trying to do. Maybe it's in my head, but the hunger of some of the younger photographers ends up being a little off putting to me, and when i see people my age or older with a little bit more grounded approach it feels good, and inspiring really.

I loved this episode, Ribsy is very thoughtful of his subjects and environment, he's mindful and engaging with respect to those whom he captures and interacts with, a breath of fresh air. I really dig his approach and style.

This has been the best episode that I've seen so far. As someone who is okay at shooting street and doesn't really do the portraiture thing, his approach his great, his photos are fantastic from the shoot and I relate to a lot of what this guy is talking about.

Paulie you have the best channel and you cover the coolest people. Hats off to you bro

I’m usually not into street portraits but I like to mix it in every once in a while. So it’s nice to see a photographer that does it really well

What he mentioned about taking photos in London is very true. From a non US person - I feel like you could not approach people the same way that most photographers do in these interviews anywhere else bar NYC or the states in general. I loved the way he interacted and talked to people

When Ribsy mentioned you're not entitled to every photo, I thought of the Middle East. Culturally if you see someone, you greet them. If they greet you first, you give them an equal or better greeting. It goes back to the Qur'an 4:86: "'And when you are greeted with a salutation, greet with one better than it, or return the same." So if you roll up like those guys that do flash, and run and gun without a hi or bye, it's extremely offensive.

Love the vid. Trees growing out of heads happen even to experienced guys like Ribsy, some of my favourite portraits have that… Hats off for the Spanish skills!

Such a cool guy, love the respect he has for people, all people. Really interesting chat about the morals of taking photos of people on the street and the who can take photos in areas where not everyone will be well received. Just this past week i was craving a Walkie Talkie episode and i was happy to see it today. The energy felt 3000 miles away(light the beam!!) is incredible. On my lunch today, I pulled my camera out of the bag and took a few shots of basically nothing just cause of the inspiration. This series is easily one of my favorite photography based shows on KZread.

One of fav's of the whole series! Dude is a vibe.

The comment about “I like to capture moments of all races because I grew up around all races” or something along those lines, really stuck out to me and I can relate to Loved how he connects with people. Got me hyped to do the same when I got shooting sometimes

To be able to talk to someone in another language not native to yours and them laugh is beautiful
