Sucks to see them rust away like that, but honestly, it's probably not a good move. Doesn't seem like you'd get much if anything back from them

Definitely! The best way is to use the drain plug on the bottom of the tank🙂👍🏻
For me honestly no. Paying 17k for technically 1 car. Bugeye to go into the white GC and the blue one part out. I would tho if the price is lower

What causes the rust at the corners in the boot? Is there any way to prevent it?

For the GC8’s it is the sealant that goes bad. Resealing it and washing the car makes a world of difference
Not for 17. Tell them to lower the price. That's a lot of labor
