I recently applied to become a 911 communications officer and have began going through the process. A great place to start the process is to contact your local detachment and ask to attend a job shadowing session. The sessions I attended were approximately 12 hours long but you could leave at any time that you wanted. They moved me around to all the different sides of the call center. Its a great place to start.

So you need to multitask? Switch between an emergency call and an enquiry and keep both going at the same time?

@@MelliaBoomBot From what I know, staff are given either a 999 or 101 focus for the shift. So they may only take 9's or 1's. But on busy shifts its likely theyll take both.
