A Day In The Life Of A Pro Cyclist with AG2R La Mondiale
Спорт
What happens in a typical day in the life of a Professional Cyclist? How much do they train? What do they do when they train? What do they eat? When do they eat it? Seeing the pros racing throughout the season certainly looks tough but what goes on behind the scenes to get them to that point? Mavic invited Ollie out to Spain to join Team AG2R La Mondiale and spend a day looking into the life of a Pro Cyclist.

Yea. The funny entertaining ones left.
Realistically, a rider like Oli would tear the legs off most of us casual GCN viewers. To watch him getting flogged by the pros really makes it clear just how wide the gulf is between a talented dedicated fit amateur, and a true pro athlete. 160km/4000m and they looked so casual at the rest stop, whereas most of us would be gasping and calling for an ambulance!!! Pro cycling is a brutal sport.

There's different levels to this stuff..the average person who may not cycle has no idea how strong a pro cyclist is. Maybe not win any wrestling matches but put them on a bike and its another level.
@smallnuts2

@@mikicastan I dont think it's just watts. I mean think how much you have to accelerate to close a gap? That's why the majority people get dropped on there first race regardless of there fitness level. They dont train realistically what a race would be like.

This probably extends to any sport. I think it's easy to watch and comment on the performance of a or b pro but I guess the reference point is implicitly relative to the pro distribution. It certainly is a bit arrogant to think an amateur even with a lot of training can match even the lower percentiles in pro performance.
Do you know what. I think GCN is one of the best things to happen to cycling.

Which Oliver are we talking about? Bridgewood or Naesen ? Naesen definitely deserves a win this year, Bridgewood hopefully gonna beat that Mercx record
@william6171

Well he did beat his training-partner Greg Van Avermaet this year in the sprint on the Muur van Geraardsbergen, final stage BinkBank. Also 2x Bretagne classic But yes just like Sep Vanmarcke he deserves many more wins, given the amount of top 10 placings in classic races.

I take my casquette off to you Oli. It was very noble of you to stop when you did. It would be a poor etiquette to leave the pros behind on that climb! 🤣
I know what it's like to be overshadowed by pro cyclists... Me and my buddy were suffering on a steep climb, we were panting hard, then our local cycling group passed us, making it look like they were riding on the flat
Ollie wasnt coming from pro background but able to cling with pro for 3 hours with that route , I’m just impressed.
So impressive! Ollie even staying with them for that long is awesome!

Oli has a great personality.
Well done Ollie. You hung in with the pros a fair amount of time. Your training is paying off.
Ollie, great video. We saw what a great cyclist you were in your project 49 video. This video reminds us all of what it means to be truly elite. When a rider like you gets dropped on what a relatively "easy" ride is for a pro team, it really makes us realize how good these guys are and what it means to be elite. As I say, "there is always someone faster" Thanks again
Thank you for this insight, Ollie! GCN rocks
What a funny guy! Hope he finally wins a classic this season!
Nice video for a long time I didn’t saw so good short film such as this. Congratulations bravo :)
Really great filming. I always enjoy Ollie and his sense of humour. That said Oliver comes across as a really great guy with a great sense of humour. This is the umpteenth time I have returned to watch this Keep this up GCN....
Amazing insight, thanks GCN, Mavic, AG2R and Oliver!
Olly is very funny yet gets the point across 👌
Great insight into pro team training camp, well done Ollie 👍
Keep up the good work GCN! A great insight into the life of a pro cyclist.....
Great video Ollie. Fantastic to get insight into a day in the life of the pros. Enjoyed the parts on the meals.
Outstanding Squire! And awesome work on the bike. Great ride! First hand primary research. Two BIG THUMBS UP for the video. Spot on. Keep em coming, eh.
Great insight Oli and well done for having a go, a real privilege to ride amongst those guys.
Amazing🙌🏻🚴🏻♂️💚 Thanks GCN for this one!!!👏🏻
Finland cycling life is amazing. So much hard work goes into the day.
What a good sport. He epically cranked with the best in the world and cruuuuuushed
He was so nice. I’ll root for him in the Classics!
Great video, Ollie is a legit funny dude! 😂😂
This sound like amazing experience for Oli. So happy for him. Good training for his hour of power.
Great job Ollie. I'm glad you were taking it easy on the boys from AG2R, it wouldn't be good for them heading into the season knowing that a GCN presenter was dogging them on the climbs. Good job by you!
I love Cyclists! I visit Mallorca each Year to see thousands of Cyclists! Its Fascination!
I like the calm waves of the sea at the end of the video. Super soothing.
Fantastic video, thank you Ollie. Keep up the great work🙂
...”Pray for Ollie”...crack me up! Great video.
I think your sense of humor doesn’t get the attention it deserves! You are so funny and authentic, dude!
Oliver your the man doing that training cuz as i remember your not a former pro which makes me respect your efforts much more. Good luck on the track challenge
The best cycling video I have ever seen. Hilarious and fantastic are the only two words that come to my mind
Thks Ollie for a lovely humour-filled vid presentation which I greatly enjoyed. Keep it up!!!! And you survived! :))) 😎👍🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Absolutely loved this!!
Ollie's "swallow" take at 8:43... Brilliant. Stanislavski would be proud.
Ollie doing bicep curls with litrally the smallest dumbbell ever made bless him
Ollie and Oli, start of a new bromance?
Awesome video - greatly produced + informative.
Ollie is just the best at the self deprecating looks and comments. His videos always make me smile. He reminds us - if we actually need to be reminded - that pros are at another level in every aspect and does so with good information and humor. Thanks Ollie
Awesome Video! Im always curious about what these guys do to get to and stay at that level! ... I think I now want Ollie's job more than ever
Once again GCN delivers!
Great video and great insights. Very nice and I really enjoyed this one!
Fabulous video , very informative !
This was great! Ollie did a great job injecting some humor into that!
Love seeing Oli geek out over this
Awesome video guys...you guys should do a video about what it’s like for a team to travel to a grand tour like all their preparation what they need for it etc
Absolutely brilliant Ollie!
I love the humor woven into the commentary!
That view at the end of the video! ❤
ollie the legend love from ph 💚
You guys always have awesome videos. Keep it up
Presenter is pretty funny which is cool and the pro rider Oliver was chilled and had a sense of humour which is very refreshing for pro a cyclists. Good pick Gcn
Great video Ollie as usual.
i think this is the year for Oli Naeson and AG2R for a big classic, or even monument win.

Sometimes these day in the life vids are just going through the motions, but this was really nicely presented and done, now give me some of those Mavic wheels!! :-)
It was so irresponsible, insensitive and even heartless of Ollie to drop the whole team on that climb! In an attempt to keep up with him they screwed up a whole day of training!
Thanks for this video Ollie
Cor, fancy waking up to seeing Ollie at the end of your bed! Blimey, that’s must be really scary! What a guy Ollie is to leave the ride early cos he was going too fast for the team. What a bloke! Surprised they didn’t sign him up there and then, but he would never leave GCN to become a pro rider, eating those breakfasts and getting paid loads of dosh. He knows where he’s better off. He ain’t silly is he?
Great stuff Ollie 💪🏻👏🏻👊🏻👍🏻💙 loves this one! Love your humour 😂😂

These guys do centuries once a week. That’s crazy. I did 60 miles as my longest ride and I was dead afterwards. It’s soo much work. Took me 4 hours
Those Eddy Mercx bikes with the mavics look sensational. I think my favourite pro team bike.

I rode up to the Col du Sabot in late June 2019, on a very hot day (it was 37 degrees at the col!), and this team rode past me like I was standing still :) That must have been one very hot, sweaty training ride for them.
Such an awesome and insightful video. I would love to do something like that, although I would have been dropped way earlier.
Very very cool....keep up the great work
So good great video!
Respect to the man for staying near them for as long as he did
Stupendous!!!
Ollie is without a doubt the best GCN presenter
Pro training is brutal. They often go harder than they would do in actual racing, when strategy and tactics in the actual race matters. Especially those riding for the GC don't often go all out at all in the fear of blowing up the next day.
More videos like this one,,,,,,,,,good job ollie
As I'm typing that at 3:38. I'd 10 second into the serious training after leaving the car park. Assuming Ollie can keep up with the team in the car park.
It's almost 4am and GCN is what keeps me awake xD. Literally needed to be asleep over 2 hours ago
Great video 👍🏼 Oli Naessen seems a nice guy.
