|| EXPAND TO SEE MORE ||
Hi Teacher Friends! In this video, I share with you what a typical day in the life of a second grade teacher is like! Keep in mind that we are now at the end of the school year, so things may be a little different than what a typical day might be like earlier in the school year. :) Enjoy!

I personally think that teachers should get paid 3x more then what they get paid right now, maybe the teachers would be teaching actual legends, like Albert Einstein for instance a teacher taught him what he knew and then he became one of the most well known smartest people on the face of the planet and the teacher that taught him most of it didn't get any credit, think about it for a couple minutes and then you'll get it

Ive homeschooled my kids their entire life and these videos make me think wow if they had teachers like this for every grade in our public school system- I might have thought about sending them to school lol. But then I remember that my public school system- sucks so bad and we LOVE homeschooling lol. My son graduated early at 16 aand is doing college courses and my daughter is almost done- she'll turn 17 .....in july and should be done with her credits and requirements by the end of august or September. My youngest is 14 aand a freshman and I want to make her high school years as long as possible lololol! They grow up to fast!! ❤❤❤

Sometimes I don’t do anything during specials either. I think taking a break is just as important. It makes you more productive when you need to be. Do you require parents to come for the student who runs away? We would require that for a student that can’t independently go to field trips.

i wish you were my teacher (im in 8th grade now) i miss 2nd grade so much. My school even in 2nd grade is much different than yours. I realize looking at this you made school fun! My 2nd grade teacher was amazing but we learned much differently. instead we received lectures and had 30 questions for homework every single night. We were told to be quiet and watch. Tests every week and we didn't have different reading levels, so if you weren't getting a subject you had to push through and students excelling were forced to learn at the same level as others and not reach their full potential. I guess it prepared me for higher level grades but i feel i missed out on so much, im jealous. we also didnt have field trips and we couldnt dress up. we didnt do crafts or celebrate. most of the time our homework was also on subjects we hadnt touched on yet, i re count a time in 5th grade when we started to do things im just now learning in 8th grade.

Mrs. Nichols, you should be wearing a tee shirt with a huge S on the front for, guess what...SUPERWOMAN!! I taught in NYC public schools for three years as a first grade teacher and it was way too overwhelming for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the students, however, I did not enjoy the lack of work-life balance. I decided to specialize in teaching ESL for first through fifth and this pace works better for work-life balance. I am very happy with this decision and have been doing it for the past 4 years. You seem to be made for the level of multi-tasking required for classroom teaching. I hope you eventually move back to teaching once your family has been established (I watched the other vid where you shared that you are taking a hiatus from teaching). You are truly awesome and selfless!!

The great thing about it is that if you are indecisive on the grade level you choose or you want to change the grade level you want to teach, you are able to get your certification in multiple grade levels (k-6).

Friends and family that I know who are not teachers find it hard to comprehend what I do, before, after and late in the evening at home and weekends. I try to have a work, family balance and tend to do a lot at home when my husband is doing other things. But, having my own kids is also very hard for them.

I am a grade 2 teacher in Ontario Canada. I totally understand when you say” I sometimes just need to take a break from talking.. or listening to someone talk”. Lol!!!! Our job is wonderful in soooo many ways, however only another educator understands the amount of mental energy it takes to motivate, listen, nurture, be kind, be stern, be funny, multitask, observe all 20 ( if luck enough to have a small class) students at once. Yes!!!!! It is completely OK for us to take a break to breath.... recharge our batteries. After all, we rarely leave the building to eat lunch... let alone go to the bathroom. 😉 From one teacher (12 years) to another . You rock. Keep motivating students to be smart, driven, good people.

You had such a sweet class. I just had the school year from hell that I'm now recovering from. Constant screaming, crying, students fighting, students insulting teachers, students hitting teachers, parents fighting each other outside of the school. We had little to no support from admin but were still expected to perform amid extreme student misbehavior. I spent one year at that school and in that district. I went there not knowing about the teacher turnover rate as I moved from out of state. Through all the chaos, my students grew academically, but I was so physically and mentally exhausted. Watching this reminds me of teaching before this last school year. I LOVE teaching, but this past year almost spoiled my joy of teaching, but I wouldn't allow that. I'm hopeful that this new year in a new school and district will be much better. There were near 30 of us teachers and para that left. We are all so psychologically traumatized that we are hesitant to get our hopes up for the new year in our new schools. Please pray for teachers everywhere.

My mom will often be home later because of meetings or work that requires resources at school. Yet, even after she gets home she still has to make teaching plans or even work sheets for the next day for an hour after. I’m still in high school and some rude kids will talk bad about teachers and I will stand up to them and say just all the things teacher do to help there students. I truly respect teacher and what they do, no matter to age or subject.

I'm going to college to be a special education teacher right now. It is the most rewarding thing. The children I work with every single day show me and teach me amazing things every single day.

So much respect for elementary school teachers. I’m currently studying to be a High School English & Reading teacher. I remember all the hard work my elementary school teachers did for my classes back in the day. Just know you do leave an impact on your students as I till this day remember all my teachers .
