I don't have a clear idea of what's next, and to be honest, I'm in no rush. I just want to find stillness, so I can hear my creative voice again.
Luckily, because I’ve been diligently saving money, building additional revenue streams, and have been keeping my expenses to a minimum, it’s allowed me to take time off, and not worry too much about money for a while. I know that’s an extreme privilege to have, and I am very grateful for that. 🙏
Where I’ll end up, I’m unsure of, but for now, I’m making space to find out.

I wanted to acknowledge that I have an extreme privilege to quit my job, and I don't mean to be insensitive to anyone struggling right now. I've worked hard for the last 15 years- diligently saving, diversifying income, and keeping expenses to a minimum. This has afforded me the opportunity to pause and take a short break while I figure things out. A privilege I am extremely grateful for. Thanks, everyone for the outpouring of support! 🙏 I appreciate you all. Don't forget to check out the description, I'll be updating it with links and resources based on the questions you've asked me here in the comments. ☕️

Very typical lately. Slow and easy.
Hey Matthew, you're such an inspiration. Last year I did exactly the same thing - quit my job when I realised I wasn't growing anymore. I decided to give myself the time I needed to figure out what I wanted to do. This changed when the pandemic hit. I started working again as many people were losing their jobs and I became fearful that it was not the right time to take a break not knowing where the world was going and if jobs would be available during this unknown amount of time. Those 2 months were the happiest I had been in years, I was able to do similar things (DIY, woodworking, self improvement and doing things I had been putting off due to working all the time) and I thoroughly enjoyed it. If it could be done again, I would allow myself more time before jumping back into work. That time was invaluable.

I'm glad you found time to do that, and I'm looking forward to the same experiences for myself. Hope you find more of it in the future. Cheers.

Melissa... this sentence "doing things I had been putting off due to working all the time" hits deep. I have done the same on my last two jobs; left when I didn't feel fully comfortable or I wanted another challenge. I have always ALWAYS taken time in-between to breath, do things I couldn't do, travel and it is very odd to realize... work often gets in front of other important or valuable things. Whether we enjoy our work or not, it always feels like we work too much to also breath on the side. Those time spent jobless, but fulfilled are a blessing and a privilege depending on your job market (as you mentioned with the pandemic). Wishing you to have this time at some point again and if not, to manage to carve out important OFF/YOU time during work "season".

@@mickaelsflow6774 Hey Mickaël that's a very good point and something I am striving for now. Thank you for the words of affirmation, I will definitely take a leaf out your book and think of this going forward. You're absolutely right, work does get in the way - if we allow it to. The long hours were definitely not worth it in the long run. While we all need to earn our living we also need to stop and smell the roses and realise that sometimes it's okay to take a step back and simply exist and enjoy life.

@@MatthewEncina I am not saying anything bad about The Futur. (I still watch them) I think that for the past year-or-two it was not the best environment for you personally to grow and show what you are capable of. You have this amazing ability to tell a story in a cinematic way with few words. You have this calm yet authoritative presence. I usually watch youtube videos on 1.5x speed because I want to cut through a lot of the bs out there but your videos I enjoy the way they are meant to be and they manage to lower my heart rate and make me relax and wind down a bit. I was surprised that the video was only 5:53 long, I thought it was 30 minutes (in a good way) I am currently dealing with so many things I need to learn and start and progress in a creative way that sometimes I feel so overwhelmed and at the same time frustrated that I am not making any progress... If you ever feel like making content and using people like me as an example or as a test subject, please tell me how I can be useful to you :) Thanks for your videos and for the free SkillShare membership! :)
