A Day In Our Life - Living On Our Narrowboat | Quest Vlog #14
What’s it REALLY like living full time on a narrowboat? It’s certainly not all fun and relaxation! We thought you might like to see how one of our winter days unfolds and what tasks we usually do on a normal day aboard.

Love the slower pace of life and the big smiles that come with it 😊
Top marks for emptying the thunderbox. But Ryan does a great job feeding you to refill it again. xx
Dinner looked wonderful, so did lunch.... lol.
OMG! Shaun’s mouth is literally watering 🤤
My heart just melted. Pixel is almost exactly like the little Fox Terrier we had, Sarah. We got Sarah when she was a puppy and she lived a very long life with us. She was more human than dog. I just discovered your channel and subscribed. I know I will enjoy watching and learning more about narrow boating with you. It's a dream to retire to a narrowboat. Watching all of you living on your boats is a great escape for me...and informative. Keep up the great work and I'm looking forward to more. Hugs to Pixel.

Fox terriers have so much character! Pixel is definitely a member of the family now and gets lots of attention. Pleased to have you along for the journey! 😊
I live in the United States and don't have a narrowboat, but after watching this video I'm going to start renovating the bathroom on my IMAGINARY narrowboat to get rid of that cassette toilet and install a pump out or incinerator toilet. 😀😁🚽

I like how Ryan makes a 'simple' chicken pasta dish with garlic bread for lunch from scratch - the rest of us just have a sandwich!

Oh! A new narrowboat vlog! Lovely! Thank you!
Great video the food looked amazing and Pixel is very cute ❤️❤️❤️🐶🐶
Found you guys through the vlog you did with CC, as Annamarie calls him, (David). So glad I did. Oh to be young again. Take care and enjoy life. God Bless, Paul from Florida. P.S. I see from your follow list we share the same taste. I have just two additional people I follow. One of them is the young man who started vloging from a narrowboat before people even knew living on a narrowboat was a thing. He was the first.

Hello from Sault Ste Marie Ontario. I been following your vlogs for the last week of so. Can't recall who the vloger was that mentioned your site, David of Cruising the cut, the Minimalists or Floating our Boat. but glad someone did. Funny coincidence that Ryan mentioned Eggs Benedict ( my breakfast favourite) because yesterday when my oldest son and I went for lunch I picked Low and Slow a local restaurant that makes all of their food from as much locally sourced produce and meat as possible. I was hoping to have their Eggs Benny and my son was going for their Mac and Cheese. We walked in only to find out they were only offering a Sunday Brunch buffet. About to turn around the hostess suggested we check out the buffet as they had labelled all their dishes. Low and behold they had their Eggs Beny ( their version is on homemade cornbread with pulled pork ) and the Mac and Cheese. We immediately sat down ordered our drinks and then over enjoyed the buffet. Keep up the great vlogs and the balanced work load.

Hi Pat, welcome! Eggs Benedict is probably our favourite breakfast as well, yum! You obviously have good taste 😉
Hi Guys great vlog. I think your the first vloggers to show this side of life in a Marina. Very interesting thanks. Food looked good too. Does Pixel have his own Chef's Table.

Just regular dog food for Pixel! We can’t spoil her TOO much... 😅
Ryan makes fire. Maggie empties the cassette. On our boat I make fire, make dinner and empty the cassette! That’s because my husband would rather be in our house 😭. What does Maggie do for work and when is Ryan going to show me how to make Gyoza and Rhamen? Forget the boat mushy peas. This is cooking 😁x
@NarrowboatChef
5 жыл бұрын
Oh, the blasphemy! 😱 who would rather be in a house than on a boat?!? 🤣🤣🤣 Maggie has her own business doing web design, freelance writing and editing. I’m sure Ryan will be doing gyoza and ramen as a vlog soon (we certainly have it often enough!)
Great video.. Need to hire you intrepid chefs to feed our ravenous home.. It's really good to watch how you experience our chilly little island..must be an Australian thing. Hope you can cope with the wintry times before the cold spring comes along...chuckle. ( Can't quite reconcile 520 subscribers to 1800 views...but good luck on the view and sub counts too. )

We keep the fire roaring, so it’s practically Australian weather inside the boat 🤣 Thanks for the well wishes!
Ryan your rant about how hard you work ( at 7;55 of the video ) makes you sound like you will make a great wife one day.....🤣. love you videos and keep laughing Ryan. Maggie don't worry about the poop patrol it's the easier of the worst jobs.😁 the krazy kunck

What a great insight into a normal day in the life of, I am looking to eventually liveaboard. Can I ask what job you have managed to secure that you can work from and live on the boat?
@NarrowboatChef

Glad you found it useful. Maggie has a web design business which is all online work, so as long as we have internet we can get our work done.
Just how processed is the bag coal? I figured it was some cool Olde Timey legit Naughty Christmas Coal lumps, but those look like big charcoal briquettes
@NarrowboatChef
5 жыл бұрын
We were good last year so Santa didn’t make a delivery... 😕 They are processed for better burn time, heat output and to be smokeless.
Life in a narrow boat contributes to whet appetite. Fat like!
Hi Maggie and Ryan, I am interested in what your employment is? Is it something that you can do away from the Marina as well? Thank you Dale
@NarrowboatChef
5 жыл бұрын
Hi Dale, Maggie has her own business doing web design and management so as long as we have internet connection, she can work from anywhere and so far we haven’t found too many places along the canal that have no internet signal. Ryan is Head Chef on the boat, catering to Maggie’s whims! He does most of the cooking and planning for our cooking vlogs and most of the housework as well! Safe to say Maggie is definitely the bread-winner 😉
Maggie the keys on my laptop use to light up like yours does and all of a sudden the keys stopped lighting up, is there something ive accidentally turned off to prevent the keys lighting up? if I have what would like look under or for to turn them back on or to check if I turned them off? plz do you have any ideas

Hm, ours has a specific button on the keyboard to press to access the light options. Not sure if it would be the same on yours.
So does the stove heat the radiators?

Unfortunately not, they’re heated using a diesel system.

Well we haven’t tried doing the other way around, but my first visa application to the UK was declined, so it wasn’t exactly easy.
No way. Gotta be a better way to un-crap the boat.
