A Day in Our Kitchen - Yogurt, Cheese, Ice Cream, and More!!

A day in our kitchen making all things dairy! We started making many of our dairy recipes long before having a family milk cow and love the way it lets us be in control of the ingredients and processes. Plus, it's just really fun to create this way in the kitchen! We hope you are inspired to start making some of your own dairy recipes at home! Thanks to Soligt for sponsoring this video.

i learn something new from each and every one of your videos. thanks for this one. Re. the availability of raw milk, there have been a rash of farm seizures and closings by gov’t agencies all over the country in the last 6 mos or so. Has this affected farms near you? The farm from which I have purchased raw milk was recently shut down by local govt. It’s having an impact for many families who have long enjoyed the farmer’s harvests. I know you have your own cow and can get milk from her, I’m terribly concerned about what our govt is doing to farmers, though, and hope you and yours wont be impacted, at least for now. This will all surely have impact on food supplies and prices in the near term. Im trying to learn as much as possible from numerous sources so I can begin to produce my own harvests. Your videos are a big help.

Hi! Great question! With the milk in wide mouth jars, I scoop the cream with a quarter cup measuring cup. There is usually a tiny bit of milk at the bottom of the jar of cream but it works pretty well :).

I had to laugh because we have the exact same ice cream maker!! (We bought ours second hand.) I like making strawberry/lime slushy drinks (I guess it is a non-alcoholic form of the drink.😉) I deal with inflammation, and tried giving up dairy. After a while, I missed it so much, I slowly added it back to my diet, and I could not tell ANY difference. In fact, my cholesterol levels went DOWN. LOL! I eat cottage cheese almost every day!

I always love watching your family! Your children are so helpful and an enthusiastic about everything they do. It's so fun to watch them in the kitchen! And mozzarella and yogurt in the same day! Heaven!! I had that same ice cream maker as well - was lucky to find it marked waaay down at Target because the box was broken and it was missing the instructions. No problem - the manual was on the internet! Long story, but my daughter threw it away, thinking I didn't want it any more. 🤷🏼‍♀️ To be fair, I hadn't used it in years since I went keto. Still...

Raw milk is illegal in Canada and store bought milk is full of additives, so besides in my tea, milk is not something we consume. I would love to buy a cow and maybe one day it will happen. Maybe goat milk would be an option for my family but I despise it :( But if I get a goat I'll force myself till I like it haha! Have you made cheese or yogurt with goat?

There are a few micro dairies that do lowest pasteurization and no homogenization in ontario but it is expensive. We ended up getting a milk cow. But I practiced recipes on regular milk before milk came in from our cow so i knew how to use it.
