The way I save money on groceries is to buy items that I normally use when they are on sale. And buy several. So if sugar is on sale, I'll buy several bags even if I don't need it right now. The next trip may be coffee on sale so I buy several cans. Over time, almost everything in my pantry was bought at sale prices.

That’s how I do it as well. Since it’s just me, as a solo Mom with my toddler twins. I don’t feel like I need 25 lbs of flour lol. Plus my budgeting is different. I don’t have big big annual bulk budgets. Just a monthly grocery budget. But this is interesting to see how others bulk buy for sure ❤

That’s how I do it! We live in the city, so we don’t homestead but I do make 99% of our meals from scratch and we’re a family of 5. We have Costco at 45 min and we use them a lot but I will have to try azure. My relatives all own restaurants, so what I do is order in bulk from their providers also. I just call one of my uncles up and ask them to order stuff for me when I need it. It’ll take 2 days for my order to get there. I usually 50lb bags of beans, flour, hibiscus, chile peppers etc So Costco is my go to for many things, but for bulk wise, I use my uncles’ food companies.

I think one point you don’t mention outright but is implied through out this video is you know how to cook and bake. My children are now adults and their spouses don’t know how to cook. I’ve taught 2 of my children how to make bread (because they just watched growing up) but I’ve realized so many people just buy heat and serve items. Cooking from scratch, as you point out, is healthier and less expensive (though it does take more time). It would be great if more people knew how!

I am blessed to have Azure Standard out my back door. We go to their market in Dufur Oregon weekly and buy various things, it's the only health food store around for miles. We love their dried fruit, pineapple, pears, we love their Organic pecans too. All of it is a treat for us. One thing we have discovered is that you can pop Sorghum like popcorn and they sell it already popped or you can buy the grains and pop them yourself. I am a popcorn lover so anything like it is a yummy snack for me. I buy their wheat berries and their flour too and have been experimenting with sourdough bread and yeast bread recipes. They have a KZread video on wheat and how it's grown and the different types. This week they will have ordered "Dehydrated milk kefir grains" I am excited to try them with our raw milk we purchase locally. I have been making raw buttermilk from a starter that I bought online, but I bet Azure would have that too. Love your videos, thank you for the inspiration to make things from scratch, with nutritious ingredients ♥️

Although it may not always be the cheapest, it offers us a convenience of one pick up instead of driving to multiple stores to get the quality ingredients I’m looking for. I love to buy the large tortillas, grass fed butter, wheat berries (including recently getting rye berries for starting a sourdough starter after seeing one of your videos) bulk spices, frozen veggies and fruit when my crop hasn’t fulfilled our needs. I’m working today on my order for a pick up next week! I love to see Azure videos, it’s a great way to hear of other products I may not have known they carried and to hear how others use them.

I heard about Azure Standard years before I tried it. Afterwards, I couldn't believe I waited. We are rural, and it's an hour and a half to Costco for us. The local grocery stores don't have a good selection of organic, glutin free, or bulk food. I love that Azure delivers close to us. I try to have a well stocked pantry also, and I mainly need to go to the store for dairy and foods I don't grow. I love seeing your family living a great life and being so food conscious.

I've bought from Azure for years. I buy my peanut butter exclusively from Azure. They sell CB's 2 organic peanut butter in the case of big jugs and it doesn't have to be stirred. I hate having to mix peanut butter every time I want to eat it. No extra oil is used. It's a clean just peanuts in CB's 1 or peanuts and salt in the CB's 2 peanut butter. All canning jars are much cheaper. You'll understand when you see your final price yet another big reason to buy at Azure. I love many of the refrigerated items yogurt, butter, cheeses etc but Costco won me back when they started selling grassfed organic butter from NZ so darn cheap. Raw cheese in five pound blocks and the 2 packs of 5 lb block cheeses are really economical if you freeze or freeze dry cheese. Chopped dates are fabulous. Azure's multicolored popcorn is the only popcorn I buy. Organic beans are the other items I buy. If you use gamma lids for your 5 gallon buckets Azure has the best price.

We love Azure! Let me start by saying the closest Sams is 2 hours away, and Costco is 3. Even Wal-Mart is 1.5 hours and 120+ miles round trip. The Azure pickup is 45 minutes! I’m just getting into growing our veggies. So, I buy a lot of frozen broccolis from Azure which is the absolute best quality it comes all in florets and the perfect little bitesize pieces. The bulk fruit like apples and oranges is great. This year I bought the Azure plant starters which were cheaper than what I could find “locally”, their cheese and other milk products are amazing. Also, the customer service is suburb! Its only happened once, but I had an issue I called they credited my account and no harassment, no questioning, just “oh no I’m sorry let me take care of that for you.” I really can't say enough good things about Azure.

We buy the wild caught salmon in the freezer section at Costco. We wait till it goes on sale and buy several packs. I buy at azure hard red wheat berries, hard white wheat berries and soft white wheat berries, organic oatmeal, organic black beans and then always look at the sale items. I, like you, grow my own produce and support local farms and our local food co-op for what I can't grow.

Great tip on the salmon - I'll have to look for that. We get the canned sardines from Costco sometimes or the wild caught shrimp (but that's a big splurge)!

Oh yes, love Azure and Costco!! Not only prices but I can see they are both great companies. Azure specific- I buy oats, dried beans, lentils, gallon vinegars. Quite good deals at Costco for other organic bulk items so I usually price them out first. Or bulk section at health food stores. This was a great video, thanks for sharing.

It's really great to see what you do buy and helpful for those of us still in between being able to grow/do more of our own and still relying on the stores. Of course we always try our best to source local but it's also nice to see what can be done when or if that isn't an option. I didn't realize Azure and Costco had so many options for folks that eat like us (real whole ingredients)

We love shopping at Costco, even though we are empty nesters. We also buy the organic frozen broccoli, and we found a recipe on roasting it in the oven (yum!) We also just found frozen, organic green beans. I was surprised at how similar our list is to yours. We stay away from processed foods, although if my husband goes to Costco alone, we might end up with some dumplings or frozen ravioli! What would be helpful for us is how to store the bulk items from Azure. Especially as we would be storing it longer since there are just the two of us. We used the envelope system for many years. I actually liked spending CASH!! Thank you for sharing all this great information with us!!

Thank you for sharing 😊 Was great to follow along and see how you do it 😊👍🏻 Buying ingredients and not the more convenient stuff really helps 😊🤑 I am single, and don’t buy that much in bulk, but I do buy oats, protein powder, chia seeds, dried fruit, especially dates and dried mango. I also buy frozen berries and veggies when I get a coupon at a store, and stock up for some time. I usually get a coupon about 3-4 weeks for 20-25% off, and I don’t have the biggest freezer so I buy for having for a good month at the time. I also buy coconut yogurt by the case (my local store order it for me, so I need to buy a case at the time), and soy milk when it’s on sale. I have a milk allergy and the coconut yogurt is a treat, and not cheap, but I just have a smaller amount and make a dessert with it, with chia seeds jello, just a little protein powder for taste and texture, and frozen berries, especially frozen cherries, and it’s really good 😋 I go to the store on more regular basis, and don’t grow that much food. I do get to pick my neighbors berries in the summer, and buy other fresh berries in bulk in the summer for freezing over the winter months. It’s a blessing everything you can grow yourself or buy local at a good price. My neighbor don’t eat there berries, and I can empty the bushes 😅😊❤ Love and blessings from Johanne, Norway 🇳🇴

So what I do is ask them to order what I need in bulk from their food providers, and it arrives at their restaurant within 2 days. That saves me money big time! And sometimes they dont charge me or they give me a discount bc Im family 😁

How many chest freezers do you have and what cubic feet per each? We purchased a Danby, and I love it (but I didn’t realize that some chest freezers aren’t approved for outdoor/garage use. Ours isn’t 🙃 but it’s too late and I’m not mad about having one chest freezer in the house. But moving forward I would love one in the garage. We are new to North Texas, so I’m not sure how hardy the freezer has to be to keep temp when it’s grueling hot out. The garage gets toasty!

Thanks for sharing your go-to's! It's so helpful and I love hearing everyone's favorites. We have several freezers but we will often have a whole cow processed along with 50-60 meat chickens and everything else that we freeze so it's more than most people need. We've gotten all of ours off of fb marketplace for free or super cheap. We do keep them in our garage but Illinois is much more mild than TX, although I have had issues with produce freezing in our fridge/freezer in the garage in winter. I love our large stand up freezer so much more than our chest freezers for easy access and if we had to pare down, I'd keep that one! Hope this helps!

Azure Standard.. I buy their organic carrots so good and $1.39 per pound in 5 pound bags. I only bought 10 lbs this last time to try them they are so good will be buying 20 pounds this coming month, I shared with a friend/neighbor last month between her and her kids they went through 5 pounds within 2 days Wow! I can't eat carrots without my dogs begging for some too so Yeah at least 20 pounds. I shop Sam's Club in store once a month, have just started using their Online home delivery ( Free Shipping with Plus Membership) their Folgers Coffee 40.3 oz is cheaper than any of our local stores plus our local stores don't sell that bigger size container. I buy 6 heads of Romaine lettuce $4 something, a big box of tomatoes $5 something. I share my membership with my daughter and we're saving a lot her membership is free with the purchase of mine. Have you tried the Fisher Nut Outlet Store (I-90 and Randall Road) for bulk nut purchases? A lot of the nuts sold in the U.S. appear to be processed and packaged at the attached factory. I’ve seen pallets of nuts with various labels on them. All the same product, but some are CVS brand, some are Jewel-Osco, etc. I’ve gotten 5-pound bags of pecan halves there for under $18, but it is kind of hit or miss as to what they have as they package different things each day.

I think it’s around $100 per month, it’s not a ton. We don’t use it many months but then a few months we’ll make a bigger purchase, like the grains we got here. When we are planning out our budget at the beginning of the year we try to think through what we think we’ll need that year in bulk (ie meat, grains, etc) and then make it accordingly. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching! 😊

You really do need to price check the things you buy. Azure is not the cheapest option out there. We get our bulk grains from them as well as items like sugar, salt, frozen fruits and veggies, and other baking goods. I have also purchased canned olives, mushrooms, tortilla chips, and cheeses. We have goats for milk, but don't have enough for making our own cheeses. We don't have a Costco membership, but a friend will get things for me sometimes. Most of our dairy comes from Walmart even though I detest that store. Our meat, poultry, we produce ourselves. Beef is local pasture raised. Lamb is home grown. I am still working toward growing most of our fresh veggies/fruit. We have a long way to go for that. I also will take advantage of fresh produce from Azure in order to can, such as cherries, apples, pears, etc.. I like seeing what others get from others. Sometimes there is something I didn't see or I didn't think to get.
