I just passed my CPC exam like two weeks ago.. I’m happy because it was hard for me. Know I need to find the way to remove the A . I feel a little anxious and lost.. thanks for all the information given and for sharing your personal experience. I really appreciate it. Glad to see you back!! Congratulations on getting hired full time with Optum. I am trying to get on with them as well, no luck as of yet. I received my certification in Dec 2022 and haven't been able to find a job in the field.

You should try to see if you can apply doing something similar and then you can move with in a year to a coding position.

Usually medical coding programs include a medical terminology section

Can you pls give us your thoughts about the topic regarding AI replacing medical coders soon? Do you think it will make medical coders lose their jobs? I am interested in studying but still contemplating because of this. Thanks!

If it does, AI has a LONG way to go! We are already coding AI generated charts and it misses a lot. AI typically take things out of context and that’s a problem. It doesn’t know how to link combo codes properly. It has a way to go. Even computer generated codes are wrong sometimes. In my opinion, AI will never FULLY replace coders. Btw, I work for Optum too!
