Hi!! This vlog was really cool, I'm considering going to a japanese high school as an exchange student once I finish sixth from (English schools 11th-12th grade equivalent) as a 3rd year. I wanted to ask if you're going to some kind of vocational school? Because your school seems a bit different from other JP high schools from my research in terms of general vibes and lesson structure.

I’m attending a religious international school, yes, so English class is a lot more accelerated. Other aspects of school are quite different compared to the typical Japanese school - rules, customs (being religious) events and curriculum, but in a general sense, it does share many aspects of a general Japanese school. Like, all of my subjects are in Japanese except for English which is run mostly in English. Thats the biggest distinction. Other than that, science, math, sport I would say is very ordinary.

I didn’t get a scholarship - unfortunately there aren’t many scholarship options if you’re travelling as a high schooler. Also, I did have some Japanese pre-knowledge 😁😁

I want to go for exchange in Japan and I've gotten told by every program that schools are rlly strict there (no makeup, hair dye, piercings etc) but so many have colored hair and r wearing makeup there in this vid?

I’m at an international school and it is quite lenient with makeup/hair and most conventional school rules :) Not all schools are the same, and they vary. Certain schools have certain rules, for example, I know a school that is just against hair dye.

I go to a Christian school here in japan and they are super strict 😅 I wanted to film a video but they saw me with my phone and told me I can’t film in school 😭

I thought this was a normal vid cus my mom is also a exchange or transfer student she has to pass the J1-5 test first (she is at college) but HIGH SCHOOL???? did not know u can do that I want to go to japan ( after high school) pass J1-5 test then learn culinary :>
