A Day At Chimacum High School (1988)

Official Len Enders merch: teespring.com/stores/len-enders
8 minutes of unedited footage shot on the campus of Chimacum High School on a random day in October of 1988. This was shot during the week of homecoming, which is why the commons area was so heavily decorated.
Watch this clip and experience (or re-live) a little piece of the 1980s at a small town high school!
Because of the camera’s mic sensitivity there were a bunch of audio dropouts in this video. Turn on Closed Captioning if you can’t make out what people are saying.

High School was much more interesting during the 80s in 90s. People were much more euphoric with the advent of technology which also means people were much more social, it's like High School was flourishing with life. Len You and your crew remind me so much of myself and my crew growing up in New Jersey in the 80’s. (I’m 48 now) We were all long hair metal heads. We were the burnouts and then there was the preppys and then the jocks. You guys all had to have burned??? I wish I had video footage from back then. You were very smart to document as much as you could. You are one of the first video bloggers. Lol

Graduated in 92'. Was a great time to be in high school transitioning from the 80's to 90's. Heavy metal, parties and for the most part everyone got along and was relatively safe. Now my old high school just had a full scale riot where some teachers were hospitalized and students arrested over the school board wanting to ban hoodies from being worn due to students attacking other students and teachers while wearing their hoods in the hallways making them unidentifiable. Among other reasons, I would not want to be a kid in high school today. Always hated that mentality of generations saying the next generation is worse or spoiled or what not than ours was, but dam we had it good. Real good.

That time we played some Slayer covers (Black Magic and Hell Awaits). Then we hit it again in April and we had an original song and a cover of Cannibal Corpse’s “Skull Full Of Maggots” but our bassist changed “maggots” into “bunnies”. Good fucking times man.

Like me I haven’t seen friends that I grew up with in so long! That I don’t even know if their alive! It’s definitely a sad thing to think about it. But sometimes with the power of the social media you’re able to find friends and people you knew growing up. You should make a video reunion with some of them and try to return to some of them places to see how much everything has changed in time. Great video Len!🤟😎👍

Isn't it strange how fast time flies? I mean I was born in your teenage years (January 17, 1987.. I always wished I grew up in the 80s, but since my mom was only 14 years old when she had me, I got here as quick as I possibly could, I guess haha) and I'm 33 now. I remember growing up it seemed like time just dragged on and on. After I turned 21, its pretty much just been flying by. I imagine it seems to go even quicker the older you get. Great videos, though man. Yall seem like yall would have been some kick ass dudes to hang with.

  • @LenEnders

It does get faster and faster!! I've read that it's because our brains processing power gets slower as we age so it's "skipping frames" in a way which makes it feel like time is speeding up. Sort-of like VHS compared to 5K digital. Our minds slowly go from 5K to VHS quality! 😭😭 PS I recently did a reunion video with some of those kids from my youth if you haven't seen it yet: kzread.info/dash/bejne/a5d7zMeJprnPfrw.html

Back in the day, we would not get caught dead carrying a backpack around all day. We had lockers and we switched out our books in between classes. I feel bad for the kids today that have to lug around heavy backpacks and schools don't use the lockers anymore. My kids don't even want to wear heavy coats in the winter months to school because they don't want to have to carry them around all day. Just another item to shove in their backpacks. The 80's were fabulous times to be a teen!
