A Date With Destiny - The Coronation of the Oba of Lagos.

This is a short documentary about the coronation of Oba Adeyinka Oyekan, ll, in 1965. It was shot by my grandfather, Chief Olu Holloway. Over the next few months, I will upload films he shot, chronicling parts of modern life (now history!), in Lagos, between 1965 and 1971.
I hope you enjoy this video. Please leave comments and feedback below.

When an Oba is not imposed, the land prosper and there will be peace. We can compare this to the current Oba of Lagos. It's said in the video that the Oba during the coronation is dressed as a commoner like his people so that he will know he is one and a part of them. But we see what can happen when an Oba build a wall around himself like the current one who coincidentally was chased off his palace during last skirmish that happened after the EndSARS protest was forcefully put down by the government.

In the days when obas were classy, cultured and felt the pulse of those whom they ruled over.

Indeed you made someone like me felt very happy, may you also be feeling happy in your life...but a question... Seen sheu shagari confused my medulla memories and perception... So sheu shagari had been a prominent and well familiarity with Yoruba tribe very long time before becoming the president? Or was he his father? Please clear me on this... I have subscribed to your profile

That was Shehu Shagari, who later became the president of Nigeria. He had been in government in various positions previously.
