I've read that Barbara's story is more inclined to depict a home invasion - therefore the monsters
This is one of my favorite games, and I’m so glad you’re taking the time to meticulously play through and enjoy its rich narrative! There are so many more things to see, so please don’t rush, and make sure you find the story for each person on the tree (I completely missed some in my first playthrough!). I loved getting to hear you process your thoughts and emotions! So good!
93 is really old I guess. Wouldn't call it abnormally long though. Molly ate whacky 40's toothpaste with fluoride and heavens known what else in it, and holly berries, which cause hallucinations and poisoning especially in small children. And Walter didn't eat just peaches, he had loads of different foods around the place, just he had that every day at that time.
Very glad you are finally getting around to playing this one.. It is honestly a work of art.. Enjoy it! :)
I can't believe this is your first time playing this game..... one of my favorite story games along with Unravel/2. PS- in1947, there was like a 90% chance that that holly in Molly's bathroom was real meaning poisonous, plus floride, plus god knows what ever else in 40s toothpaste......she halucinated, til she died.

That is how understood her death, too. What a very....unfortunate...family.
Wooohooo!! All the different ways people reacting to Molly's story never gets old... XD I think everyone in the family could freely walk into the rooms before. Then they were sealed shut by Edith's mother to prevent her children from being exposed to the stories, but Edie drilled the peepholes to allow the rooms to still be viewable.
One of my favorite examples of the possibilities of storytelling through games. There’s still so much untapped potential but every so often you get a gem like this
I know I'm late to the party on this playthrough but this is maybe my favourite game, and how keenly you felt Calvin's story really hit me hard. Thanks for sharing.
Definitely deserving of the "best narrative" award! Thanks for sharing your experience with the story, Bri!
If I can offer some advice while you are playing this though... Close your mind.. You are thinking too analytical.. which is understandable as a gamer.. But What Remains Of Edith Finch is a game heavily layered in fiction through the mind of an eccentric storyteller..
"Floppy Shark in a Forrest", should be the name of your new book.
I really appreciate seeing someone play this who can put it together and understand the family.
I am loving the Graphical Design, Story, and Narration so far! It’s clever that we’re going through the Family’s memories too, excited to see Part 2! 🤗
A lot of people have asked, "Are games art?" That's tough. Not only is the question entirely subjective, but some would argue that all games are art. But some games are so crude that the lack of taste in said games make it hard to consider them as art. But Edith Finch, to me, IS art. There's a transcendence to it that many games lack. And it can move and affect people in different ways no matter their age or where they are in their walk in life. It's a portrayal of family. Of connections. Of loss. Of hope even in the face of the dark. It's about leaving a legacy. Wanting to be better than the past. It's a powerful game when you unpack and analyze it. And Edith Finch is one of the games I would point to if someone asks, "Can video games be considered art?"

I would 100% consider this game as art. Without any doubt or question. And I think this is as close to a perfect game as you can get for what it tries to accomplish. A masterclass in game development.

Briana: "I've heard it is incredibly emotional..." Me: "....oh....oh no...."
One if the best games ever made and, as usual, you're the perfect person to play it since it's so emotional. Looking forward to your analysis after finishing it, too!
I just re-discovered your channel. loved your lastofus, lifeisstrange1 and captainspirit reactions back then. And now Edith Finch - I'm ready and all excited for some high quality entertainment.

Wow, that was unexpected! Love your playthrough and reactions, Briana. And yeah, Calvins story hits hard, every time. What a beautiful (and incredibly sad) work of art.
One of my favourite games. I love all the details and storys each character has. I nearly teared up with you when the Calvin-story was told. Can't wait for part 2
This is such a beautiful game, and your commentary so far has been amazing,, simply beautiful can’t wait until you play through the remaining stories! Some of them are very sad as well and it’s so interesting how well you interpret them❤
Oh my gosh this is so exciting I can't believe you're playing this!!!!!!!

I feel bad, but I laughed so much at your reaction to Barb's story. I also appreciated your Life is Strange bean reference! Thanks for the vid and Happy New Year Bri!
Absolutely amazing work of art this game is. Cool to see you playing it, it's one of my favorites in recent history!
I remember my first playthrough of this game and it was such an emotional rollercoaster. I loved it so much I made my cousin play it and she loved it too.
I absolutely love Molly's section, it's just wonderful. An amazing starting section to the game. Calvin's section always makes me a wince and feel a bit ill. I'm afraid of heights. But being the cat jumping between branches and the owl hunting rabbits felt freeing and exciting. And being on the swing, knowing what's coming, makes me feel quite afraid and a little bit sick. I forgot that he does make it all the way around a couple of times which feels kinda triumphant, but then he flies for real.
Yay I was waiting for this thank you Bri 🥰
The game is so surreal..
This was a fun change of pace game. I am always interested when I see you playing these games. I will have to find some of these styles to try out. Happy New Year! I hope you have amazing plans.
i love the game but it made me cry first time and I am still sad I played it years ago glad you're playing it..
Congratulations,Bri. Happy new years for you and Family, you are beauty and incredible. God bless you and Family, your subscriber.
Happy gaming from Greece Brianna great game 👍🎮
OMG I was laughing my ASS off, when she was in Molly's room and she started eating all the things ahahahah... My belly hurts
Walter was the "Mole man under the house" and some say the "monster behind the door" is also referring to Edie which is why he escaped via tunnel instead of door. For Barbara 1) Either it was Rick 2) Or Beasticon fans were stalker and peados 3) Walter spooked her and she fell over the railing and died and we can see a repaired railing. Which is why the comic shows a monster hiding behind the fridge and the killer tripping over railing.
I've never heard of this game. What a FASCINATING game and playthrough! My stomach was in knots for most of it. This game gives me a heavy sense of dread, intrigue and impending doom....and that intuition was spot on! Curious to see what happens in part 2. I would have loved to play this. Is it on consoles or only pc and/or steam?

Seems like Walter was trying to outlive the family curse. It’s why he was living in a bunker by himself, I think.

I really hope you can finish this one. It’s a strange emotional ride. I love swings. 😢
Glad you finally play this game.
44:43 Sounded like the window made a meowing noise when it was opened. Maybe Molly heard it and that led her to imagine herself being a cat?
It's short but amazing loved it BRIEEEEE😁
LOL your reactions to everything had me dead 🤣🤣
“Cats still don’t eat toothpaste.” LOL. You made me laugh out loud on that one. When I played the game I lost it at “and suddenly I was a shark!”
lol her reaction towards Rick was funny, but damn those are sad tales
This is...a very strange game. Almost swear it sounds like basis in reality. Really looking forward to the rest!
I am writing this to help out Brianna and this video and this channel with the algorithm ♥️✌️😘😀

God, you are so adorable. haha. Love this game, great video.

We had rabbits as a kid (hamsters, too).
cameras had been around a looooong time in 1937 fyi. Not that far off from the release of the Polaroid camera even...8 or 9 years away. Suffice it to say, theyd been around for a long while.
Ingeborg is a pretty normal name...
"We are Ingeborg. Resistance is futile."
My grandma’s name is Ingeborg - she is German. But she is called Inge, don’t think people use the full name 😊
Hey Bri ♡ will you play Horizon Forbidden West?
If it was a joke my bad 😂but they had power in 1947 maybe not as widespread but they had light bulbs cuz that was created in the 1800s so they had to have power for those light bulbs
cats definitely eat toothpaste
Next game you should play is High on Life
Also Edie is the one who decorated the shrine, not barbara
We’re you the model for aerith? Or did you just do the voice?
@shounenbat510

Given that FF7 is a Japanese game and also that Aerith is a pre-established character, Bri likely just did the voice. If they used a model at all, it would probably have been some Japanese woman.
Puget Sound . . . my Home. Take the Yakima Ferry to Orcas Island.
Hey there, will you finish the game? I don't want to watch another "lets play" that you just stop in the middle without any explanation like TLOU2… Thanks in advance for your response :)
Gotta get them carbs in.
Yeaaaah so the whole thing with Barbara, along with many things in this story is that everything isn't always face value. It's supposed to be in reference to parasocial relationships, paparazzi, but you just say it's him based on some voice lines. That's weird behavior! It could be him, to be fair. Ambiguity is kind of the point. Just kind of odd to me you point every finger immediately.
But Barbara isn't an actor. She's a failed actor. She longs to return to her glory days. Case in point, I have a drum set in my bedroom. I don't play anymore, but I miss that part of me. Some people, especially those that had momentary success, long for their past, and cling to it. Barbara modeled herself after acting, but did not succeed in making it her world, so she uses imagery to fulfill that part of herself. Had she become a mainstream actor, she likely would not have dressed her room that way.
