A Cozy Night in my Cliff Shelter, Caught in a Thunderstorm, Mushroom Hunting, Bushcraft Skills

Hi everyone!
In this video, I continue to work on improving my shelter to make it more comfortable for me. You will also see how I made a wooden floor from flat planks that I brought with me from civilization. I will also show you how you can make a wooden table and a wooden bench yourself, as well as a very practical wooden candlestick that can be used as a chandelier. I decorated the wooden corner shelf I made with autumn fruits and candles to make it more pleasing to the eye. To eat, I prepared a very tasty soup from porcini mushrooms that I picked near my shelter on the cliff. During the recording of this video, I was caught in a thunderstorm, which contributed to a very pleasant atmosphere. The night was quite noisy with the song of owls and foxes. Me and my dog Lajka had a great time.
Thanks for watching, I hope you like it.
Mushroom soup (recipe)
Boil porcini mushrooms (freshly sliced) briefly in seasoned water. Stir some flour in cold water and add to the mushrooms. Mix everything together and cook for 2-3 minutes and it's done. If they are cooked for too long, the porcini mushrooms become soft and lose their flavor. I put the spices without measuring, I often cook so I roughly know the measure 😉

hahaha- only once indeed! the ones you gathered reminded me a bit of King Stropharia/wine cap/stropharia rugosoannulata- except i noticed that the last huge one that came in solo w/ the timber- didn't have gills- it was just spongy and porous- and the winecaps have gills.i have grown oyster and lion's mane shrooms from kits in the past, they were delicious and it was great fun;) i was just wondering if you could share with us what type of shrooms they were that you cooked up?

My father built the house I grew up in. He did it all by himself, and had learned all the trades by helping guys out, and remembering how they did things. I could almost SMELL the wood shavings when you were trimming the edge of your table! When I go into a lumber dept of a store, it always reminds me of my dad. I'm no expert, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say go see if there are guides for what grows in your local area, I don't think it's one of those things where there are a few tells on whether or not it's safe, but rather, a regional info thing where you have to be aware of which ones you can or can't eat. Safe bet though, if you don't know if it's edible or not, don't eat it. Last thing you wanna do is be out in the wild eating random stuff and you have some health condition imposed on you that may have been trivial in an urban setting but now it's crippling and you don't end up coming back. Hope this helps.

Enjoyed every second. I have always believed that far from being 'primitive' man living in caves, they were actually darn smart to make use of an awesome natural shelter, and, knowing mankind, they were well organised, warm, clean and cosy. Same with clothing. Far from the half naked man in animal loin cloths, they were equally well thought out, well designed and decorated and effective for the climate. With the downfall of society we are witnessing, well may we end up seeking a good cave for ourselves. Native American artifacts in caves show woven mat floors still today. Very inspiring video!

My grandfather was a park ranger in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. He was also a carpenter for some time with them. He taught me how to build things. My mom was also one and she could name every plant, tree, flower, mushrooms snakes etc. I enjoy going camping in the back country. It's so peaceful. Our town (Pigeon Forge Tn) gets so crowded from so many tourists. I'll go for a week at a time. I love what you've built for you and your doggy. Stay safe and happy trails! 🤗

I'm a woman and ont have those skills but have built like 20 + forts in my life. I homeschool and my daughter forages and eats mushrooms. You can live any way you want you just have to do it. I'm in the middle of building one in front of my home for feast of tabernacles. Foraging is something everyone should learn. Those I believe we're boltoet mushrooms he picked. . probably spelling it wrong.

This storm was strong! I don't know if it's because of the height, but the thunder didn't seem to stop! Amazing sounds. Sometimes I regret not being able to record everything. If you built a cliff shelter where I live, you'd come in to see 100 rattle snakes talking to a 1000 copperheads. They'd just smile and thank you for keeping it warm for em.

That is an awesome looking shelter the wooden floor really makes it look comfy and that candle holder chandelier is the cherry on top, there is still so much you could do with that place build a permanent chimney where you cook your food maybe a crevasse in the rock big enough to store water and food the ideas are endless, I’m looking forward to the next episode thanks for a great video 😀😊👍🏻🙏🏻

This is very literally the life I always dreamt for myself as a child…I read “My side of the mountain” and immediately decided I wanted to live a solitary existence just by hunting and foraging. I decided I needed to learn things like plant identification and how to make a compass and how to use flint to make a fire, etc, so I asked my parents what kinds of clubs did that, and my dad said “The only one I know of is the Boy Scouts”, so I signed up for Girl Scouts, expecting to learn survivalist tips…instead, we sold cookies and did crafts made from pipe cleaners. I am still mad about it to this god damn day and I will literally die mad about it. And no, I have never purchased 1 god forsaken box of cookies. Edit: now that I think about it, I wouldn’t want to live in a hollowed out tree (Like the little boy in the book), I’d want something a little more…fortified. I want a cave castle. That’s right, Slovenia, I’m coming for you. Eyes on the prize, Predjama is sooooo meant to be mine. But maybe a small, hidden cave shelter in the forest for coziness as well. 🤣

@@djersen yay!!! I love that someone else remembers it, most ppl I’ve met only remember “hatchet”. It was my fave as well, and I really did want to learn how to live off the land! I’m sad I never had the opportunity or instruction to, aside from what I learned in books. I am still the one everyone gets when they need a fire built, though. 🤣

I don’t know what it is but when you watch someone who can build something like this from scratch, it sort of gives me this feeling of security, even though he’s not building it for me or anyone else.

Living in natures without technology is such a healthy peaceful life. We are almost there soon we becoming that a survivalist, life with just candle light, springs water for cooking and hot coco in the morning, planting hunting for foods. Ahh NATURES! 😊
