This thought just crossed my mind. If I was living in the time of Jane Austen's novel, I'd love for the novels to be long, in multiple books, and dragged out as long as possible. I mean, what else am I going to do? There were no movies, TV series, youtube videos, podcasts, or music. That's why one household can have up to 12 kids at that time.

Hi Morgan! It is so true that you need to believe in yourself in order to make positive things happen in your life. I always find reading to be so therapeutic-giving me joy in life. I love buying books more than just downloading it on my tablet. There is nothing like having the physical book. Morgan, continue to remain positive because it enhance your self esteem and stress. It is healthy for your body.

Soft sweaters do make everything better in my opinion. I admit Jane Eyre is my favorite classic of all time, but Jane Austen makes me laugh in a way few classical (or even modern) authors manage.

Great choice! I love the BBC adaption of Persuasion from 1995. Seen it many many times and yet strangely I haven't got around to reading the book! I love the settings for the book which include Lyme Regis and Bath. I read Northanger Abbey when I was in my early twenties and I really enjoyed it, but then I like all the Gothic fiction which it spoofs. I love Pride and Prejudice and have read it more than once. Emma is supposed to be really funny.

Anne is definitely a more reserved, mature character than Austen's typical leads, and as much as I love Elizabeth and Emma, I found it really interesting exploring this new little world with Anne and Captain Wentworth. I've just recently finished reading all of Jane Austen's novels and while it makes me so sad, I agree that all of her works have a nice feel to them, like coming back home 🧡 I'm glad you enjoyed persuasion! I so recommend downloading an audio book of Pride and Prejudice and reading along with it-- it's the only way I was able to get into Austen's works and now I read them frequently and love them! Thank you for watching my videos ❤️

Last year I treated myself to a box set of Jane Austen’s books cos I absolutely love watching Pride and Prejudice and have watched the tv adaptation with Colin Firth so many times. So I’m hoping that once I have finished my studies I’ll have more free time to spend on reading and will get round to reading Persuasion. Roll on June as I can’t wait to have a day to just be able to sit and read without any worries about anything else 📚

The cinematic quality of that intro is just amazing. It reminded me of the scene in the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice after Lizzy reads Darcy's letter - it has that same kind of moody candlelight. Your editing skills are truly next-level, Morgan! Great job!

All the food that you prepared in this video looks incredible as usual! I also go through periods where I'm craving nutritional substance. And I loved the tree climbing. It looks so fun! Persuasion sounds like a worthwhile read. I've only ever read Austen in school and university but I might be convinced to give the works another shot.

I was hoping you'd reach your goal sub number by the end of December, but I also think YT has its own incomprehensible mechanisms no one will ever be able to predict. Your videos are so unique and the quality of the content and the esthetic is incredible, so I firmly believe it's just a matter of time.🌟🍀 We know you put your heart and soul in your videos, and this level of sincerity and transparency could be at odds with great numbers one day, and that's ok, we can always have patreon for that. (I plan to upgrade from peppermint to earl gray as soon as I'm able to☕). And, I noticed last week's numbers were strange almost on every channel, and I believe this could be due to the inauguration. I was glued to the livestream for a few days in a row myself (how amazing Amanda Gorman was? That last verse of The hill we climb makes me choke up every time) and I'm not even in the US. Also, may I suggest maybe a themed readathon? I feel those do so well (that's how the algorithm made me find your Anne with an e readathon 😍). I'd happily watch any day in the life by you, but I'm under the impression those kinds of themed videos do well... Sorry this was so long, and sorry for the unsolicited advice. I love your vlogs and your house! It looks so cozy and warm. I also am a huge Jane Austen fan. I've been to her house in England even. I want to go back so bad! Persuasion was the last book of hers I had to read when I was there, so I had planned to buy a copy at her house. In the shop, Persuasion fell on me....I was like, okay! I'll buy you! LMAO The ghost of Jane. Haha I highly recommend the movie that's about her later years, Miss Austen Regrets. It's so good! :)

I never really liked Jane Austen until last year when I bit the bullet and read Pride and Prejudice. My first attempt at Austin was in high school when I tried to read Sense and Sensibility. I stopped half way through and never finished it. I've changed so much since then as a reader. I've learned that when I read classics it's a necessary step to research the author and get a glimpse into their time period. Knowing that her novels are a commentary on the society of the time makes a big difference as well. I also read the forwards now. My problem right now is wanting to read large chunks at a time when I need to nibble on it. It overwhelms me a bit when I try to take too much in at once and I miss a lot of things.

I have literally the exact same introductory experience to Jane Austen. I tried to read Sense & Sensibility in high school as my first go at her works and it seemed like a foreign language. It wasn't until a few years later that I downloaded the audio book to Pride and Prejudice and read along with it that I was finally able to understand and appreciate Austen's writing. Now I love her works! I also do research-- it helps so much. Happy reading!

When I went to Costco with my mom, they actually had a book that was the complete works of Jane Austen!! I’ve never read any of her books before so I got it and it’s under $20. I’ve also seen they have it at Target and Walmart online.

Lovely video.I love Jane Austen. She's my favourite author and Persuasion is my favourite Jane Austen novel. It contains the best love letter ever (in my opinion). I usually go to the jane Austen festival in Bath every year with my husband, We wear Regency attire for the whole week and it's like slipping back in time. The balls and concerts are wonderful. Sadly it was cancelled last September due to covid and I am trying to be optomistic about this year...but who knows.

Oh my goodness, that fair sounds amazing! I wondered the whole time I was reading the novel what it would be like to visit Bath. So many of my favorite historical fiction novels take place there! @@MorganLong My husband and I host a little group called The Occassional Austen Days Group. We are a book group but we dress in Regencty style and we have a programme of events that include visits to National Trust houses, theatre and exhibitions as well as the Jane Austen Festival. We normally have picnics in the summer months too. Lots of tea and cake is consumed whilst talking about Jane Austen and her works. Lol to the hobbit comment! We just finished watching The Return of the King as a family about an hour ago so that was such a fitting comment (for the record, I've never thought you look like a hobbit). Hello lovely, such a good video. I have watched different versions of the movie Persuasion and from the sounds of your explaining the book, sounds almost totally different. But I know most books are different from the movies. I'll have to get the book and read it. Wanted to ask, do you purchase all the books you read or get them from library? Or both? Roo seems so content, quite and enjoying the winter as well. Do you walk him throughout the day and just don't video it? Being such a big dog, he seems to be full of energy. Sweet Roo!! I had the same breakfast today, yum. What was the last dollop you put on the oatmeal? Looks like peanut butter? I too have come to embrace the winter months. I use to dread them but am learning to calm, myself, to read more and just relax. This is such a productive season and much to enjoy and appreciate. I'm enjoying it for my health too. I enjoyed seeing you embrace and appreciate this season as well. TFS.

@@MorganLong You're welcome. Awh, you run a mile! That's one of the reason's you have a gorgeous figure. 👍 I champion you for that, and having Roo run with you is awesome. I'm certain he loves it💞 too. No wonder he's all chilled when you video...lol. My son has a chocolate lab, named Bogey, and boy oh boy, the energy level on him is wild...lol. I'm 65, so past my running days (for me), but do enjoy long walks. Aha, almond butter, I have that, so tomorrow it's getting a dollop of that in my oatmeal. Ty. Yes I've seen 2 different versions of Persuasion, liked both, but now going to find the book. I too shop for used if I can. I shop at ThriftBooks online and am very happy with their service. Have you heard of them? I also shop local to a place here in Ohio called Half Price Books. They also will send you books thru the mail but I go inside. Can't wait till things are better to go often. Thank you so so very much, Selma 🌞🌞 I can feel the sunshine!! I really made an effort to make this vlog as cinematic as possible and I'm happy you've noticed. I would so love to be a musician. I tried to learn the piano as a child and my piano teacher literally gave up on me! I haven't really tried anything else since. Maybe it's time to try again!

Thank you so much for the double view and comment, friend! I definitely recommend starting with Pride and Prejudice. And if you can, download the audiobook to listen along as you read! It was the only way I was able to understand the writing and enjoy the story. There are tons of free audiobook adaptations!
