I feel privileged to catch up with this engaging event as time zones meant I missed it live. I devoured the book beforehand. Now, hearing and seeing the author adds to the experience and I can hardly wait to re-read. (Just typical though that, like the legendary buses, three library book reservations came to me all at once and I can't kept the next people waiting.) "Conversation with" is apt - the input from Emily and Ammon gave an interesting dimension and distinction from many book discussions. Great start to the Book Thing.

My problem with the singular "they" is the use of the plural verb. For example, I read a book where the author kept using "they are", "they walk" to refer to a singular person and it was very confusing to me. I literally thought they were referring to multiple people. After I figured it out it still just sounded like the character had a split personality or something like Venom from the Marvel comics. Personally, I think people should use singular verbs to help. For example "they is", "they walks". It doesn't help with phrases like "they went" but it helps... I don't know... Also, people in the midwest still use "dungarees" although it usually refers to overalls and not just regular jeans. This is a very cool podcast. I wasn't sure what to expect but I watched it having not read the book. I plan to read the book now, though, I put it on my list.
