Thank you so much for this conversation. I am protracted and have been dealing with this for some time now. I found that being stubborn and pissed off has been my strength. Pissed off that this happened to me and no-one will take responsibility or acknowledge the problem and stubborn that I will not let this beat me. I will beat this, it will not beat me!

OG Matt Samet baby!!!! I read all his stuff circa 2013 when he was most active in this community. I was checking this channel an hour before this was posted b/c my spidey senses were activated that something big was happening. And whaddaya know, jackpot! Matt has an incredible way with words and a very gentle demeanor that are just so reassuring/needed for this population. We're lucky to call him our own, even if it's justifiably a club nobody would rightfully *want* to join.

Thank you guys. I'm 40 day out from a forced cold turkey after 28 years on benzos and also was poly-drugged. Nicole, you have been such a blessing to me throughout this taper of psych drugs and the damn CT, and now being injured and recovering. I'd imagine we'd be friends if we met on the path. Thanks for all you do and the authenticity you bring to the table.

Wow. What a huge help. Nicole thank you for your consistent efforts to bring to light another aspect of healing. As you know, self imposed isolation is both helpful and hurtful. Listening to you and Matt offers words to a wordless and pain filled journey. I am not alone. I will not give up. If my only real connection for now is via social media, then so be it. Thank you!

Great conversation! Thanks for all you do ~ I feel validated on this channel. Three weeks to go and I'll be 6 years off Klonopin, 5 1/2 years off Topamax and 5 years off Effexor XR. I still have insomnia, neuropathy and body aches, BUT, they do not prevent me from doing anything!!! My symptoms are annoying....... The rage I felt when at the height of my withdrawal symptoms, propelled me to find ways to heal. I walked outside every day, starting with 5 minutes twice daily. In time, I was walking 6 miles a day and began running again. It took me a LONG time to heal. I slowly got back into life, but at least, I'm a part of life. This was the hardest thing I've ever done, but to not have any chemicals in my body is nothing short of amazing. Dig deep within your soul..... Janet

At this point, 6 years since my last dose of Klonopin, it's a bother and very annoying. I can do anything I want, but still have all these annoying withdrawal symptoms. How are you doing???

Thiamine (B1) Taking a synthetic B1 with a lipid was the single most helpful thing I found. I megadosed it for a week then backed down to a normal dose for a year. The synthetic versions bypass the renal system for absorption and will penetrate the blood brain barrier when taken with a lipid (fat) especially an animal fat. Coconut oil works too. Sleep is the number one requirement to heal your CNS. Essentially the electricity has to be turned off in order to make repairs. A combination of D3, B5, and Acetyl-L-Carnitine can help create the paralytic sleep needed. Good luck! Don’t give up. Never give up!

@@Waves353 Brain fog mostly. But low thiamine levels are responsible for a whole host of symptoms commonly mis-diagnosed, and identical to the issues described by those with damaged GABA receptors from benzodiazepines, or alcohol. Reference Berri Berri and Korsekovs diseases for a better understanding. Hope this helps.

This is all great to hear but I do feel so weary about it because I was taking many of the mentioned supplements and I tolerated them for a little bit then it set me back and was actually making my symptoms worse.

I have ME/CFS and a spinal injury. Benzos helped me with both of those. I should never have come off. The psychotic terror of the whole of reality with all 5 senses I had for years while tapering & in WD has left but withdrawal has caused Mast Cell Activation Disorder (I react to anything I put in or on my body, all household chemicals, car fumes etc. I also now have severe spinal arthritis I didn’t have before and compulsive hyperphagia with no satiety however much I eat. I still have some DP/DR & altered bodily sensation but it is manageable and I can ignore it most of the time.

Wow, what a beautiful and powerful interview. So glad you are both doing so much better and have your lives back for the most part. Everyone going thru this or have some lasting effects can definitely be encouraged by this discussion. I read Matt’s book Death Grip in 2016 when I was going through withdrawal and it gave me hope. For the past year I have been in a setback from taking antibiotics and steroids which has lasted as long but not quite as severe as the first. The thing that keeps me going is acceptance and gratitude. As Matt said none of us are promised a perfect life and we can always see others that have it a lot worse than we do. We all learn from our experiences and I believe these experiences help us to help and give back to humanity in ways that we would not have if we hadn’t gone through them. Maybe that’s the silver lining in life. Look how the two of you have touched others lives. Why me, why Not me? We do not have the answer but our Higher Power does and we just have to trust and believe in that. Thank you both for your efforts and sharing your experience to bring awareness and change to this growing epidemic.
