Damn, I come here in 2023, and it's fascinating to see what was used back 4 years ago in a pre-EGW, pre-Arch, pre-EoF, pre-QoL era. We have it quite good now.

I learned that it will be a loooooooong time before I'm ready to take on Solak. I'll definitely watch this guide a lot though, once I'm better at pvm in general and thinking of taking him on

Thanks a lot, we tried solak before with close to no success (in a duo), now after watching your guide a few times and trying for approximately 8 hours we got our first kill down. One thing tho - the last mechanic (the high hitting bomb) can actually not be fully ignored because if noone stuns its a 12k hit. I died a few times to that because you didnt mention a stun at all. While you clearly stun it with your destroy in zerk rotation, as a ranger with no flanking switch due to food usage in first kills, I didnt use any stuns in my rotation and died a few times to being oneshot by that. I found it relatively quick on RS Wiki and was able to handle it afterwards. Maybe you said it and I missed it, but i don't think you did. Really love your guides and not mad at all just thought I'd tell you. Again - THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!

This is nice, I don't actively play rs anymore, but I run a runescape based tabletop campaign which uses a modified version of the pre eoc mechanics while being set in the rs3 world and story. This will give me some good grounds to balancing this out when my group gets to it.

One change to phase 4 as a dpser: The large bomb attack can be generally ignored if there are meleers or mages on the team, as destroy and asphyxiate are stuns, which reduce the hit. If you are duoing with ranged and not using any stuns, this attack can deal very high damage. To prevent this, use tight bindings and/or binding shot on occasion, and you should be good to go. My apologies for missing this, although I did bring range in some kills ( 9:55 ) I did not range in any duos, where this is most likely to be an issue. @@DrayxArt pretty much deals with it completely just chuck on ss and stun just like 2 times b4 nuke and it will only hit like 6k considering there are literally no other damage sources just keep ss on and dont eat to keep dpsing

My fancy friends taught me Solak last night, and they like to bomb skip, one-cycle the core and anima rain, and no realm. It was insane, tons of fun, quite difficult, but after four deaths, it was smooth sailing! There's no rush like playing chicken at the very end and praying the DPS is enough. 😂 Thanks for the guide! Cleared a lot of things up.

Note for no realming: use wrath and vengeance on p4 if you're not gonna make it, this can make the difference between finishing and failing with just barely enough hp left.

Hi. I am having a problem with following your no realm rotation. Is it really possible for the last flanking backhand to finish cd and be part of the zerk rotation? Zerk finishes before it goes off cooldown. Im forced to use greater fury instead.

if you have a max cape the perks you put on the max cape will go to all non-skillcape capes in your cape slot

When I saw that Solak had been patched to scale with the number of players I hoped that he might have a reasonable solo, but it seems his scaling doesn't go below 2 players. Still a long way from me having a chance.🙃

Terrific guide, I really appreciate it. A few pointers that were not mentioned: - Dislike that you had guthix staff in inventory as the base tank, it's a waste of an inventory slot and something you'd almost never use at Solak. Recall that players have 100% accuracy on everything at Solak except for the roots. - Also you said the blight core spawns just south of solak in p1, it's actually just north. - In p2, if DPS is insufficient, the p2 mechanics will reset after 3rd blight rain back to the bomb field on repeat endlessly until the purple bar reaches 0%. - Also important to note that the number of stuns required is based on the number of people outside the mind attacking solak. Meaning, if 2 people are in the mind attacking erethdor during the special, the number of stuns is only based on the number of people outside, not total team size. For example, in teams of 4, only 1 stun is required if there are 2 in the mind. - Not a good idea for only DPS to go into mind realm on p3 for duo!! Both player should go in so that both people can flank, leading to more damage than one player going in twice. Base should enter first so that upon exiting he/she can go back to praying melee, as Solak will hit whoever exits first. I noticed you got him to ~70k damage on your own which is crazy DPS, but is not very likely for a lot of players out there, most certainly not beginners. - Don't forget to mention on p4 that Solak can only be healed in barricade beacuse it saps the player's health! You're welcome to heal him anytime, if you want to suicide, 1500hp at a time. (Useful if you're in immortality and enhanced devoted prevents you from dying in time to proc the immortality). - Also not recommended for base to shatter before going inside (especially while learning) as the rate of manifestation spawn in the mind increases both by time and damage dealt. Shattering before entering will result in an additional 3-4 manifestations being present, making it tougher to reel them all in. Also consider suggesting immortality in bigger team sizes where it's more difficult to survive in the mind, instead of metamorphosis. - The DPS rotation for all team members outside should include stuns, so I'd recommend having the base throw flanks/stuns + asphyxiate/destroy, as it will reduce the damage dealt on the wild bomb outside on the DPS, which will always hit past maximum life points if no stuns are thrown. - Spam clicking Solak while barricaded will out-heal up to 3 manifestations damaging Solak. Past that it's more worthwhile to tag rather than heal. - Ranged bases can use non-planted feet death swiftness for a bit of extra damage.

@@AugmentingLight 6k within sunshine is usually not worthwhile spending 25% adrenaline on, with blast diffusion boots you could easily have a perfect sun rotation without flanking. :D

Thanks for the feedback! I've explained my reasoning behind some of the things you mentioned you would add, some of which I disagree with. Some of the things you commented were literally in the guide. The immort rotation for larger teams, the extremely niche use case of the guthix staff (and explanation for why I bring it), and the repetition of p2 mechanics is in the "order of attacks" slide. It wasn't highlighted as even when soloing in duo mode and camping defensives it will naturally phase shortly after 2nd bombs. If two players zerk/meta in the realm p3 you will overkill erethdor. You're talking about zerking and voking to optimize flanking; there's no way you don't both have to off early in that case and lose damage. Leaving the base outside is not a dps loss, and allows the basing strategy to remain consistent across all team sizes. Using stuns p4 was omitted as in research we literally only found one case where the bomb wiped a team, and it was due to a meleer zerking late. Healing Solak is only feasible in cade, we're in agreement here. Using it to proc immort wouldn't be helpful in any way, and although you could do it, cade is the only time you should do it. As a general rule when making a guide you want to include relevant information, and I determined that a breakdown of the heals would cause unnecessary confusion, and would never actually come up in a kill. As you say yourself "You're welcome to heal him anytime, if you want to suicide." Base shattering: the base shattering for 30k damage isn't going to greatly impact the rate of manifestation spawns within the scope of the whole kill/phase. For stun timing p3: this was left out to not cause any confusion, but it could have easily been added; we decided not to mention it as everyone outside should stun regardless (as stunner role is not established)

Hey It was very nicely mentioned in the guide that no switches (flanking or lunging) were to showcase the boss in the most simple form possible. For a learner team, having only one person deal with realm p3 is sufficient, especially now since p3 ONLY has 200k hp. (We already talked about flanking not being used for a beginner guide). Base should ALWAYS use shatter. Having another two or three manifestations spawn should be no problem as you'd still be tagging them. Mentioning teamsize is more relevant vs. how many people can stun p3, but I get your point here. Even with the most basic style no switch dps rotation, you should not be repeating mechanics on p2 (as shown in the guide) Guthix Staff is pretty great in a sunshine assuming you're not utilizing flanking and style camping (also mentioned in the video)
