A Complete Guide to LONG EXPOSURE Photography | Seascapes and Shutter Speeds
Ойын-сауық
In this video I go over my process for photographing long exposure seascapes. I talk about what shutter speeds I like the best, how to calculate those shutter speeds for really long exposure, and the decisions I make with this style of photography. This video is great for both beginners and more advanced photographers.

Amazing video! Great tips, thank you!
Excellent. Great tips well explained 👍
great info, great photos,thanks
Great video, Mike. Going to the ocean is on my list. 🤔
I just got the ML-L7 for my Z7II as the firmware update 1.40 included the addition. It's fabulous and has 2 Fnc buttons, I have one for the 'i' and one for 'menu'. The controller has a multi-function controller to move settings.
Awesome shots man, great video and explanations.

Mike and Chris, thanks very much for entertaining and informative videos. I enjoy them immensely. A completely sideways question - what kind of boots are you wearing early in this video? They look interesting.
Great informative video
Great shots. Thanks for explaining why you made each exposure decision!

I'd add a good pair of wellies to the essential equipment for beach shots here in the UK plus long spikes for the tripod (not just the short ones)
HI MIKE.PLEASURE VIDEO .I SEW IN ISLAND The water was bad enough but it also washed from sand onto the sea,. thank you,
I would like to see you work on the photos combining them in LR or Photoshop
Very good Mike. For someone that lives in Arizona, you shoot seascapes very well.

Rogue wave soaked my whole bag. The water was bad enough but it also washed in sand onto everything. Rookie lesson learned. Thanks for the info. 🥂

@@PereaPhotography if only I had watched this video four years ago.
Brill 👍🏻
Where would you put your focus point in the scene? And what metering are you using? Partial? Spot? Is f11 the perfect aperture? Thanks.
💯💯💯
Have you tried 200mm with 15 stop nd filter, for this kind of photography? Sadly I don't have 10 stop for my wide angle lens, yet.
I'm beginning in long exposure. I have a 1000 nd, and I try with single shot or 3 bracketed -2 -0 - +2 exposure shots is also a polarized filter necessary to get a nice color of the water?
Bazillion images, now that's a lot, so many images, so little time 😂😂great video Mike, very informative👍😎👍

Hello from the UK. Very informative video and lovely images. May I ask whether for the shorter exposure shots taken without ND filter, did you use any other filters, such as a UV or polariser? Thanks.

Thank you! I didn’t have any other filters on at the time for the shorter exposures.

I found the square glass nd-filters are very fragile
Magicseaweed sadly isn't available for Android 😕 do you have any alternatives?
What's the name of the mobile app you're using dude?
Nice breakdown. Yup, let's keep the math to a minimum. 🤪

6:00 Калькулятор ND-фильтров должен быть в современных камерах, а не мобильных приложениях ;-)
Is it possible to take photos without ND filters can't invest much !

Yes absolutely!! But you would need to wait for lower light situations like sunrise/sunset. Then you can usually get nice 1/5” to maybe even 1” shutter speeds.
To me that scene needs a prop and get lower. I live on beach and shoot daily long and short exposure. Coconuts rocks, shells or sticks throw something in front brake up the hoo hum.
I’m also a huge fan of long exposure shots! However, I keep over exposing the shots!!! It drives me nuts 🥜👎 Thank you 🙏
Do you have Asthma ??
500 $ for 82 mm filters !????? Seriously !!!!! We don’t all have 82 mm lenses 😂
Ha,ha,ha, Sand und Wasser...
