So awesome to hear him say. I won’t copy another bait but instead made the sprinker frog. Too many companies making jdm knockoffs, when they have the respect not to do that to another bait maker.

Topwaters are the only baits where people set the hook without feeling the fish. Don’t wing instantly or do the 3 count, set the hook when you feel the fish pulling the bait just like you would with any other bait. Edit: Ben, Hideki, and THUT team thank you for the amazing content and info! Nobody brings it like THUT.

I can’t ever understand half of what Hideki says but DAMNIT I sure can listen to him talk fishing all day. Dudes passion and knowledge is contagious, even with a slight communication barrier.

Hideki san thought process is something unique. It is insane and amazing how many of details and knowledge in this video! This conversation should extend for a second round only for the rabbit holes of frog fishing. How does he use the frogs to extend the bite time? Why don’t Teckel make replacement tails for the Sprinker frog in straight black? They sell the black Teckel frog why not the replacement tails?

First time I ever used the Sprinker I caught a five pounder. Such an insanely violent bite.

It needs 2 things. First, it needs the correct hook set - the hook is designed to twist out of the frog, so you have to pause after the strike and give them a couple seconds before swinging. That’s the biggest thing. 2nd thing - you can bend the hooks out - not up - out. I demonstrated this on our Staff 5 video last week. This helps. If you do those 2 things it’ll become one of the highest hook up ratio frogs in your box 👍

Hideki is the Cotton Cordell of Japan. I consider Cotton as the best lure inventor in the states. Everyone has copied his baits. The Cordell Hot Spot was invented long before the Rat-L-Trap which gets the credit as the first lipless. I think the Heddon Sonic and Bayou Boogie where even before the Hot Spot but the Hot Spot is the shape everyone copied. I caught an 11-3 on a Hot Spot. He invented the pencil popper also among many others.

@@rhodesianhunter9360 Cotton made a plastic remake of the original ones that were hand carved from wood by Fred Young. Cotton didn’t invent it. The Fred Young originals are worth a fortune.
