A collaborative Wild Horse Sanctuary Vision

"Mustangs have captured a part of my heart and soul for sure. I understand that feeling of being on your own, left to your own devices to survive, and the need to fend for yourself. I also understand (wholeheartedly so) the need to be free, to exist well outside of physical and social limitations and that is why their language captivates me so. It has always been a part of my very being, and why speaking the language of the horses feels like second nature to me." ~ Anna Twinney, Founder of Reach Out to Horses.
It’s always easy when you know how and yet it’s not something that is included in equine curriculum or horsemanship courses and yet it’s so important and makes an everlasting impression. Horses have their own non verbal communication and dialect. It’s from decades of observing wild and domestic horses that ROTH was born. This is no ordinary method for we share the insights into how horses connect and communicate naturally www.reachouttohorses.com
The horses of the Wild Horse Sanctuary in Shingletown are fortunate. They have found their sanctuary, the good people who want to help protect them and see to it that they have lives that are worth living. For several years now, these horses have functioned as our master teachers as they teach ROTH students the subtleties of the language of Equus. Unlike domestic horses, they have not had to learn to ignore unclear body language from people or in-congruent energy. An unhandled mustang has indeed made no concessions with regards to the integrity of his language. His dialect is unfettered, free from confusion and human obstruction, and at ROTH, we aim to help him keep it that way by educating people to understand the horse's very own language rather than asking them to come into a knowledge of our own.
