Mudwings are the most underrated dragon. I hardly see info on them, and even Tui herself said that they are forgotten and said it will be difficult to work them back in the series. It makes me happy to see an ACUAL documentary on them.

Yes and that’s because they aren’t interesting enough they have no special history, also saying “Sky-wings are just generic dragons” isn’t enough because atleast they have a good design.

I’m working on a fanfiction exploring the idea of “PureWing supremacy” and how hybrids are looked down upon by some, but because of the growing peace and encouraged interaction between tribes more and more are emerging. There’s an underground group run by a MudWing, a LeafWing, a SilkWing, and a SkyWing that are working to “stop” this phenomenon(although it really just comes down to them using another hybrid, a HiveWing Rainwing assassin, to try to just start killing off hybrids and scare hybrid relationships. Basically: MudWing villain(Bobcat) and MudWing protag(his son, Bear)

@@skinless5136 i keep seeing that you've replied to a lot of people about mudwings here, the fact that they have no "special history" is the exact reason that they should have more focus. the fandom only focuses on the mudwings because they lack so much focus in canon. they're not overrated, they're the least loved tribe if anything, especially by Tui.

I feel like a real problem with the mudwings is that we see Clay's sibling group and that's.... it. We don't ever really see any of the other mudwings or THEIR groups. Clay's siblings are quite literally more important than the QUEEN, and even Clay's siblings are mostly background characters.

We only get to have a Mudwing pov character in the first book. Altogether, over the course of 10+ years, the cumulative amount we have spent in the Mudwing Kingdom is less than a single character, as most of book 1 was spent worldbuilding and being trapped in the Dragon Hunger Games. The coolest detail of their tribe (and the entire continent for that matter, in terms of tribal History) in the books is one throwaway line in Wings of Fire Legends: Darkstalker. Even with ALL OF THAT, I love Mudwings. And I'm going to keep loving Mudwings, too! Maybe if enough of us come together, we can get it through Tui's head that 1 chapter isn't enough. She did our soft earth bois dirty ._.

@@elfietheespeon9462 no she didn’t do any tribe dirty by your argument we should get a whole book on what silk-wings use to live like, mud-wings are OVERRATED at this point pretty much all the community thinks their a good tribe. Also I don’t think “if enough of us band together” isnt enough she didn’t kill peril because peril is a fan favourite, she’d honestly be justified in just have mud-wings go extinct by the end of the book

I think MudWings are a pretty interesting tribe, their sibling-oriented family, lingo (sibs, Bigwings, unsib, etc), and powers are quite unique from just the standard "firefirefire, iceiceice, waterwaterwater." This close to exploring the idea of a family owned store with a sib group of MudWings named after mushrooms 🏃🏃

As a Mudwing lover myself, I feel Mudwings are the most underrated and least explored of all the tribes. They have so much potential and it's a shame Tui seems not to care about them.

One thing that I think about the mudwings is that Moorhen needs to have an actual role in something, because so far in the series all the other queens have done something big to advance the plot. Scarlet captured the dragonets, and Ruby freed the skywings from her rule. Coral is Tsunami’s mother, and is the first one to really bring animus magic into the series. Glacier didn’t do much, but Snowfall had a whole book. I mean, I don’t think I have to talk about the sandwing queens. Battlewinner thought of the idea of capturing the rainwings, and Glory, of course, had a huge role. I’m not gonna talk about the pantalen queens, but they all had big roles. Moorhen is more of a side character. She needs something to happen with her.

I think MudWings are really underused, as Tui could make a really interesting story about a MudWing dragonet who hates their siblings and is a loner.

I honestly really love the MudWings They’re familial bond with their siblings is fascinating to me and they’re just a really strong tribe If Tui ever just wrote books about each tribe specifically I would love a MudWing one

Mudwings are probably the most underrated dragon as they don't have much unique abilities aside the fact they can hold their breath for a hour but Seawings can replace them as they can completely breath in water and have dark vision as well as their history is more fascinating . Mudwings are just kinda there, sitting in the corner, unless your Clay .

Nice video! I honestly think that the reason Mudwings are often overlooked also has to do with how they're characterized most of the time. From what I've read so far (which is the dragonet prophecy) the majority of them are obsessed with food as a defining character trait, and as many have said already, are treated more like expendable background characters instead of a well defined, important tribe like the others. It's honestly a shame, as the concept of a swamp-based dragon is really interesting, and needs to be explored. I also feel like their designs are a bit too.... bland? I feel like a bit more in terms of armor orientation and markings can be added to the body to make them look/feel a bit more intimidating and unique. I imagine them having more splotchy/spotted markings, more flat and rounded back spines (to mimic how rocks often look in mud), and a few teeth that jut out of the mouth like a crocodile (which mudwings were based off of). Just more defining features that show why they would be viewed as a particularly formidable tribe of dragons that practically live in mud. I do hope we get a stand alone Mudwing novel in the future that explores their society a lot better, but for now, Mudwings are unfortunately the Riverclan of WoF.

For me, it felt wrong from the beginning if any of the five DoD would be paired with each other since they all DO have a Mudwing-like sibling closeness if you analyse it. They aren't friends, they are siblings that just had different colored eggs/body types.

I have a confession to make. MY FAVORITE TRIBES ARE THE MUD BOIS. They're just underrated, and I wanna give them more loaf. also 4:29 Plot armor, am i right?

Yea, I agree that the Mudwings need some more love. I also hope that Sora and Umber's story gets some much-needed closure even if it's another Winglet short story that explains it.

I would absolutely love to see more about MudWings. They seem much more focused on family bonds than love bonds, this is shown through how they have sib groups and breeding nights, where sibs are expected to stay with each other and rely on each other, whereas breeding nights are just nights that need to happen to make sure the tribe doesn’t die out. I think this could be taken into detail and consideration. I would love a WoF MudWing spinoff series that has each book’s protagonist be a different MudWing sib. I would absolutely ADORE seeing more of this giant square (sometimes very dangerous) teddy bears.

Mudwings are pretty cool it would be nice if they did stuff though.

It’s because they had nothing to really do with the war and they haven’t really had any setting of the mudwing, and through protagonists we’ve seen other places and we don’t need a protagonist pov who is mudwing but something that has the mudwing kingdom in place

I think people mess around with underrated and overrated to much, people say mud-wings are the most “underrated” tribe when if 75% of the community says their “underrated” they are now “overrated” if someone just starts reading wings of fire and they see “mud-wings underrated” from the whole community they’ll think “huh, they must be a pretty good tribe if everyone thinks their good!” Then they keep reading and their expectations aren’t met, which makes them overrated

I really want to know more about mudwings but they were just left out in the dirt. Like I really want to know about their culture it's just that they are put in a way of being uninteresting. I wish there was more info. I hope theres like a winglet/legends about them. Mudwing might not have a lot going for them but AUs really make them thrive sometimes! I have a au :) They have a more crocodlion

So for anyone curious this civil war is in the guide book and the queen that died was named Egret and she had no heirs. The mudwings lost territory and a lot of other stuff while in the civil war. Olive ended up marrying Prince Sawgrass but before married Olive had eggs so Sawgrass adopted the daughter so Olive took the throne and handed it to her daughter without fighting and was one of the only queens who died peacefully in her sleep.

How do mudwing females challenge for the throne if they don’t know if they part of the royal blood line or not??? Are they the only mudwings that keep track of family or can any female challenge

It 7:42 right now..... I just wanted to tell you that

One little nit pick with the mudwings (and I am not a professional at what I am about to talk about, this is just what I know) but their wings don’t seem all that useful. I know most people draw them with wings that go from shoulder to base of tail but in official art they clearly have wings that stem from just the shoulder. This would be find, Skywings have this too but they have smaller body’s and slightly larger chests for bumping blood. (Even Skywings don’t really look right with it) But mudwings are big and bulky. Like the bee problem, they should not be able to fly. If there is someone with better knowledge about this, please correct me if I am wrong.

It is possible that when the scorching happened Bettlewings and Leafwings inhabited Pyrrhia.

All the potential that is used but not referenced as MudWing content. Sigh... Imagine how the first arc would have been WITHOUT Clay's family-caring instincts that got shared into the other DoD personalities. Just imagine if the other four Dragonets of Destiny acted as their tribes or the guardians did.

If you tried, you could also try seeing the other DoD as mudwings, and (aside parts when a different tribe's power is used, or the whole Sunny-Star thing that still felt wrong from a beginning), you could say the story still fits well thanks to the "sibling-closeness" they have. (Lol "The Dragomuds of Destiny")

I call it what if deathworms were in Pyrrhia let me explain Deathworms obviously live in the kingdom of sand in Pyrrhia they typically grow up to 200 meters in length bigger than anything in the world they have strong armor Immune to all dragon weapons (except fire scales) have long horns coming from their heads with legs only on their neck area and strong mandibles in their mouths which leads to their actual mouth that is a tooth filled with razor sharp teeth they are even rumors that they have stingers at the end of their tails(they actually don’t)they typically live for 2,000 years in live and lay over 160 eggs every 3 years the eggs are the same size as a small dragonet along with the hatchling but then they grow the same size as morrowseer and finally they turn into 200 meter long adults and after 2,000 years they finally die of old age but there are changes of an alpha being born which are white in color a lack of the brown and tan colors deathworms usually have alphas are bigger,stronger and more aggressive than the normal ones are but since they are alphas they lack the speed and too bulky and the lifespan for an alpha is only 171 years but when they are babies they feed on the other hatchings. DIET:deathworms are usually carnivores and eat anything they can get it with their horns as a sensitive organ to track prey’s vibrations on the ground they go to the source of the vibrations and when they do they emerge from the ground grab the hunted pray and it’s mandibles and then finally going back into the sand where they suffocate their prey of course being bigger than dragons they usually swallow them whole. BEHAVIOR:deathworms are not aggressive unless they are hungry unlike the alphas they usually just stay under ground sleeping or they travel around the dunes. MYTHS:one of the common myths that dragons use that they see scavengers on the back heads of normal deathworms with strange blades dogged into their skulls riding them across the kingdom of sand A skeleton of a deathworm is in queen oasis treasure room And finally this is where you discuss what would happen if the deathworms were in wings of fire you don’t have to do this but this is just a fun helpful suggestion see ya next year pal:).
