I think there should be a miniseries called “The Detailed Guide To The ________” and it gives history of certain tribes, like RainWings, SkyWings, SandWings, and more. I know that at the beginning of the book, there is a brief guide, but these books give deeper information, like royalty, history, habits, dragons, and more.

I remember hearing that she did wanna make a winglet on it RainWings def won't get a Legends book, Legends books are once per arc and only for explaining the events that led to the arc (e.g. Darkstalker's era to Arc 2) and Arc 3 is def gonna get a Legends book on the Scorching

I give them a 9/10 Bc of how they were so not caring for what happened to others in the 3d book but over all my favorite tribe on the contenet

I think, based off their anatomy, they are way to overpowered, and could possibly force the other tribes to obey. They already have night wings under their control, meaning they’d have 5 tribes to conquer. They could swiftly force the sea wings to stay under the sea, which will (as proven by tsunami’s and turtle’s POV) would drive them insane and force them to the upper grounds once in a while, where they’d either be killed or forced into submission. The ice wings can now be invaded, especially after the events of book 14. The rain wings could hypothetically use night wing fire to warm them up as they take the ice wings by force next, leaving mud wings, sand wings and sky wings. Sky wings are fast, but it is proven that they can easily cave under the rain wing queens army at that point. Then, the mud wings. If they conquer the mud wings, which should be an easy task unless the sand wings can give them aid, they can surround the sand wings on all sides. Keep in mind it would take a simple duel for a rain wing to win the eye of onyx as it was never featured to only be for sand wings. Rain wings can conquer the tribes pretty easily. That would leave future Pantala, when the place is (hopefully) banished of the othermind. The rain wings would have the map across the sea, and well, three tribes against seven wouldn’t be fantastic odds. All of a sudden, rain wings rule all. That was if they had ruthless minds. Overall, I believe tui made them a little too powerful, so they get a 6/10 for me.

I love rainwings. They’re pretty, have interesting lore, and have their overpowered ness compensated for by laziness and isolation (well, for the most part)

I'm so glad Glory came and took the queen role and taught them how to read and write and keep better track of eggs and help with the NightWings. Im so glad their taking better care of themselves and being more active like the other tribes.

Man, imagine being with who you thought was the love of your life, you decide to have a dragonet together and before doing.. dragon stuff.. you try the venom test and find out they're your brother! Must be a bit awkward lmao.

I can imagine that the other queens are absolutely terrified of Glory. More than just the unprecedented fact that she is the queen of two tribes. She shows up out of nowhere and attacks the Skywing queen, resulting in her disappearance and Ruby ascending the throne. She shows up again a short time later to stage a coup in the rainforest and then immediately afterwards pursues a military expedition against the Nightwings, seemingly resulting in the death of their queen and the displacement of their people. Then, as a Dragonet of Destiny she played a role in determining who rules the Sandwings. That's quite an ambitious foreign policy, and I'm sure questions would be asked when the Pantala dragons showed up, such as 'what would be the consequences if they resettled (even temporarily) in the rainforest?' and 'Does she want to be the queen of four tribes now?'

the rainwings probably were excluded from the war because their venom, camouflage, and sleeping darts would make them an undefeatable enemy. Plus, the wiki says they were more threatening back then.

Now I’m wondering though: If sleeping under the sun gives a RainWing the ability to change the colour of their scales, how come Glory is able to do it when she was raised under a mountain with no sun? Wouldn’t she be exactly like Chameleon? Idk if this is just a plot hole or something I misunderstood, what do you think?

I think their abilities are based more on how much sleep they get, because Chameleon didn't get his midday nap and lost his ability to camouflage, but Glory had her midday naps after lunch and she changes colors all the time. Additionally, Chameleon had full access to sunlight while Glory only had the skyhole. However, sunlight does still affect their scales because according to Liana, Glory has 'mousy' scales, but Chameleon is never said to have dull scales, I don't think. And sunlight also affects their other abilities, as in venom, because Glory couldn't use venom until after she was exposed to sunlight, and it also affects their energy and moods (but NOT their personalities.) Long story short, sleeping is likely more vital to camouflage and color change, but sunlight is the factor that makes venom-shooting and better moods possible.

FACT: Rainwings CAN change the color of their eyes, as Tui told a fan online. If you don't believe me, look it up. If you still don't believe me, (if you have it) Look at the Hidden Kingdom graphic novel. Go on page 27. Glory has teal-green eyes. Now go to page 20, Glory has red eyes. Now go to page 89. Glory now has dark blue eyes. Go to page 143. Amber eyes? Its not JUST Glory. on page 143 you can also see kinkajou has pink-magenta eyes. Go to page 146, kinkajou has really dark purple eyes. I don't think this is a mistake, how could the illustrator 'mess up' the eye colors so many times. Because Rainwings can change the eye colors, not sure HOW this works, but it is odd.

Omg I love this series, it’s nice to get a recap of the story once in a while

The Rainwings are by far one of my favorite tribes in the series. Admittedly it is partially because they have one of my favorite characters as their queen. But I also like their abilities, sure it isn't breathing fire, but instant camouflage and an acidic spit are no laughing matter (and the best way to maintain those powers, Afternoon sleeping!). The only thing that frustrates me is their carefree attitude towards EVERYTHING! little to no care for family, the happenings outside their borders, and at one point even their tribe itself! But I'm holding out hope that best queen will whip them into shape as a society, while, of course, keeping the better aspects of the tribe intact. I really wish for a book dedicated to how Glory rules over two entire tribes, it would be so interesting how the two cultures would clash as well as influence one another. I also wonder how the other queens would feel knowing that Glory achieved the impossible of not only ruling over multiple tribes (a wet dream for most I'm sure) but all but conquered the ever-elusive Nightwing tribe of all things! Point is, despite the necessity of being lazy every now and then, it is a very interesting time to be a Rainwing.

I’m pretty sure Beetlewings and Leafwings actually evolved from RainWings, but that’s just a theory.

Without going into to much detail I believe there was a original dragon tribe that first split into SkyWings, Beatlewings and the mudwing. And eventually when the RainWings evolved some of them became leafwings.

That is a possibility! in Sundew's book Sequoia says that beetlewings and/or leawings once had venomous fangs, and in the guide they are said to absorb sunlight, much like the rainwings

I think that there were element tribes (Fire, Ice, Earth, Water, Night, Day) and eventually merged or changed in time to become the dragons we know today. RainWings are a mutated version of Day and Earth combined. Your theory is possible as well.

Thank you for going over the history of Rainwings! They are my favourite tribe.

I'm making a fanfiction about Grandeur's life before the series, so this helped a lot.

I think my fav part of the book was when Winter went to their tribe and got to see the younger Rainwings who were so fascinated by Winter being an Icewing that they were trying to look like him. Its just cool cuz they weren't just trying to get the color right but the scales and the way his tail looked. I imaging in their prime they might have done this in the past, try to look almost identical to another tribe.

no? They don't need to sleep in the sun for their venom literally this is mentioned no where? It's naturally their whether they get sun or not however, they do need Sun-Times to change color. Because chameleon is unable to get a proper sleep schedule and unable to partake in sun time he cannot change his colors. That's literally can lore.

Also, Chameleon had a snout defect so he couldn’t sleep for more than an hour at a time. Liana said too that they need sun time to brighten their scales not to change them.

That's not true, and you clearly misread some source, it's true for how they change color, and the cave had a run roof, but they deemed it too small to fly through. She also mostly shades of green with fades to other colors. Unless you can literally mention where it says in book one where it's mention, your flat out wrong.

@@enderwalkgang after the attack on scarlet, she was asked about why she never did that in the past, and the response was she never new she could. The dragonets agreed that the only possible explanation was she had never been exposed to the sunlight before, similar to how clay gained his fireproof scales after being exposed to mud for the first time.

Not really. If they're not Rainwings then they're not Rainwings And if people try to compare your species to Wings of Fire, then don't listen to them. It's your dragon species and you can do what you please with it

dragons with frills is a rather common design trope for dragons. The one identifying traits for rainwings is that their scales are a multitude of colors. So as long as you keep the colors consistent, it shouldn't be mistaken for the other.

You forgot to mention the pet sloths!

With rainwings I’ve always been pretty unhappy with the plot beat that with very few exceptions the negative stereotypes about the entire tribes are like . . . Basically correct, or at least used as fact by the narrative. The idea that rainwings are just as intelligent as the rest of the tribes but no one ever wanted to read or write is very strange to me. Honestly I love the idea of ancient rainwings though.

Half of them are camouflaged due to Sundew's use of the Gift Of Stealth, but Ultimately a Camouflaged Moon, And a Normal Qibli,Tsunami and Pineapple are captured. Later Pineapple was taken over by CottenMouth and Lizard/Freedom (The minds of the Breath of Evil- Also cottenmouth started the scorching, read the book to know) by drinking a cup of liquid offered to him infected with the plant. Later Wasp has them trapped in vines and a hivewing (crickets father, Malcilite) Trys to cut some of the vines before being taken back over. Pineapple uses his venom on Wasp and some other hivewings and they escape Later his mind is taken over by cottenmouth during the destruction of the plant.
