In this episode I take an in-depth look at both my Big Build Lamp designs and also my 'better' attempt at the skills challenge this week. Also I will be reflecting on the episode as both a fan of the programme and a contributor.
Welcome to all the new subscribers who have joined since the programme aired on 8th October and I hope you enjoy some of my other content.
As ever, thank you so much for your continued support in my disability woodworking adventures. Best Wishes, Leo Winstanley

I'm amazed at how much pressure you were all under. Respect to you for being so critical of your project, which I for one believe it is not warranted. Also I didn't realize it was recorded a year ago.. the respect and concern you show towards your fellow contestants is to be applauded. Am looking forward to the next show. 👍👍👍

Thanks for the kind feedback Harold, it was tough to see who I now know as friends toiling and struggling with this build, my total respect to them for the effort put in. I’m happy overall with my two lamps, but the small one has a special place in my heart as I think the design and quality of the build is about as good as I can do 😀👍

Great build Leo. I do love a light box but your designs were inspired. To produce that much quality in 2 days is impressive and I'm glad the judges saw that.

Very interesting perspective on what its like to be on the show. Love that Paula helped you out with the scroll saw. I hate using a coping saw even though I can change hands for a break. So easy to get cramped - might be my technique though! Looking forward to next weeks episode.

Hi Leo I enjoyed your video more than the programme. Really interesting to hear about the detailed design and making challenges. Great lamps. Maybe if the tall one had been a bit shorter with the min height made up with a taller stand underneath it would have had better proportions. Easy to say when you have seen it and heard you talking about the problem!

Thanks Mike, yes I totally agree with what you say here. I should have built a ply styled plinth for the lamp to be mounted on which proportionally would have looked much better 👍

Hi Leo, Those lamps are cool ,I like the both of them, and being from Liverpool well the Beatles good choice ,you could pick Frankie go's to Holywood or Gerry and the pacemakers my be Echo and the Bunnymen but yeh got to be Paul McCartney and John Lennon. Can't wait for next week's build , It's been good to watch. Catch you soon mate,Take care👍

Leo with out doubt you are at the top of your game but if I could ask a question what was your thought in your head when you put in for it and as a competitor do you think that the intermediate little job is needed. Once again many thanks for your taking part very instructive and very helpful in saying that you can get through things when you put it into perspective

Thanks Phil for the very kind comment pal. I think the skills challenge helps to create a bit of drama so someone who might be having a nightmare in the big build can win immunity by showcasing another skill in a mini challenge. Plus I think it creates a bit more engagement for the general public watching it for entertainment and not necessarily because they have an interest in woodworking 👍😀

No epic monolog he says ... proceeds into epic monolog ... even your camera had to take a rest 🤣 You're not human if you don't feel empathy with others having problems, even when you know that it gives you an advantage, you'd rather succeed by being better rather than because someone had a problem. I loved your lamps, they turned out beautifully ... trying to even come up with an idea must be extremely difficult, especially if you're not the artsy type (like myself) 👍 Ah the summer of 76, 10 years old and 10 weeks of summer holidays, melting tar on the roads etc ... I'm even worse now with heat and tend to hide indoors if it's 25c and over, just far too hot for me.
