A clean way to throw a cast net
Спорт
Ryan demonstrates a simple modification on how to throw a cast net that avoids getting soaked and muddy - throwing off the wrist - which also helps when throwing a cast net into the wind as you get down nice and low.

No worries Mick. We have a new online course called locating livies course being released in October so be sure and sign up for email updates on our website Ryan Moody Fishing. It will show you where to find various livies here in the tropics which is the tricky part once you master the art of the throw!
Thank You! I have been struggling with in-consistency in my throw for a long time. I have tried many different teqniques with so, so results. Your mentioning follow through like throwing a football was a "THATS IT"! moment for me. I grabbed my net went outside and have been trowing perfect circles ever since. Thank you!

Nice intro loudwire fan 👋
thanks
Its been at least 10 years since I'd cast one. I remembered the arm motion but had forgotten the net gathering. Everyone I know puts it in their teeth. I've had dentures for many years and was certain my teeth would end up in the water. Plus putting lead in my mouth isn't appealing to me anyway. I have enough problems without pickling my gourd with lead.
nice throw mate
Veryyy good
Great video. I have now got it opening into a nice circle consistently. Thank you! I'm hoping to master being able to throw it from my kayak. Prefer to do it in sitting but if that doesn't work I will attempt in standing. It's a bit shaky just standing in the yak without casting but I have trained the cast without moving my feet out on the grass. Do you think this cast would work with less net hanging (instead of 1m more like 40-50cm)?
@RyanMoodyFishing
7 жыл бұрын
The best bet is just to try it and see Tim. I agree balancing on a yak would make it a bit tricky!
you're awesome
V nice❤
yes its good way to cast not getting wet ok for getting a little bit of bait but if your going out to get some prawns hours of work on one arm you be feeling it, you be working the one arm out so some times you need to get wet to work for hours to even out the net over 2 arms
Nailed it first try. Left handed, but wasn't hard to do it backwards so to speak. Good shit for the easy to follow tutorial... Cheers mate..

coachman56 any 5 panel cast net will do the job. The one in this video seahorse brand and you'll have to track them down in you local area. This one is 9foot spread. We have another video here on our channel on cast net types and their application which might also be worth a look before you purchase. Cheers

partner348 Haha. You don't throw soccer balls - even in Australia. We have two codes of football here - what Ryan is referring to is a Rugby League pass kzread.info/dash/bejne/fZaAuNCPcbyWdc4.html And down south it's Aussie Rules. kzread.info/dash/bejne/rKyc07qzhqXLnpc.html Both very contact with no padding! mark young thanks for the question. I think we cover that in our blog and video on cast net types. www.ryanmoodyfishing.com/cast-nets-for-catching-bait/
One of the problems I see with this method is if the bait are not showing for a long period of time or it takes many throws to get them the arms tend to get very tired making it harder to throw the net properly and hurting your fingers. This is especially true with larger nets. I prefer to drape a third on my shoulder to reduce weight on my arms. No real timing of letting go of anything with teeth or the second hand, the proper friction to open the net perfectly every time comes from the shoulder, only difficulty is gauging how hard to throw the net.

+RikkiTikkiTavi Hi Ricki, Ryan uses a good pair of polaroid sunnies and pretty much only throws when he sees the bait. For bait like herring in deeper water Ryan waits until they pop on the surface making them easy to catch. Perhaps refining your bait hunting will alleviate this issue for you. Ryan generally catches all the bait he needs for a full day charter in about 15 minutes. But each to their own and if that method works for you, for sure keep using it. It's all about what works for you. Cheers Team Moody

+Ryan Moody Fishing I wish it was always so easy for me. Alot of times in my area we end up looking for bait to show on the surface in deeper water. means alot of standing around with the net ready to throw. This technique certainly works, but for the bait where I live you would end up getting tired.
