the nba deserves the sonics honestly...why wouldnt you want to keep them?...all pro sports need seattle...think about the money they are losing have teams in san antonio utah miami toronto milwauke oklahoma sacramento minnesota and new orleans and orlando and think about the profits the 8th biggest city in america which seattle is could give them lol...i dont understand ...seattles a huge market...why not bring them back?...why would you rather lose money by having teams in certain areas...and not in big areas?...

Im a Lakers fan and I say bring back the supersonics... Give them their franchise back and start up a new Oklahoma team from scratch. Seattle certainly deserves to be in the NBA.

@@trillamannwinters6963 I’m glad that I could make you laugh. However, I meant that the Houston Rockets won the NBA Finals two years before the Oilers left town. Later, to be renamed the “Titans”. The Seahawks won the Super Bowl a few years after the SuperSonics left town.

Hoping with the renovations to KeyArena (now Climate Pledge Arena) and the addition of the expansion NHL team the Seattle Kraken, I hope this leaves the door open for the Sonics return.

This is real hurt. Cleveland fans bitch and whine about ONE GUY leaving but they can rebuild around Kyrie Irving and the 4th pick in this year's draft. Seattle has no such resort. I feel for you, Seattle. Just like I felt for Charlotte when they took their Hornets. Those two teams were a big part of my childhood (Payton/Kemp and LJ/Alonzo).

A lot of Sonics fans knew the whole thing with Bennett was a sham from day one and didn't want to give their money to a dude that was bent on moving the team. To a lot of fans the team was as good as gone long before the actual move. Aubrey McClendon confirmed that. His honesty cost him $200,000 but at least he was honest that he and Bennett's group were in it to move the team all along. Fan attendance over the last 2 seasons were pretty much irrelevant.

The thunder are an abomination that never should have happened. It was a sequence of unfortunate events that led to the team just getting ripped out of their true home and it really started when coffee douche bought the team. If just a couple little things go differently we(Seattle) might have never lost them. There was supposed to be a senate vote to hold the team to their lease at key arena through 2010 that I think most people agree that if our mayor at the time hadn’t been a total bitch and caved to the nba before it could happen it would’ve passed. Had they been held to their lease for 2 more seasons, with the economy going to shit in 2008 there’s a good chance clay would’ve had to sell the team and it could have been rescued by someone who would keep it in Seattle, and I think the necessary facility upgrades would’ve happened in due time. Our mayor selling us out was a big part of it and it’s the one area where I’ll place at least a little bit of blame on Seattle.

Your not telling the whole story, Howard Schultz was a fan boy who thought he could run a basketball team. He traded all the talent for draft picks, in the future. The team was terrible, and Howard cut his loses and sold Seattle out. So enjoy your stolen squad okc you deserve the squalor your team will dwell in for years to come! Oddly the NBA game changed shortly after, the NBA doesn't deserve Seattle!

Why can't they just add the Sonics as an expansion team?

Again I am all for Seattle to have the Supersonics or any new basketball team they plan to make but I am not for a fan base to complain when they don't support their team. 4 thousand empty seats is big for a struggling team that needs support other then when they get moved. And a "gutted" team is no excuse to not support your team. The Rose Garden in Portland holds 19 thousand and the attendance record for Blazer games for last year was over 20 thousand. Not bad for a non playoff team.

They should direct their hate towards Howard Shultz. He was the one dumb enough to sell the team. Starbucks sales should have dropped after he did that to them. Clay Bennet is not the villain. He was just a businessman making business moves. You can't hate him for taking a team to his hometown. THUNDER UP!!!!

The new arena wasn't the only thing. I am all for Seattle keeping another horrible sports team but lets face the facts; the Seattle fans only seriously cared about their team when they finally learned the team was moving to OKC. Look at the attendance averages for the last 4 years of the Sonics: 16,475, 16,198, 15,955, and 13,355. 13,355! That's low for a fan base who wants to keep their team. Now for the first 4 years of the Thunder: 18,704, 18,003, 18,148, and 18,203. OKC seems to care more.

Yeah buddy, 9 years later and now look at OKCs attendance now that they are losers. They are at the bottom of the league in attendance....last I checked, 28th out of 30 teams. The Sonics always had loyal fans and supported their team even in leaner times. When the bandits from Oklahoma bought the team and planned on moving no matter what...that's when Sonics fans lost interest in supporting that bandit-owned franchise on it's way out of Seattle.

I'm very late but from what I understand, OKC has nothing else to do. And they were gifted a promising franchise. Would be hilarious if they end up leaving OKC.

I think the NBA needs less teams. Out of the 30 they have now only like 15-20 of them are any good. I think it would be better to shut down 10 teams and bring in 5 new ones. It would give people in Seattle and other places who want a team a competition. Like which ever 5 cities can get the most players to want to player for them. It would create money and interest in not only the NBA but the cities as well.

Like 200 something straight sell outs in Oklahoma City, yall won't be getting our team, trust me the Thunder are the best fan base in sports history, and the most loyal.

I agree with you I love basketball, The Storm are great, Seattle U is making a comeback, U of Wash. Huskies women kick ass. I was there in 1967 at 7 years old watching these guys as tall as trees playing hoops called the Seattle SuperSonics, I am hoping the green and yellow comeback someday.

Not to mention the crowds that flood the streets in Bricktown on game days and play offs...far cry from the minimal attention of Seattle fans. 3. Your management sold it. OKC was in the Market but Seattle made the offer. Wasn't even suppose to be a Basket ball team. Chesapeake center was renovated for an NHL Team which fell through. 4. robbed? your city fell several votes short to overturn the sell and build a new stadium. BTW not peep or protest from fans... few there were 5. Now that they have upper management that knows what they're doing(recruiting, marketing, and trades), winning season, all stars players and couch, with this video tell me which city exactly is acting like the crazy Ex. 6. the fans: 50 people protesting the move in Seattle to OKC and no where to be found when the Sonics were there does not impress me. A sold out crowd in OKC that even after losing their first playoff appearance to the Lakers in the first round(who went on to win the championship 2008), the crowd stood and did not leave the stadium and applauded their team for a successful season. That's class, Those are real fans. That's a city that deserves the Team.
