A Christmas Story
It was the day before Christmas in Worth Valley, as the snow fell all around early in the morning, Santa's Locomotives were being made ready for Santa.

Now that I've watched your most excellent video, my Christmas is complete. And seeing the old American loco was an added bonus. Most awsome job. Thank you so much. American Trucker.
just got home from a late shift at work this evening to find this ...atmospheric ..gorgeous ...beautifully crafted ..film of a landscape I know and love from my childhood nearby. As always and forever Ken ..you are the gold standard by a country mile post of how to capture steam in action ..I loved every frame of this. Tom
Without you & "Lucky" , Christmas wouldn't be the same ...Well done !
Once again, a most enjoyable 30+ minutes of your photographic and artistic skills. Low morning light capturing full bodied exhaust in the freezing air. This must be Lucky's first Christmas as a grownup - he seem to be taking all of it in his stride, early morning starts at this wonderful preserved line. Nice choice of background music. Even an inquisitive juvenile white hart to complete the festive scene. Many thanks - looking forward to your events in the New Year. With Best wishes for 2018, Henry
Exceptionally enjoyable to watch. Many thanks for all your releases in 2017 and a happy new year to you and Lucky.
At 9:57, "What? You got a problem with goats watchin' trains?" :)

Deer, there three if you closely at the first shot of the signal before I zoomed into the white one.
That made my Xmas thanks Rob.
44871 has great exhaust sound there toward end of video.
According to the real story from Jean Shepherd, it would have been in his hometown of Hammond, Indiana. Which, at that time (wartime) Hammond had more railroad tracks and traffic than any other city nationwide. Hammond was (in)famous for its long railroad crossing traffic jams, many of them caused by filled and empty hoppers running in and out of the mills in Gary, East Chicago and Whiting. Shepherd mentions the trains in many of his articles and countless times on his various radio programs thru the years. Just a note from the story and the author's background in train history.
Very nice, enjoyed watching . Lucky did a fine job too !

The signal box by the bridge in the shot from 13:00 - is it EVER going to be commissioned? It’s been there, but out of action for over twenty years now to my knowledge! 😰

Nathan N Farnell , there has been some progress in recent years on Haworth junction, namely both ends of the junction are now operational, however work is still progressing on Keighley signal box, as such Haworth signal box will be waiting for a good few years yet, baring direct funding by generous donors, if I ever win big on the Lotto, then I have a shopping list and it is on it.

pennysteam Sounds Good!
how long dose the snow last in UK?
@pennysteam
6 жыл бұрын
Aldrick GMC , in this instance it was a week, not predictable in the uk due to the jet stream, some years we don’t see anything and others we can have a few weeks on overage in our neck of the woods, when, well almost anytime from October to March.
Was this now as in 2017? Not seen any snow ❄️ in Leeds. 😰

Nathan N Farnell , this film was shot over the weekend of the 9th and 10th of December 2017, main covering of snow was on the Thursday before. When it snows in England it usually settles and stays for a week in Worth Valley even after it is long gone in Leeds and most of the country.
The K&WR is your home turf then? I believe you were at either Williton or Washford on the WSR during the summer (2017). I understand the the American loco will be on the WSR for the 2018 Summer season. May see you again in 2018. Happy New Year.
